It was another night in saint canard, Launchpad and darkwing were on patrol heading home.

"12 robberies, 16 arsonist, 7 grand theft auto, 7 home theft, 2 burglaries and 1 international terrorist kidnapper not bad for a friday" darkwing says.

"Yeah but-" launchpad starts to yawn, "don't you think we should be heading home now"

Drake looks at his watch to see it was close to midnight.

"Yeah I guess you're right" then he started to yawn too, "I guess we could call it a night and get some rest, after all the Grimaldo mind need some sleep too"

When darkwing drives, the camera pans up to the moon then it turns to the sun, panning down to the mallard's residence.

Drake and Launchpad were asleep on the couch, then the door burst open it was icylynn coming home from school, she was 10 years old and gosalyn was 15, practically grew up.

"HI DAD!" Icylynn screams causing drake to fall off the couch.

"Ah-oh, icylynn, don't scream" he gets up rubbing his head.

"Sorry" icylynn runs inside screaming in joy.

Then when gosalyn came in last, but something was wrong, she looked droopy doleful disappointed depressed about something, she looked upset.

"How was school icylynn" drake gets up.

"Oh pretty good, why am I in trouble?"

"No, why would you be in trouble? Did you do something?" He gets up as he was suspicious.

Icylynn chuckles nervously, " nothing, I didn't do anything wrong, I didn't blow up the science lab"

"What?"

"Oops I got homework to do, bye" she immediately runs upstairs.

"Icylynn! You're in big trouble young lady, swear she reminds me of gosalyn, speaking of which gosalyn how was school"

But gosalyn passed by him and heads to the kitchen, she was quiet and silence.

"Gosalyn?" Drake realized she didn't say anything, he and Launchpad look in the kitchen to see her getting some water, she takes a sip and heads upstairs.

"Yeah sure, whatever"

"Gosalyn? You ok?"

"Yeah, I got homework to do, bye"

Drake was suspicious, "that was weird don't you think Launchpad?"

"Yeah, usually gosalyn is so cheerful when she gets out of school"

"Yeah"

"Maybe she just have a bad day"

"Yeah maybe you're right, she's just probably going through a phase"

But then he gets an alarm, "oh no time now, darkwing is needed come on Launchpad let's...get...dangerous" they get in their chairs and take the secret entrance.

"GOSALYN YOUR BABYSITTING" drake shouts.

But the next morning drake noticed gosalyn was depressed, he was in the living room he walks over icylynn who was on the floor coloring then he heard the knock on the door.

"Huh?" He opens it to see that it was honker, all grown and his feathers white.

"Honker?"

He looked distraught, "hey mr. Mallard, is gosalyn feeling ok"

"What do you mean?"

"Well she's kinda been feeling off recently"

"What do you mean?"

"She quit hockey"

"WHAT? Why would she quit hockey"

"Well I was hoping you would know since you know her better, she stopped talking to me and she hasn't been answering her phone"

"Well now that you mentioned it, she has been acting odd"

"Well when you see her, tell her I said hi and I hope she's feeling better bye"

After honker left drake looks upstairs he was worried about gosalyn.

So later that night, he was holding a dvd as he peaks his head inside her room, he sees her laying down, she was facing the wall.

"Hey gos" he sits down on the edge of her bed, "we're gonna watch zombie mayhem 4: attack at the mall, why isn't you come watch it with us"

She lifts her head up then she turns around to him.

"Thanks dad, but I think I'll pass" she lays back down and drake frowns.

"Come on sweetie, it's your favorite"

"Thanks but I'm good"

"Oh...ok then" he was concerned when he exit her room.

But this wasn't the first time she stopped taking interest but helping him on patrol.

Drake was getting an emergency call as darkwing, he passed by gosalyn room, he sees her on her bed studying.

"Hey gos, I'm going on patrol"

He waited for a response, she turns a page in her textbook.

"Ok"

"You wanna come with us, why don't you join us"

"No thanks I got work to do"

She gets more depressed by the day, she's even loss her appetite.

In the kitchen, she was picking at her breakfast, she couldn't eat at the moment, her face seem distraught and sad and tired.

Drake was worried as he sat next to her, "hungry?" He smiled to start something.

"I'm not so sure"

"Do you want something else, I can get you something else"

"I'm not very hungry dad" she walks up to her room, grabbing her shoulders drake saw that she was getting skinny.

He rushes up to her, "gosalyn you need to eat something, you're so skinny, that's not healthy"

"I'm fine dad, I just don't feel like eating much anymore" she pulls her shoulders away.

It gets worst everyday, gosalyn came home from school, drake was sitting on the couch reading a newspaper, he puts it down and smiled at gosalyn.

"Hey gosalyn, how was school"

"Ok...I guess...whatever"

"Say kiddo I was thinking maybe we could do something together you and be"

"Sorry dad I can't I have to study, bye"

"Gosalyn" she shuts him out when she shut her door.

Then the next morning, drake sees gosalyn, she comes downstairs looking more gloomy then even when she covers her face with a hoodie.

"Hey sweetie,where are you going?"

"It's Saturday"

"Yeah I know, it's the weekend where are you going"

"I'm just gonna go study"

"Gosalyn" drake reaches out for her but she immediately leaves.

"Bye dad" she shuts the door, leaving drake concerned.

"What's going on with your sister, it's not like her to act like this" he asked icylynn who was coloring with Launchpad.

"Huh?"

"What's wrong with your sister, she's been seen kinda...well rather down recently, what's wrong with her?"

"Oh she's been like that for two weeks" icylynn says.

"TWO WEEKS!" Drake panicked, "why did you say anything or tell me"

"I don't know I thought it was the phase you said she was going through, what is a phase?"

"It's something you shouldn't know till you're 13"

"Well she's been like this since that birthday party we went to it was a indoor bounce house"

"Say you know whenever someone gets depressed it's because someone forgets their birthday" Launchpad says.

Then drake gasped in realization, "of course that s it, gosalyn must be upset because i forgot her birthday, Aw what kind of a father am I to forget her birthday"

"You forgot my birthday sometimes and how could you forget her birthday" icylynn puts her hands on her hips.

"She must feel let out, ugh I got to make it up to her, but how?"

"We could do something nice for her" launchpad suggested then drake gets an idea.

"Great idea Launchpad you're a genius, we'll throw a surprise party for her then take her out to do something she likes"

"Yeah" Launchpad and icylynn cheered.

"Not you, you're still in trouble little missy" drake lecture icylynn.

"Aw"

After awhile they decorated the house with purple streamers and balloons and a banner that says: happy birthday gosalyn.

"Ok everything is ready, I'm gonna go pick up gosalyn from school when we gets back I want you two to jump and shout surprise, got it" drake says.

"Got it dw"

So drake drives to the school, he waits gosalyn to come out, he waited and waited and waited.

Till he got worried and saw a teacher leaving the school.

"Excuse me miss, but is gosalyn still in the school"

"Gosalyn?"

"Yes she said she went to do some studying here"

"Oh yeah...she was here but then she left"

"Left?!" Drake started to panic.

"Yes about 2 hours ago"

"Where did she go?"

"I don't know but she went this way" she pointed right.

Worried, drake turns to darkwing then he scans the city for gosalyn, he looks around for her.

"Ok now need to panic darkwing, if you were gosalyn were would you go"

Then far ahead he sees his tower he gets something.

"Of course, she would go to the tower"

So he rushes to the tower to see her looking up in the sky.

"Gosalyn" he was relived to see she was ok, "there you are gosalyn I been looking all over for you, where gave you been? I was so worried"

"Sorry dad, I just needed a place to think, to clear my mind"

"Well don't do it again, now come on, I have something for you at home" he takes her hand but saw she wasn't moving.

"Everything ok gosalyn" he bends down but saw a emotionless expression on her face.

"You been acting odd recently gosalyn, kinda depressed, what's wrong?" He grabs her hand.

"It's nothing dad, I just been thinking about a-lot of stuff"

Then he sits down besides her, looking guilty.

"it's because I forgot your birthday, isn't it"

"What?" She turns to him looking confused

"Isn't that why you are depressed, because I forgot your birthday"

"It's not my birthday dad"

"It's not whew...i mean that's a relived"

But he could see something was bothering her, "what's wrong then"

"It was senior week and it was collage day I went to the gym to see these many tables with different colleges many students sign up"

In a flashback gosalyn sees many students signing up for colleges then she comes upon a table where a fat dog sponsoring duckberg university.

When he sees gosalyn he hands her a brochure then many other collages had her brochures.

"Then they stared hanging me out different brochures and it's got me doubting myself: who am I what am I, I don't know who I am or what I'm going to do with the rest of my life I can't be a hero like you I'm not strong like Launchpad and I'm not powerful like icylynn I can't be a doctor I can't be a crime fight, I'm sure what I want to do"

"Oh gosalyn, is this why you have been upset recently"

"Sorry I'm just trying to figure out who I am sometimes I'm worried of letting you down"

"Me? Why am I the source of your depression"

"Well growing up I wasn't exactly the perfect kid you always complain about how I always give you headaches and cause you stress, look I know I'm not perfect like icylynn or powerful as her and yes she is your real daughter unlike me but the last thing i want to do is make you proud, if I can't do that, then who am I?"

But he reminds gosalyn who she is, he puts his arms around her shoulders pulling her close.

"You're gosalyn, my daughter you can be whatever you puts her mind too, I see what you can do and it's amazing, you're creative smart brave strong with a spirited personality inside I guess that's what I love about you, you always keep me on my feet, so you shouldn't worry about going to college now that won't be until a few tears you still have time, don't think about the future now but to think about what's happening right now, and remember no matter what you choose to be or which college you go to, just remember I'll always be proud of you"

"Thanks dad" and just like that gosalyn's spirit is lifted up.

She gets up and they embrace each other in a hug.

"Thanks dad, I needed dad"

"It's no problem at all baby, just glad to see you are happy again...let's go honey"

But once they get home, drake completely forgotten about the surprise party.

When drake turns on the lights Launchpad and icylynn jump out screaming:

"SURPRISE!"

"Ah" gosalyn got startled.

"Happy late birthday gosalyn" Launchpad holds out her cake, "I hope you love the cake it's peanut butter, honey and sauerkraut cake I picked it out"

But much to drake, he was disgusted, "could've gotten nougat instead, sorry gosalyn I forgot to tell you I have a surprise party for you"

Looking down on the cake she sees her made of icing saying: happy birthday gosalyn we'll never forget, It made her smiled.

"It's ok dad, it's great. Thanks guys but it's not my birthday"

"It's not" launchpad and icylynn were confused.

"No...but I do appreciate the hard work you thanks guys" she takes a slice of the cake and heads upstairs.

Although Launchpad and icylynn were worried, drake wasn't.

"Oh gee maybe we should see if she's ok"

Launchpad tries to go upstairs when drake stops him.

"You know Launchpad, something tells me she is going to be fine"

"How can you tell dw?"

"I just know"

Inside her room, gosalyn puts the cake down and opens her drawers and pulls out a brochure for duckberg university.
