We spent so much of our days together.

We had quite the friendship, don't you think?

All of a sudden, Woo Geurim was put on some high pedestal.

Word was quick in SM. Before the young girl knew it, everyone under the roof knew she was one of the girls considered to be the last member of Red Velvet. Weeks passed with a weirdness to it. Geurim knew people stole glances at her, whispering to each other as to why she was chosen within the lineup.

Fortunately, she had so many supportive friends who cheered her on.

"I can't believe my best friend got chosen to debut!"

It was a weekend, and so Jaemin requested they meet up with their friends to a karaoke. It was one of the rare times where they didn't have much for their training. It was better to spend these times as precious as possible. More so that Geurim could lose a lot of that free time for preparations of a debut.

"Shush it you. It hasn't happened yet!" Geurim shouted back.

The two were currently at the Woo residence. Her parents were at work, but they didn't mind Jaemin coming into the house. They could see how nice and respectful he was after the times he had walked Geurim to and from SM and their school. It didn't take long for the adults to take a liking to the smiley boy, entrusting him with their daughter.

Although, they did warn the boy to never be in Geurim's bedroom alone with her.

Lead to why Jaemin stood just outside her bedroom door while she was finishing up for their outing. The two 00liners have been yelling through the walls to talk for the past twenty minutes.

Geurim sat down in front of her big body mirror. In her hands, she had a bag that had makeup her mom and aunts have bought her recently. She hadn't tried them yet, as she didn't find reason to. However, Geurim figured it won't hurt to put on something for tonight.

Her mother told her that she looked really pretty with her straight black hair down, so her hair was done as such with a small clip helped keep the loose strands from her face. Geurim decided to add a little bit of powder and rosy lipgloss; the first and easy steps in beginning a makeup routine her mother also said. With such small changes, the girl already saw a difference in her appearance.

A good one, she assumed.

Once satisfied with how she looked in the mirror, she finally headed out of the bedroom. Unexpectedly, Jaemin had nearly tumbled in, as he had been laying against her door. Geurim had to stop herself from laughing over the scared look that crossed his face.

"Geurim-ah—" He stopped when he saw her.

His sudden silence made Geurim self-conscious over her appearance. Right, this was the most she had ever done for her looks. It must be a culture shock for Jaemin. Her fingers reached her glossed lips. "It's too much, isn't it?"

"N-No, it isn't..." He dismissively waved his hands at her. "You look fine. We should go. Jeno just messaged me that they were almost there!"

Geurim pouted, "Seriously, already? Herin told me that her, Hina, and Lami were on the way. Let's go!"

The young kids hurried out of the house and jogged over to the closest bus stop. Once grabbing a ride, they sat comfortably in their seats, as they rode to the karaoke place. Geurim had her gaze out the window, watching buildings and cars zoom by.

As she turned to point out a dog to Jaemin, she caught his eyes.

How long had he been staring at her?

When their eyes met, he looked like a deer caught in headlights. A cough, and he leaned back in his seat. He mentioned something different than what Geurim had expected. "So, are you okay with Yeri and Koeun-noona coming too? I've noticed that you've been kind of distant from them."

It was regretful.

They were technically rivals now.

There wasn't any kind of bad blood between them, no. It was far from that. They still cared for each other, but they were cautious. They didn't want to step on anyone's toes, and definitely didn't want to do anything rash.

They were friends.

They can still hang out and have fun together.

"Of course, I am. This would be good for us."

The two were instantly greeted as they exited to the bus stop that was conveniently just in front of the karaoke place. Their big group welcomed them warmly, exchanging hellos and small hugs.

"Whoa, Green, is that makeup you're wearing?" Donghyuck pointed out just before they entered the building.

This lead to everyone turning their attention on the poor girl, who blushed at amount of eyes on her.

"First of all, Green?" Jaemin questioned.

"C'mon, Geurim... Geu-rim, Gr-een. They're close enough," the tan-skinned boy waved off with a roll of his eyes. "Don't attack me. Geurim looks nice for once."

"I-I can't tell if that was a compliment or an insult," the girl in topic murmured, glaring over at Donghyuck.

"In his language, I'd take it as a compliment, Geurim-ah," Mark chimed in reply, a small chuckle following after.

"Maybe, you still have to get used to Hyuck's way of talking, Geurim," Hina responded next, nudging her side. This only earned a pout from the very girl. It was then the rest of the gals reassured her that she, indeed, looked pretty tonight with small fits of laughter.

Yeri linked her arm with Geurim's, and gave her a warm smile. As Geurim beamed back, they followed after their friends. They were ready to have fun singing along together.

Right, they were just teenagers out to have fun. It was a shame that this was one of the first times Geurim got to experience this, even as she was the most recent trainee of the bunch. If only she had come out of her shell before, she could have known what it's like to feel a bit wild and free.

As time went on, the kids were cheering along and basically yelling the lyrics to every song; their laughter probably could be heard all over Seoul. It was a party in the karaoke room the SM trainees had rented out for themselves, truly letting themselves go all out. Geurim was amazed, as she watched her friends even attempt serious performances. The harmonies, the tight choreography.

It was no joke.

Geurim could see they all shared the same dream.

"Green, Green! Let's sing a SHINee song," Donghyuck ushered for her to join him in front of the screen. He was already pushing in the buttons on the remote, to search through their sunbae's discography. It was then he clicked Why So Serious for them to do.

Of course he did.

On random days, whenever they had the free time at SM, Geurim and Donghyuck always would attempt to dance and sing SHINee's songs together. It was one of their favorite things to do to pass time in between schedules. They just loved dance covering the current hits, that's how the two of them clicked.

Why So Serious just so happened to be one of the songs they were learning the dance to together. Geurim couldn't help but feel shy, while Donghyuck emitted a determined energy, he wanted to show off.

The duo danced the moment the music began to play from those speakers. Donghyuck followed most of Minho's movements, and Geurim followed Taemin's. Automatic and instant, and amazingly put together.

Everyone cheered, hollered for the two, truly dazzled by the unexpected performance.

They danced just like their sunbaes. It wasn't perfect, but it was scarily similar.

Donghyuck and Geurim were magnificent.

One noticed this and suddenly, he felt a twinge in his stomach as he watched Geurim smile so brightly throughout the song.

Na Jaemin watched, clearly not being as loud as his other friends, immersed in the SHINee song.

But wait.

Why wasn't he into it? He loved this song, and had always admired his two friends' dancing abilities. However, seeing them dance together, with those annoyingly joyous smiles on their faces as they glanced at one another? Jaemin somehow... didn't like that.

And why... did he feel better when they scored only a 74 after their song?

"Whoa, noona, hyung, that was really great!" Jisung chimed at the very end of the bench. Geurim happily ruffled the younger boy's hair, beaming at him for the compliment.

"Man, can you all imagine if they let Donghyuck and Geurim do a kind of collaboration together and post it online? They'd kill it," Herin replied, giving the two of them a thumbs up for their dance. "You guys can do a mash-up of all the sunbaes songs!"

"Should we ask, Green?" Donghyuck questioned, nudging Geurim's side as they sat down together at the empty spots. "It'd be fun."

Geurim hummed, "Well, it doesn't have to be just us. It'd be fun if we all did it."

Jaemin felt surprisingly relieved at her words.

"Well, for sure, with Jisung and Hina, since you all focus more on dancing," Koeun added in. "But it would be fun! We should ask."

"Noona can ask! She's our representative, after all," Jeno replied next, earning words of agreement from the others. "Yes, yes! Koleader~"

Their karaoke night continued on, the kids picking songs where they all can sing and dance along to. It was a fun night indeed, where everyone could forget their worries and responsibilities as an SM trainee. As Geurim clung onto Koeun and Yeri, their little rivalry was forgotten that night, as they sung their hearts out to their favorite songs.

Who knew when they'd ever have a time like this, altogether, again?

A/n:

Let's be honest, this was lowkey what Jaemin wanted to do in this chapter, lol

Don't forget to vote it up and leave a comment or two if you liked it~

It was just a short filler chapter, but I think it showed the dynamic of everyone's relationships with one another well. I wish I knew the girls' personalities better though. Any tips on how to write each of them would be appreciated!

I might just put myself on the grind and try to write as much of this story as I can! But I guess we'll see if I actually follow that plan. ¯\_()_/¯
