Darkness had swept over the sky, the Stars glistening. I rolled over on my dirty hammock and stretched my arms out, my back arching.
"Sofie," came a small whisper. I look around for the source of the noise. I find Imogen, her eyes poking out from under her pink sheets.
"Come" he whispered, beckoning to me. I shook my head and pursed my lips shut before slithering back under my grubby sheets. Soon I felt a violent tug and my sheets fly off my shivering body.
"Imogen!" I squealed. She folded her arms and stared at my longingly.
"Okay, fine" I say, rolling out of what I had grown to call bed. "Quickly though"
We ran silently through the hallways, my cold body following Imogen's.
"Here..." She excited, leading me into the theatre we had been in the day before. "I want to save him" she whispered, looking over at the man, lifelessly hanging from the ceiling.
"No!" I loudly whispered, thinking that she might have gone insane. "Are you crazy?"
She shook her head and clambered up onto the stage and reached for the Man's feet but was too small.
I felt horrible watching her like this so I made my way swiftly up onto the dark stage. I had always had stage fright, my whole life. I would always go to the back for school dances and hid my face from the crowd. But this time it was different, even though nobody was watching, I didn't feel scared. Everything I had been through the past few months was nothing compared to having stage fright. Everything Imigen will have to live with when she finally makes it out. I looked over at the millions of seats, set neatly under the stage. I sighed and reached up for the Mans waist. I fiddled around for a bit, trying to figure out how to get him out.
"Uh," Imogen said, instantly dizzy. Her face was pale and she stumbled around. I grabbed her by the shoulders and sat her quickly down.
"Are you okay..." I said, patting her on the back.
"Yeah," she smiled weakly at me.
I hoisted myself up and tried to get Te man out of the tangle of strings. Thoughts were racing through my head. And then there was one answer that shocked me even more. The man wasn't lying. She really was.... Pregnant.
