She walked along the crosswalk, staring at the ground with dulled, green eyes. A single, scarred tally mark on her wrist taunted her every single day. She hated it.. so much..

No matter how hard she tried, it wouldn't go away.. Their memories stayed fresh in her mind, letting lose a flurry of tears whenever she dwelled on them.
She had decided that she wasn't going to love again. She was too afraid of losing them...

  Yet.. it happened.

Another boring day in the office. She had been sitting at her desk when she heard a loud crash in the lounge. Standing up, she walked towards it to find out what happened.

A pair of dark brown eyes met her dulled ones. She was shocked..
There, on the floor picking up glass shards, was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. Dark chocolate skin, beautiful dark brown eyes, and the most curly brown hair she'd ever seen.

"A-are you alright?" She finally managed to find her voice. The other nodded. She bent down to help the other. "Th-thank you..."
She looked up at the other and smiled, nodding silently. She had lost all words once more..

After that, the two had began to hang out. Well.. more like the other had hung around her. And, after a while, she had started to come out of her shell. The two talked and talked. They texted, hung out, and did almost everything together.

But.. it was to her surprise (much less horror) when she saw another tally mark on her wrist. But this time... it was black. She gasped, almost choking on air, and fumbled around for her phone. She called up the other and almost screamed into the phone, pestering the other with questions..

The other just laughed, saying yes over and over. She was.. happy. Like, actually happy.

A few years later, the two had moved in together. It was beautiful..
They got a house, rescued a dog, and a few cats.. They got engaged, and eventually married.

Now, they both sit in their backyard, watching their lovely children run around the backyard, playing with the dog.

It had been wonderful. Their children had just got into high school, their dog was healthy as can be, and they were happy.

But... all good things come to an end...

The other had smiled, hopping into the car. "I'll be back soon, my love!!" And with a wave, she had drove off.

All night she waited.. and waited... and waited for the other to come home.. until.. to her horror... She glanced at her wrist.. and saw.. a second scarred tally mark...
