Taking Flight

As a chilly wind blew and the clouds grew darker and darker, the flock continued on their journey. They couldn't stop now.
Soon enough, they arrived at a cliff. Below was the city, and further ahead was the mountains.
Red came up with a plan as Terence planted the slingshot into the ground.
"If we're going to get to the castle, some of us will have to stay behind to hold the pigs off," Red announced.
"I wish we bought more birds," Bomb said nervously.
"You took the words right out of my mouth," Chuck replied. "There's hundreds of pigs out there, and only... one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine... ten of us!"
The Blues began pulling themselves back with the slingshot.
"Boys, you can't go out there!" Matilda told the Blues, her voice firm but gentle. "It's too dangerous!"
The Blues didn't listen. They just launched themselves anyway. As they began to fall, they split up and crashed into windows, causing all three buildings to crumble.
"Oh, those kids are good," Red thought. "Okay, Matilda. You're next."
Bomb and Chuck pulled the slingshot back and Matilda prepared herself.
"Aren't you nervous?" Silver asked.
"Quite the opposite!" Matilda growled.
"Okay, then," Red muttered. "Fire!"
Matilda was flying through the air. As she started to fall, she prepared herself.
"Bada bing, bada BOOM!!!" she screamed as she launched an explosive egg from her butt.
Tony launched himself and just went straight down, causing a mini earthquake.
The rest of the flock noticed that the pigs were panic. Now was the time to try for the castle.
"Do you want to go ahead or should I?" Silver asked Red.
"No, you can go," he replied.
Silver was terrified, but she was going to go for it.
Terence pulled the slingshot as far back as possible without breaking it.
"Ready?" Red shouted. "Fire!"
Silver screamed as she flew through the air. Then she curled up into a ball as she headed straight for the castle. Now was her chance. Silver straightened out her body, gave her wings a flap, and made a giant loop into the air. She crashed through a stone wall using her skull.
"That'll leave a mark," she muttered, rubbing her head.

"You idiots!" Leonard yelled at his pigs. "You let them escape?!"
"It was the abominable snowbird, boss!" one pig argued.
"He was gonna rip us to shreds!" Ross added.
As Leonard scolded his minions, Ruby, looking through the window, saw Silver crashing in. Since the pigs were distracted anyway, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

"I'm in!" Silver yelled, her voice echoing through the mountains.
"Okay, Terence," Red said. "I need you to aim for the exact same spot, okay?"
Terence nodded and pulled the slingshot back.
"If something goes wrong, get the others, okay?" Red asked Terence, who nodded. "Ready? Fire!"
Red was launched into the air and hurdling towards the castle. He was hoping to crash through the window, but he just missed. Fortunately, he grabbed the edge of the window and held on, hoping someone would help him. Much to his luck, Silver saw him, shattered the glass, and pulled him up.
"Thanks, kid," Red groaned.
"I heard voices down the hall," Silver informed him. "They said the eggs are downstairs."
"Atta girl, Silver," Red replied. "Come on!"
Eventually, Chuck and Bomb joined the two and they found the room. Only for it to be locked and guarded.
"What's the plan?" Chuck asked.
"See that dial with the numbers?" Silver instructed. "One of us needs to spin it in the correct order of numbers. It could be anything. Red, Bomb, you will help me hold the pigs off. Chuck, you have to find the combination. Okay?"
"Got it," Chuck replied.
"Uh, guys?" Bomb alerted. "Where's Red?"

While Silver was explaining the plan, Red noticed Ruby sneaking up on them. So, he started to attack her, but it was pretty clear she's had more brawls than he probably ever will. Eventually, she beat him.
"Any last words?" she whispered in his ear.
"Don't do this," Red pleaded. "I know you don't care, but you should. Those eggs have families that want to watch them hatch and grow. What if one of those eggs was yours? Would you really let those pigs eat your child?! Please, help us."
Ruby glared at him, her eyes narrow, and...

"Gorgeous!" Ruby shouted at Leonard. "I got your kid."
Ruby had Silver tied up and held her in one arm, and the other arm held a bag.
"Silver!" Ross cheered, hugging her. "I missed you so much!"
Silver just sighed sadly.
"And the others?" Leonard asked.
Ruby handed Silver over to Ross, opened the bag, and dumped out red, yellow and black feathers.
"I did what you asked," Ruby said. "Now hand it over."
"Very well," Leonard replied, taking Silver. "Ross, get Ruby her reward."
Ross took off without hesitation.
"Ruby, how would like to join us?" Leonard asked. "You don't have to eat the eggs, but we'd enjoy the extra company."
"I don't have anything to do for the rest of the day," Ruby replied. "I'd love to join you."
"Wonderful," said Leonard, smiling. "Now, if you'll excuse me. I have to make sure everything's ready."
Leonard locked Silver in a birdcage and left. Ruby glared at Silver... then they winked at each other.

Ruby didn't really kill Red, Chuck, or Bomb. What Red told her really moved her. So she agreed to help them.
But what about the feathers?
"Why'd she have to rip them off our butts?" Bomb moaned in pain.
"I don't know, but I don't like it!" Chuck whimpered. "I won't be able to sit for a week! It burns!"
"Probably because you're rubbing it so fast," Red pointed out. All three of them were rubbing their bare bottoms.
"Now, come on," Red whispered. "Stick to the plan, guys. Chuck, crack that code. Bomb and I will take care of the pigs."
"Got it," Chuck replied.

"Come and get us, Chub Chubs!" Red teased at the guards. The four pigs began to wrestle with the two birds.
Chuck, meanwhile, used his super speed to figure out the combination. And once he did, he ran down the hall and back, and tied up the guards with a rope.
"I hope you learned your lesson," Chuck teased.
"Did you unlock the door?" Red asked. Chuck opened the door.
"Does that answer your question?" he replied.

"Where is it, where is it, where is it?!" Chuck kept muttering. He was looking for his egg.
"I'm sure it's in there," Red assured him. "Let's just get them out of here. We don't have much..."
"There it is!" Chuck interrupted, climbing up pile of eggs. His egg was at the top.
"Chuck, what are you doing?!" Red asked rhetorically. "Get down from there!"
"Don't worry, Daddy's got you," Chuck whispered, clearly not listening to Red. Or paying attention to the net, scooping up him and the eggs.
"CHUCK, FOR GOD'S SAKE, GET OFF THE EGGS!!!"
Chuck immediately regained focus. He accidentally tossed his egg aside, climbed out of the net, and pulled on the rope.
"I can't break it!" he cried.
Fortunately, there was a mirror nearby. Red smashed it with his fist, and grabbed a large shard.
"That's bad luck," Bomb told him.
"I don't care!" he snapped. "Chuck! Use this!"
Red tossed the shard into the air and Chuck caught it. The yellow bird cut the rope and the net fell down.
"Let's get them out of here," said Red.
"My egg!" Chuck gasped. His egg rolled off the ledge of an opening close to the roof and fell into the other room.
"What do we do?" Bomb asked.
"You two take care of the rest of the eggs," Red instructed. "I'll save your kid, Chuck."
"I'll give you a boost," Bomb suggested, tossing Red into the air. Red caught the ledge and climbed all the way up.

While Ruby was doing her makeup, Silver removed her headband, turned it into a bow, and tied it around Ruby's head feathers.
"You look beautiful," Silver complimented.
"Don't flatter me," Ruby replied bitterly.
Silver rolled her eyes playfully. Then she noticed an egg on Leonard's throne. It was a light shade of pink with golden speckles. It had to be Chuck's.
"We have a problem," Silver informed Ruby, showing her the egg.
"There's our solution," Ruby replied, pointing up. Red jumped from the ledge and landed right next to the egg.

Leonard came into the room with a smile on his face. Red hid the egg and tucked himself into the red cushions on the throne. Ruby put on the last of her makeup and Silver pretended to look miserable.
"Everything's ready in the dining hall," Leonard informed them. "How are things going in here?"
"I'm fine, but the kid's still whining," Ruby replied.
"Silver, sweetie," Leonard softly said. "I really don't want to do this, but after dinner, I will have to..."
Leonard saw Red's reflection in the bars of the cage. He was holding an egg and trying to escape.
"You!" Leonard yelled. Red froze in place as the pig approached him, his face burning with rage.
"Leave my friend alone!" Silver screeched. Ruby opened the cage, Silver did a loop in the air and attacked Leonard's head, knocking off his crown.

Ross was pulling a wagon, filled with bags filled with gold, using a long rope that was tied around his waist.
Then he saw Silver attacking Leonard. He didn't know what was going on, but he didn't like it. Especially when Leonard literally threw Silver across the room. Her back slammed against the wall and the cage fell on top of her left wing. Silver cried in pain as everyone heard a loud snap.
"Silver!" Ross shrieked. He untied the rope from the wagon and ran to her side. "Are you okay?"
"Oh, my wing..." she whimpered, tears falling from her eyes.
"Let me look at it," Ross insisted, pushing away the cage.

Leonard had Red cornered. Unaware of Silver's injury, Red tossed the egg to her. Silver managed to catch it with her good wing. Ruby saw the dirigible right outside the window. She smashed the window with her arm and tossed Silver and the egg towards it. Silver landed on the airship safely, but what should she do now?
"Silver, wait!" Ross screamed, jumping after her. He barely made it onto the edge. He climbed up and followed Silver to the bow of the ship. His rope nearly ripped in half after getting caught in some broken glass.
"Silver, let's be reasonable," Ross tried to convince her.
"Reasonable?!" Silver gasped. "You were going to eat someone's children! How would you feel if someone ate your children?!"
"I don't have any children," Ross pointed out.
"You had me."

Red, Ruby and Leonard saw everything. Without hesitation, Leonard began to run for the window. Fortunately, Ruby knew what to do.
"Get the kid, I'll take care of King Stupid," she told Red, throwing him to the dirigible.
Red landed in the middle of the ship. But at the same time, Leonard followed. He just landed on the edge, but his body weight shook the airship, causing Ross and Silver to slip and fall with the egg.
"Silver!!!" Red screamed. Ross held the egg as he fell, and Silver grabbed the other end of the rope with her good wing. The rope split into two, but Red managed to grab both of them.

Leonard climbed up and found Red. He was ready to attack, but not for Ruby to attack him!
Once Ruby got Leonard's attention, they glared at each other.
"Oh, you look sexy when you're mad," Ruby said sarcastically.
"We had a deal," Leonard growled.
"Well, the deal just expired," Ruby joked. "Now, let's finish this."

Silver looked below her. It had to at least be a hundred feet to the ground. She wasn't sure if there was a soft layer of snow or just solid stone.
Nevertheless, she knew what had to be done.
"I need you to pull Ross up," Silver explained. "He has the egg."
"And you'll just fly up here, right?" Red asked, making sure.
"I can't," Silver admitted. "I broke my wing. You need to let go of me."
Red couldn't believe it. It was either Silver or the egg.
"I can't do that," he said weakly.
"Of course you can," Silver argued. "Just let me fall to my death and pull Ross up. It's that simple."
"I can't do it if it means I have to lose you!" Red cried. "I love you, Silver..."
Silver was taken aback. That was the nicest thing anyone's ever said to her. And he truly meant it.
"I love you, too," Silver replied. Shedding some tears, she gave him a melancholic smile. "Which is why I won't make you choose."

With that, Silver let go.

Please don't kill me... 😭
