Feather's Point of View

I looked at him funny.

"What do you mean, 'What are you waiting for'?" I ask as Ki stared at me.

"Open it!" He said.

"But you found the key! You should get the loot!" I started.

Ki raised his hand.

"Trust me. I have better loot. You have this." He said.

I looked over to the gold chest.
.... There has to be some good loot in here.... Right?  But still... It was nice of him to let me have this..

My fingers traced over the edge of the chest. I quickly flick up the latch and open the chest. I do it slowly as the hinges groan with every move it makes.

My eyes take a moment to look at every item in the chest. I pull out the first item-- A bright blue shield. The way it glinted of the torch light told me that it hasn't been used much.

"Looks like you found a cobalt shield! Now you won't just be depending on your cutlass for defense." Ki said.

Hmm.. A shield? Wonder how much training I'll need to get used to it.

Next...... I hold up a bunch of flares.

"Don't you already have a flare gun?" Ki asked, when he saw me grinning.

"Yes." I quickly reached into my bag and pulled out my flare gun. I loaded the ammo in.

Without warning, I fired it up, the flare wedging between the bricks and showering us in sparks.

"AHHHH! Why would you do that??" Ki shrieked. I shrugged.

"Come on.... When am I going to need a flare gun?!"

I quickly fired several more, this time, the flares lining the walls.

"Hey. You still have some more loot in the chest." Ki said, but I was much more interested with my flare gun. I hastily shoved several bottles of potions and a scepter into my bag.

"Oh my gosh Feather, STOP WITH THE FLARES!!" I had already fired seven more.

"no."

I fired one down the hallway, lighting it up in the process.

"Eeerrrrgggg..." Something groaned. My blood chilled when I saw a group of skeletons, Lurking in the shadows. One of the flares was caught in the eye-socket of a very angry skeleton.

So..... Many of them...

"Feather. Run." Ki said. The True Night's Edge instantly appeared in his hand and he charged with energy.

"No. I will not." I reply.

"Feather, I don't need you getting hurt."

I scoffed.

"I've had worse.." I charged the skeletons.

My cutlass slashed through the skeletons. Ki growled in annoyance and started helping me.

"I don't need you getting hurt." Ki said. I jammed my cutlass through the skull of the flare-skeleton. I shook the body to the floor and started hacking through the other bone-heads.

"Don't worry about me, Ki. I can take care of myself---" I felt something cold wrap around my neck. Cold, fingers dug into my skin, cutting off my windpipe, I struggled and flailed my arms. Ki cut through the middle of the skeleton. He grabbed another one and killed it with a swift shove to the ground and stepping on the bones.

"You need me more than you think." He said, resting his arm on the sword handle.

Through the dark red haze of the flares, something lunged towards us.

"Same goes for you." I grunt. Just before the skeleton sprung out and attacked Ki, I pulled out my shield and blocked the skeleton. I push back on he shield as the skeleton threw it's weight on me.

I pushed the skeleton into the wall and applied force, until I heard ear-splintering bone cracking.

I breathed heavily.

"Well..... That's taken care of..." Ki grabbed my shirt and turned me around.

"No it's not..."

Dozens more skeletons emerged from the darkness, but there were several that looked different.

All around them cast a light blue aura and blue spheres formed in their hands.

Let's go.

Ki grabbed my hand and we dashed down the hallway, the skeleton's following close behind. I hear small explosions and bolts of water landed around, it's amazing that we dodged most of them.

I quickly turned around, firing my flare gun. Surprisingly, It set several skeletons on fire. Even with the several that dropped dead, it barely made a dent in the hoard.

We soon reached a dead end.

"What do we do?!? There's no where else to run?" I ask Ki. He bit his lip.

We need to go up.

Up?

My head turned upwards. I realized that the dungeon started upwards, more hallways branching out.

I quickly grabbed Skeletron's hand and wrapped my arm around Ki's waist.

"Hold on." I say as I shoot the hand upwards. It latched onto a shelf and sent is flying up, away from the skeletons.

I feel like my eyes are going to start bleeding.
