"Tony, are you sure you're not just grasping at straws?" Pepper sat with him on the couch as he delivered the information he had learned earlier. "Peter is a pretty common name, after all."

"How many Peters were kidnapped at the exact age of six, Pepper? Don't you thinks it's too big a coincidence a teenager named Peter, with your eyes, burst into our living room?"

He held her face in his hands and she saw the determination and surety in them.

She gasped and tears filled her eyes. What kind of tears, Tony couldn't tell. "Do you mean to tell me that our little boy was taken by HYDRA and turned into a super weapon of some sort?"

Tony lowered his gaze guiltily. He hadn't had time to think about it that way yet, but he certainly was now. He would make sure they paid for it. But first, he had to find his son and save him. There was only one way he knew how to locate him.

And she was sitting, cuffed up, in their guest room.

——————————

Peter glanced down at his wrapped arm. The last of his wounds were nearly finished healing. Good thing, too, seeing as him, Luke, Danny and Sam stood at the foot of Avengers tower, watching the sun go down.

"Are we all clear on the plan?" I looked over at my team wearing civilian clothes. Only a sharp mind would notice how we all wore darker colored jeans and jackets. Even sharper eyes might notice the bulges at our waists and ankles as well.

Luke gave a gruff nod while Sam and Danny gave me vocal affirmation.

"Nova, as soon as you've done your part, get up to us through the windows. No use wasting anymore time then necessary."

"Got it, webs."

"Fist, wait until me and Power Man are on the other side of the floor before causing your distraction."

He nodded in response.

"Power Man, your number one priority is getting Tiger out of there. She's been there for nearly a week, so carry her if you have to. I'll take care of Stark myself."

"Let's do this," Luke looked up at the building, as if judging how long he could hold it if it fell over.

Peter grinned in approval.

——————————

Tony had just reached the holding area when the lights flickered. He looked up in annoyance. If anyone should have good power 100% of the time, it was the billionaire. He unlocked the door to the hall of bars and opened it.

Then the lights went out completely. It was nearly pitch black, if not for the dim light coming from the living room.

What the hell? Tony thought in shock. He jogged back to the living room and looked out the window. How come his building the only one to go dark? Ugh.

"FRIDAY, could you turn on the backup power?"

He got no response. That was his first clue that something was wrong. The power had a separate connection then FRIDAY. Someone would have to shut the two down separately and manually.

There was a bang from the elevator shaft.

"Steve?" Tony shouted. "Clint, this isn't funny! Turn my AI back on!"

Bucky barged in (he seemed to be good at that) and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "Stark, I was trying to read! How come the lights are off?"

"You can read?" Tony asked doubtfully.

Bucky rolled his eyes. "Don't you know where I work?"

"No–"

Natasha hissed at them to shut up from the shadows. They jumped in surprise. When had she gotten there? And why was she in full suit up mode?

"Why are you shushing me?" Tony asked in a hurtful tone.

"Why are the lights out?" She shot back. "Why is your AI off? Get your head out of your ass, Tony."

"Shit." Realization dawned on his face. "I can't suit up without FRIDAY."

"Language," Steve emerged from the dark hallway, yawning.

"Don't language me when we're being infiltrated."

Steve froze. "We're what?"

A glowing yellow fist burst from the elevator door, cutting off any response.

——————————

Ugh. Climbing up an elevator shaft with a super soldier and a Chi ninja hanging on your neck was not fun. Peter wouldn't recommend it to anyone without spidey strength.

When they finally got to the Avengers floor, Peter was relieved, to say the least. He dropped his teammates off on a support, wincing at the noise their feet made. Luke and Peter stood on each side of the doors while Danny stood at the center of the support, clenching his fist and concentrating.

There was fire in his eyes when he opened them and his fist burst with light.

He looked at Peter and nodded.

"Get ready," Danny told them and pulled his fist back. The two looked away as he shot it towards the door.

As soon as there was a beat hole, Luke changed places with him and ripped it wider, wide enough for them to jump through. Danny threw in a smoke Grenada before them to mask the team's presence.

"What?" Peter huffed. "How come you got a smoke grenade?"

Luke rolled his eyes and lead the way through stealthily.

Danny and Peter leaped through behind him and rolled in opposite direction, like in training. It was dark and smokey, but their masks mostly protected them from that. They odds seemed to be in their favor until Sam, the miniature sun broke through the window and lit the entire place up.

Showing half the Avengers staring at them.

Peter swore and yelled quietly to Luke. "Find her! We'll handle them."

He nodded and got ready to charge through them. Peter drew his handgun and pointed it up at the superhero team. The response was instantaneous. They all dove wisely for cover.

Nova and Fist dove through the dissipating smoke, literally glowing with power. Luke sprinted at full speed in between them and down the hall the Avengers had apparently came from.

"Hey!" Tony shouted, realizing what they were here for. Or rather, whom.

As soon as his head popped up over the couch, Peter pulled the trigger. Unfortunately, Stark had already ducked back down again.

Steve and Bucky ran out to meet the two charging teens. Danny crashed into Captain America with enough force to make him stumble. The Chi warrior felt a hand close around his wrist and he was slammed into the ground, air escaping him. He clenched his teeth in anger and swiped the legs out from underneath the first Avemger, bringing him down with Danny.

Sam threw a glowing punch at Bucky, not at all expecting the Winter Soldier to catch his fist. His eyes widened and he tried to jerk out of the metal grip, but it seemed unmoving. Bucky swing his other arm around, but Nova managed to block the punch with his forearm. Bucky hadn't realized that he was just pissing the teen off.

"Holy–Gah!" Bucky yelled in pain as Sam's glowing intensified. The teen's eyes turned a bright electric blue as he increased his temperature higher then he had before.

Bucky's metal fingers softened around Nova's fist. Vibranium may be nearly impossible to cut when it's hardened. Not when it's half melted.

Bucky stumbled back with an arm that was now a metal hunk of an indistinguishable shape. He looked up at the teen in shock just before a hit to the head knocked him out.

Peter looked up at Nova with a grin. "That was freaking awesome."

"I know, I'm amazing."

"Aaaaaaand, you ruined it," Peter's expression went flat again.

A surprised yell from Steve and Natasha caught their attention as Danny threw one into the other. They made a dent in the wall and collapsed tangled in one another, struggling to stand.

"Let's go!" Peter jerked his head towards the hall that both Luke and Stark had ran down.

—————————

Luke opened every door, trying to find his teammate. Nothing, nothing and nada. Maybe he should be trying to find the cells. Then again, he didn't think they had cells in a tower like this. He was sure he had opened a hundred door before he found the right one.

"Tiger!"

She looked up from the book she has been reading with a reading light and stared at him in disbelief.

"Luke!" She tried to get off the bed, forgetting the cuffs on her wrists and ankles. She managed to kick the blankets off the bed feebly to show her friend the problem.

He rushed forward and began to break each one. "Did they hurt you? Did you tell them anything? Did you find out anything?"

"Sort of," She tensed at the last question. "I'll tell you guys when Peter's in the room."

Luke nodded, expecting that. He finished breaking them and Ava attempted to stand.

"Crap," she growled when her weak legs made her grip the bed for support. "I've been sitting down for a week, of course."

Luke scooped her up bridal style. He smirked at her outfit. "Nice nightgown."

"Shut it," She snarled.

Peter, Danny and Sam skidded to a stop outside the room, seeing the small light. When Peter realized that he knew the bulky figure in the door frame, he sighed in relief.

"You found her?" Sam asked happily.

"Obviously, she's right there, Buckethead."

"For the last time," Nova snapped irritably. "It's a helmet."

Peter chuckled. "A bucket shaped helmet."

"A helmet shaped helmet."

Ava face palmed, wondering how these idiots even saved her alone. Well, they hadn't saved her yet, but they were there, and that was all she needed.

"Let's go, we don't have all night!" She reminded them, really wishing her legs would work with her so she didn't have to look like a damsel in destress in Luke's arms.

They weren't fast enough.

An arrow whistled through the air and stuck in between Peter's feet as he led the further down the hall. He slid to a stop, his team pushing the breaks behind him.

"You missed!" He yelled to the invisible archer.

The arrow broke open and hissed.

"Did I?" Barton's voice floated through the hallway.

Peter's eyes widened and he shoved his team back, expecting it to explode. In his opinion, it was worse. So much worse.

A high pitched whine wafted from it, practically bursting his ears drums. Peter let out a pained yell and fell to his knees, covering his ears, as if it might help. He had already been through enough damn torture that week!

His felt his team collapse in pain behind them. Ava screamed, her enhanced hearing barely stronger then his own. Peter ripped a hand away to grab the arrow. His arm shook and he yelled out as he crushed the tip neatly in his fist.

His team gasped behind him, the sound finally subsiding. Sam looked up at the vents murderously before launching himself into the ceiling.

Nova shouted in pain. Peter and his team yelled his name in fear. A grunt and a thud was followed by silence.

"Nova?" Peter shouted and pointed his gun upwards.

Sam crawled out and lowered himself to the ground with a wince. "Don't worry, I got 'im."

Danny rushed forward and wrapped an arm around him in support. An arrow was lodged in his shoulder at a painful angle.

Peter swore. "Is he going to be okay?"

"I think so." Danny studied the arrow worriedly. "But it probably doesn't feel very good."

"You got tha' righ,'" Sam mumbled and lifted his head, sharp pain in his eyes.

"Danny," Peter ran a hand through his hair. "Get him out of here."

Danny nodded, trusting the spider's judgement. They limped down the hall to a side window, Danny muttering in Sam's ear. "If you can fly to the ground, I'll steer you, okay...?"

"You too, Power Man," Peter told him softly.

The super soldier immediately shook his head. "I'm not leaving you alone up here."

"Luke, you have to trust me," Peter pleaded. "Jump to the nearest building, she's not in any condition to fight."

"She doesn't appreciate you talking as if she's not even here," Ava reminded him.

"Sorry, but you know it's true."

"I'll be fine–"

"No you won't," Peter cut her off. "I'm not loosing a friend again. Just go. Please. I'll finish the job and be right with you guys.

"Trust me."

They stared at him a few moments.

Ava breathed out slowly. "Fine. Just be careful."

"Don't die," Luke added.

"So inspiring." Peter chuckled. "See you on the other side."

"Mhm," Luke nodded and ran down the hall towards the window Danny and Sam had broken.

"Wait!" Ava suddenly sat straight up and struggled to escape her teammate's arms. "Wait, I have to tell Peter! Peter! Stark, he's your fath–"

Luke leaped out into the night before Peter could hear what she was trying to say. They were gone. So were Danny and Sam.

Peter was on his own.
