"No, we aren't thieves!" I defended. "We just saw these in the bush and decided to return it."

"Return it?" He stared at our puzzled faces. "That means you took it! You can't return what you didn't take!!" he expanciated.

It seemed as if the policeman was against us. They want more customers, to put innocent people in trouble.

"I swear sir, We would never lie to you..."

"People swear on lies. What difference would your swearing make?"

"Prof. Alamu and his neighbors were robbed yersternight." Another policeman added. "Too bad, his sons were shot to death. Maybe you boys works for the robbers or you work with them!"

"We are homeless and hungry but we would never lie. We returned this because we are Nigerian's good citizens... What will we gain in murdering or robbering innocent people? Please sir believe us." I pleaded.

"And what were you doing in the bush? Ehn?"

"We wanted to make sucide! What else!" Oyin raised his voice angrily and faced the rest of us. "We don't know anybody and we don't work for anyone either!"

"You see... I told you? We could have spent the money instead of bringing it here, no one would have known, no one would have been in trouble." Samuel pointed out.

"They say Nigerian police are your friend, Are you our friends now. You only know the rich and the connected. Only God knows us."

Just as the officer opened the suitcase, he saw three AK-47, soaked in blood on the money. None of us noticed this until now. We looked flabbergasted but the officer gave us a wicked smirk.

"Officer! Take them in..." He commanded a sergent. "A bush fowls' playground is never appreciably spacious."

There and then, they threw us into prisons like petty thieves. Who would believe us? And with what prove?

Now, I realise... The world moves at different speeds depending on who you are.
