"Yes! Finally I can spindash!" Sonic spindashed through half the level, collecting rings and destroying badniks. Little did he know that there was a follower close behind him...

"This is awesome!" Sonic ran in the grass, but ended up running into spikes. "Oww. You're going to pay for that!"

"Pay for what?"

"Huh?" Sonic looked behind him and saw an orange and white two tailed fox. "Oh, hi! You scared me a little. What do you want?"

"Oh, um, I'm Miles Prower, but everyone calls me Tails. Can I be your sidekick?"

"Just keep up with me, okay?" Sonic shouted from far away.

"Wow. He's impatient." Tails spinned his two tails and followed Sonic's trail.

"Just one more ring and I'll get an extra life!" Sonic carefully avoided the spikes that lay in his path.

"Hi!" Tails accidentally bumped into Sonic, causing him to fall on the spikes.

"Oops. Sorry. Oh, what's your name?" Tails asked. Sonic left him in the dust. "Aww. This is my fault. Hey, I know! I'll get him 100 rings! Then he'll be my friend!" Tails went backwards, collecting every ring in sight.

"I hate that fox. He'll never be my sidekick. Just look at what he done! Now I can't get an extra life." Sonic walked to the end of the zone when rings started falling from the sky. "Huh? What the heck is going on!?"

"I thought you needed these!" Tails shouted from above.

"You can fly!? That's something you don't see everyday. Thanks, Tails!"

"No problem! And, what's your name?" Tails asked Sonic as he landed in front of him.

"The name's Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog!"
