Peter was a nervous wreck.

It was time for the school's annual talent show, and all sophomores had to be in it, whether it be a solo act or a group act. Peter chose to do a solo act, even though he instantly regretted it.

He decided to sing a song he wrote about a year ago, when he had been dating a boy named Ethan. Ethan had only loved him for his body and cute face, and not what Peter truly was. So, Peter wrote a song and Ethan had heard him singing it, quickly breaking up with the teen hero shortly after.

Peter took a deep breath as the principle picked up the microphone. "And for our last act of the day, Peter Parker, singing a song he wrote called "Superficial Love". (quick note he didn't actually write this song but for plot purposes he did. okay? okay. back to the story)

Peter slowly walked up to the piano and sat down on the bench, readying his fingers against the cool, white and black keys. He began playing softly, the notes blending and transitioning perfectly.

"You're really cute, I must admit. But I need something deeper than this. I wanna know when I'm looking at you, that you don't only see the things you want too."

The room full of students and teachers were shocked at the sound of Peter's voice. It was sweet, melodic- nearly angelic sounding.

"Cause I'm not perfect, I'm flawed. And if you don't like that, get lost. Cause I don't want it if it's fake, I don't want it if it's just got show, for show."

His voice held so much emotion, creating a beautiful song.

"I just want it if it's real, and I'm thinking I should let you know, you know."

"This superficial love thing, got me going crazy. Baby if you want me, then you better need me. 'Cause I'm so done... not being your number one..."

Wade Wilson leaned against the bleachers, arms crossed over his chest and head tilted as he stared at his kinda-sorta-but-not-quite-boyfriend up on that stage, singing his heart out. The Avengers, who were dressed in their disguises, stood behind the undercover mercenary, entranced in the song.

"And if you wanna keep me, then you better treat me, Like a damn princess, make that an empress.
'Cause I'm so done, not being your number one...
This superficial love..."

"Fun at first, I won't deny. But I want more than just what meets the eye. I wanna know when you're looking at me, That you see deep into my personality."

Cause I want authentic, not just for fun. If this love is plastic, it'll break on us. 'Cause I don't want it if it's fake, I don't want it if it's just for show. I just want it if it's real and I'm thinking I should let you know..."

The girls swooned at his voice, and the boys were jealous.

"This superficial love thing got me going crazy. Baby if you want me, then you better need me. 'Cause I'm so done, not being your number one.
And if you wanna keep me, then you better treat me, Like a damn princess, make that an empress.
'Cause I'm so done, not being your number one
This superficial love..."

Peter looked up for a split second, a light pink blush spreading across his face as he saw all the stares, but he blushed even more when he got the striking blue eyes of the mercenary that kissed him goodnight before he went to bed. she quickly averted his gaze back to the piano before continuing the melody of the song.

"I can feel you on my lips all the time, But I just wanna feel you in my heart and on my mind." (x4)

"And this ain't right."

Tony covered his mouth with his right hand, shocked to say the least. He never knew his kid could sing this good.

This superficial love thing got me going crazy.
Baby if you want me, then you better need me,
'Cause I'm so done, not being your number one.
And if you wanna keep me, then you better treat me, Like a damn princess, make that an empress.
'Cause I'm so done, not being your number one
This superficial love..."

Peter played the piano much softer, his fingers barely grazing the pristine keys as he sang the last measures.

"I can feel you on my lips all the time, But I just wanna feel you in my heart and on my mind.
I can feel you on my lips all the time, And this ain't right. This superficial love..."

Peter sat back on the piano bench and the auditorium burst into cheers and claps, but Peter could pick out every single voice, especially Wade's.

"Yes baby boy! You get it!" the mercenary had shouted, hands cupped around his mouth. Peter blushed at the comment before hurrying off stage and straight into his kinda-sorta-not-really-boyfriend's arms.

"I love you..." he had mumbled into the anti-hero's chest. Wade quirkily smiled, planting a soft kiss on Peter's head.

"I love you too, baby boy."

Who knows, maybe talent shows aren't so bad after all.
