As you continue to travel the never-ending corridors, you stumble upon a door. The wood is very old and there appears to be cobwebs forming in the top corners. Whatever was behind it, the owner hadn't used it in a long time.

Now you really had to check it out.

Gripping the door handle, you pry the structure open. When it clicks, the sudden force sends you tumbling into a hidden room.

Papers are littered all over the floor, most crumpled into miniature balls. You grab one of the papers and unfold it, looking over what seemed to be a rough draft for a human character.

As you grab another sheet, you see yet another rough draft. A few notes are scribbled in the margins saying, "It's not enough."

What did that mean?

"I was hoping you wouldn't find this room," the voice from before mumbled, nearly giving you a heart attack.

They shook it off and continued. "I've spent years developing characters the world could enjoy. Have you noticed that none of them are human?"

A scrap of paper begins to lift off the ground as if someone was holding it in their hands. "For years I've tried to grasp the idea of a non-fictional character, but it's never enough." The paper then drops. You quickly reach for it and hold it close to your chest. Now that you were off the ground, you see a small lounge chair and desk. Unlike the rest of the Archives, there's only a few books resting on and beside the furniture.

"I can't deny your curiosity," they said softly, voice growing distant. "Just know that I'm not proud of...this."

With their last breath, the ominous voice vanished, leaving you to explore whatever books your heart desired.
