👽👽👽

There aren't many teenagers who are excited about school, especially when they're new. They end up dreading the pressures of not being able to fit in, academics, social life, and relationships. They literally have to drag themselves there, but not the twins, Elena and Kate Russo.

They were found combing each other's hair hastily. They had arrived at their hometown, Aurora, Colorado from New York a day back.

Yet, they didn't want to miss their first "exciting" day as seniors in Aurora High School, which wasn't so far from their home.

"El, why can't you brush my hair properly? Look at how I have done yours," Kate whined, looking at her twin with a defeated expression.

"Too bad, sweetheart, we can't be late for our first day," Elena said with a chuckle and looked at her neatly combed hair with satisfaction.

"Forget me helping you with homework then." Kate scoffed. If her sister wanted mischief, she would get some as well.

"Nice one, K," she said with a grin and left the comb hanging in her tangled hair.

Elena blew her an airy kiss despite her whines and left their room briskly. Too bad her elder sister knew she would always help.

Not even a thing was out of place. Elena hated mess, and under her watch, their room was seldom untidy. Even if it did, it would be her doing, which always earned the wrath of her order-obsessed twin.

Kate sighed and gazed at the spotless mirror. At 5'6 feet, she stood straight, clad in a white T-shirt with the words "You Can Sit With Us" printed on it. Black capri pants and a grayish jacket completed her outfit.

She wasn't a fashionista like her sister, but upon Elena's insistence, she decided to match clothes with her.

She brushed her hair, which would win against a bird's nest if there were a competition titled "Tangled". Mirrors don't lie, yet they can't laugh at you either.

Her amber eyes had light purplish circles around them, all credit to her obnoxious sleeplessness.

The blame could be put on her never-ending chain of thoughts, which wouldn't let her sleep peacefully. New school, new faces, new me?

She needed to forget what had happened in New York. But was leaving behind something, which tortured her with nightmares, so easy?

She brushed her curly brown locks, finally reaching her favorite strand. It was dyed blue to symbolize peace. That particular strand was colored differently according to her mood.

She was excited, yes, a lot in fact, but she never liked change as it made her uneasy. At least you have El by your side.

But when she had changed herself so much, how hard would it be to get used to a new life?

"Kate! Snap out of it," Elena hollered from below. "Get down here, right now."

Kate groaned and grabbed her alien themed backpack. She scrambled downstairs, huffing with each step, and put on a black baseball cap.

She quickly tied the laces of her black sneakers and jumped on her bicycle, flashing her sister an apologetic grin.

Yes, a bicycle... it was Kate's idea of contributing to keeping the Earth green and pollution free. She believed that the aliens would descend upon the world one day and would love the twins for keeping their "guesthouse" pretty.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Elena asked once they entered their new school.

Kate sighed and answered with a grumble, "A happy dance."

"No, silly! The flick and sway!" Elena announced cheerfully, folding her cap within two of her fingers.

"No way. I'm going to the principal's office... you have fun with your movements," Kate said with a scoff.

"Won't you listen to your big sis?" Elena whined.

Kate scoffed again. "Yeah, big deal. Older by five minutes."

"Come on! Just once please," Elena urged. "We'll look so cool."

"Fine, have your way," Kate agreed grudgingly.

"Okay, so just flick your head and let the air blow your hair like a diva," Elena gushed. "Then, sway your hips and walk like a model."

"Just this once, El, you know that I can't act like Barbie."

They began their catwalk with all curious eyes on their skinny forms. Elena flicked her hair ever-so-rightly and looked like "model-material".

Kate, on the other hand, tried to but failed miserably as she sprained her neck and swallowed half of her hair when they had slapped her face roughly. She spat them out disgustedly and glared murderously at her sister.

"I told you that this was a bad idea," she whispered and slapped the back of Elena's head, which sent her baseball cap flying away.

"How dare you!" Elena shrieked and hit her back.

Their fight continued and became an amusing spectacle for the students. A half of them stood there, their nosy mobile phones capturing the twins' slaps to each other, while the other half chanted, "Fight, fight, fight..."

"What is going on here?" the principal boomed, and the voices stopped abruptly. The students scurried off to their respective classes leaving the twins who were pink in the faces, alone.

"Ah! The Russos! First day and trouble in Aurora?" he asked, looking at their ashamed faces.

"We're sorry sir," they mumbled in unison.

"Come with me," he ordered, flicking off their apology with a wave of his hand, a smile gracing his wrinkled face.

"Here you go," he said after ten minutes, handing each twin her schedule. "Good luck!"

The twins mumbled their thanks and rushed off towards their first class, which was English.

"You're late," the teacher informed, staring at them through her thick-rimmed glasses.

"We're sorry Miss..."

"Rogers."

"We're sorry, Miss Rogers," Kate apologized. "We're new."

"Well, now that you're here, why don't you introduce yourselves?" Miss Rogers asked as she gave them a small smile.

Kate gawked at all the faces, Elena doing the same. She sighed in defeat when they didn't find the one they were looking for.

Where was he?

She jumped back to reality when she found everyone's gaze locked on them. "I'm Kate... this is Elena."

"Hi," Elena said, waving her hand. "We arrived from New York yesterday."

Kate sighed. They had returned to this town after five years. Where had all their old friends gone? There wasn't even one here.

"Very well. Help Elena and Kate whenever they need it," Miss Rogers announced and gestured them to take their seats.

"Who cares? Don't we have other things to do?" a nasal voice echoed from the last row.

The voice belonged to a girl, who could easily put Barbie to shame with her painted face. She had donned a short dress with a tiara alighted on top of her blonde head.

"You don't have to be rude, Miss Cooper," Miss Rogers reprimanded her.

"Shut up, old hag! Don't you know? Daddy owns the school," she sneered in a singsong voice. There were a few snickers after hearing this, a few whistles and some laughed fakely.

The teacher, red in the face, remained speechless, however, Elena didn't.

"Hey, Miss Poop!" she cheered, smiling sweetly at the girl. This resulted in gasps from the whole class who watched the scene with bated breaths.

Kate noticed the fear on some faces, some whispered, "Ashley", which she assumed was the girl's name.

"Oh! I'm sorry! A slip of tongue there... Miss Cooper, hey, nice lipstick," Elena said, beaming at her with adoration.

"What are you doing, El?" Kate whispered, nudging her sister's arm, which just earned a smirk from her.

Ashley smirked and eyed her two blonde cronies, who had their hair styled just like her.

"Nice lipstick, but that shade is disturbing my oh-so-delicate eye," Elena sighed dramatically, squinting her dark brown eyes for emphasis.

Kate groaned when Ashley's blue eyes glared at her sister. What was Elena doing? Was it necessary to pick up a fight on their first day?

"And you know what?" Elena continued, confidence in her voice.

"It misses one important ingredient... glue," she finished with a smirk.

Kate dragged Elena's arm and they settled in the front row seats. She opened her textbook once the teacher started giving out instructions.

Miss Rogers smiled at Elena, who smiled back and then turned her brown head towards Ashley to blow her a kiss.

Kate shook her head. When would drama leave her life?
