"Don't die today." I mumbled, loud enough for only him to hear. He gave my hand a squeeze and nodded. I smiled and let go.

"FORWARD!" Erwin shouted at full force just as Eren arrived with the three dimwits. We all raced forward and out of the camp, circling back into our formation. I saw that Jillian girl ride of with some others.

"Don't worry, I told her not to tell anyone this morning." Eren said when he noticed my worried face. I gave out a heavy sigh and quickly followed Levi out and to the left before anyone could see.

I sighed as more red flares appeared from the left."I'll launch the flare Captain." I said, grabbing some red smoke and loading the gun. I pointed it directly up and pulled the trigger. The smoke burst into the sky and left a clear red mark.

I sighed and put the gun back on my belt. Although it was the beginning of summer, this morning it was pretty cold out. I wrapped my green scout cape around me for warmth and looked up at the sky.

"Green signals from the middle section. We need to turn right." Eren yawned. I saw the signals and followed the group as we turned. Nothing to exciting happened for a while. We continued to turn left and right accordingly based on the red and green signals. After about half and hour, a black signal was shot from near by.

"God damn it. Everything was going so well too." I said to Eren. He nodded in response, loading his gun with his first black flair. I hoped that nothing too bad was happening up there, because if that ab-normal finishes off the sides, it might come for us next.

I shuddered at the thought. Eren must of saw my expression because he gave me a quick smile. "Everything will be fine (Y/N), the sides are strong." He said, looking back at the captain and ahead at the clear blue sky.

I smiled and nodded. Of corse everything would be fine, I was apart of one of the strongest titan slaying squads in the world. We continued forward and the black signals passed through to the center. We got the green signal and moved away from the area.

"Captain! A 10 meter titan coming from behind!" Called one of the cadets, his voice was shaky. I looked over my shoulder and saw a smiling titan. It had long, stringy black hair, its smile spreading from ear to ear.

I shivered and looked back at the captain, waiting for any orders. He turned to assess the situation. He faces forward and took a second to speak.

"Myself and Eren will take down the Titan. (Y/N), you can will lead the rest of the group in the mean time." He ordered.

Then him and Eren separated from the group and rode towards the titan. I took a deep breath and made sure the others were behind me."Stay close, and don't look back." I said. They all nodded and followed after me.

I did my best not to look back myself. I hoped that Levi and Eren would come back safely. The corporal only recently got permission to fight after the last expedition where he injured his ankle.

I took some deep breaths and kept going. I realized I should probably send a signal about the Titan. I grabbed some red smoke and shot the gun. I sighed as the sky turned red from multiple groups sending the signal along.

I bit my bottom lip as I heard a giant crash from behind me. I urged myself to not turn around. The titan was probably killed and that was just the sound of the corpse crashing onto the grassy plains.

"Back!" Eren smiled as he rode up next to me. I grinned as Levi took back the lead by passing in front of me.

"What happened back there?" I asked. There was still some steam coming off of Eren's cape. "Oh, I cut at the ankles while it was walking and Levi went towards the nape doing that spinning trick!" He explained.

"That sounds cool." I smiled in response."I heard that he does it by holding one of the blades backwards. You know, giving him more circulation." He said trying to hold one of his swords the way Levi does.

I laughed as he struggled to keep the sword balanced and in his hand. "Jaeger, concentrate on the mission ahead." Levi growled. I silently laughed at Eren and he just gave me an annoyed face. I smiled and we got closer to the castle.

I could see the grey stone walls in the distance, I smiled as we approached the castle. I was happy, no deaths. That I know of at least.

"There's a meeting tomorrow morning, be ready for it." Levi announced as we rode through the gate. But, when we tied up our horses and walked inside, there was no one else there.

"Where is everyone? They should have been here before us." I said, looking around the place. Everyone looked scared and confused as we searched the castle. "Sir, there was no one upstairs." Said one of the guys. "No one in the courtyard either." Said Eren.

Levi ran his fingers through his hair and turned his back to us."Where the hell are they?" He yelled at no one in particular. I began to freak out. Why was no one else here? Had they gone further without us? Had they sent a yellow flare and we missed it? Were they already on the way back to the wall? Were they all.... dead?

No, they couldn't be. We missed a flare or something, that's all."We might as well stay the night. It's getting dark." I said looking out of the window. Some stars were already visible. Levi nodded."Get your stuff set up. One person on guard every 2 hours. I'll start." He ordered.

Everyone nodded and grabbed some blankets that were left in boxes from the last expedition. I took one and laid it down on the floor. I used one of the packs as a pillow and quickly fell asleep.

I woke up to someone tapping me lightly on the shoulder. I moaned and sat up straight. Levi was sitting next to me."Want to join me for the last half hour?" He whispered trying not to wake the others. I smiled and nodded. We both stood up and tip-toed over to the boxes near the gate, sitting on top of them and leaning back against the wall.

"So, what do you think happened to the others?" I asked leaning my head on his shoulder. He put his arm around my shoulders and sighed."Not sure. But if there not here by tomorrow, we're going back." He said. I nodded. Seems like a plan. And if everyone asks why we came back before/after the others, we can say we got separated from the formation and couldn't risk waiting for someone to come after us.

"Something happened." Levi said, suddenly sitting up. I jumped up just as people started to race inside the castle.
