Mr Kristofferson looks out the door where his wife just exited the room. He takes a breath before saying. "I need to tell you something, Chad."

Chad leans forward in his chair and looks at his father. "What is, Dad?" He looks at the door as well waiting to see if his mother will walk through the door again, but she doesn't he turns to attention back to his father.

"Gwen, isn't your mother." Mr Kristofferson looks away ashamed. "She was the woman that came into my life after your biological mother died during childbirth."

Chad's face pales and he looks at the ground. "Am I your son?"

Mr Kristofferson nods. "Yes, I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier about my wife, but since you started pulling away from the family to start your own she been acting crazy. I've tried talking to your siblings, but they don't care what their mother is going through and you're the only one that I can think of that can make her get the help she needs."

Looking at him I say. "She's not going to want the help that we can give her." I hold Chad's hand. "She's been threatening me since yesterday. She wanted me to leave Chad and when I did your son chased me down because he loves me and I love him, but the reason I left was because my hormones are all over the place."

He laughs. "I remember how Gwen's was when she was pregnant." His eyes open wide as he looks between his son and I."

I smile. "Surprise."

His entire face lights up as he looks at us. "That's great news. My eldest is going to be a father and not only that my entire fortune will be passed down to as requested by your mother."

Chad moves over to his father. "What did she leave me?"

Mr Kristofferson begins to cough and I see blood come out of his mouth. He whispers. "A fashion company it's worth a fortune and the two of you will live comfortably off it, if you wish to quit your jobs.

That's the last thing I want to do. I love my job and working closely with a friend whose also my boss. I get to also work closely with my husband, but lately we haven't been doing much working.

Chad presses the button for the nurse and we wait for someone to walk into the room. He runs his hand through his father's greying hair and says. "It is okay, Dad." He whispers. "If you want to leave. I'll be greatly sad and I'll miss you, but remember that you did the best you could and you fought until I could get her and say 'goodbye.' I love you, Dad and thanks for telling me about my biological mother. I'm going to look for her family." He holds his hand out to me and I walk over to him.

Placing my hand in Chad's I whisper. "Thank you for welcoming me into your family, Mr Kristofferson. I'm sorry that we couldn't get to know each other." A smile spreads across my face. "I want you to know that you raised a great son and you should be proud."

Then Mr Kristofferson's machine goes beep as he passes away.

Chad falls to the ground taking me with him, but he makes sure that I don't hit the ground. I land on his lap and he places his face into the crook of my neck. "He's gone, Grace." Tears begin to fall down his face and it makes me cry as well.

The door to the room opens and Mrs Kristofferson walks into the room with a nurse. She yells at her. "BRING HIM, BACK!"

The nurse places her hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, Mrs Kristofferson. I can't do that. It says not to resuscitate him on the charts and I can't go against my orders."

She looks at Chad and I. "You took my chance to say 'goodbye' to my husband. How can the two of you be greedy?"

Chad looks at the nurse. "I want you to take my mother to the psychiatric ward. I'm thinking it's best that she gets some help before she does something she'll regret. I would like a doctor to see me about her progress. She won't have any rights about this." He pulls his phone out of his pocket and makes a phone call.

Mrs Kristofferson is taken away screaming and telling people that she doesn't need help.

Chad: Hey, Levi. It's Chad. Can you help me out?

Levi: Sure, what do you need?

Chad: I need a lawyer to sign all right of my mother to me. She's been threatening my wife and I'm afraid she's going to hurt her, but I can't have her locked up because Dad just passed away a couple minutes ago.

Levi: I'm sorry to hear about that, man. I'll call up the Lawyer and he'll be by the house in a couple of hours.

Chad: I won't be at the house. Grace and I are staying at The Hamilton for a couple nights. We were still supposed to be on our babymoon, but had to cut it short because of Dad being put in the hospital.

Levi: Alright, I'll pass that onto the Lawyer. How about we meet at Lusive on Saturday night?

Chad: Sure, I can't wait to discuss a few things with you over a couple drinks.

They say there 'goodbyes' before hanging up.

Chad looks at me. "I have to send a message to my siblings telling them about Dad and Mom. I don't know if they'll care that she's getting psychiatric help, but it's worth a shot to see who will care."

I place my hand on his arm. "I'm sure they'll care about there. She shouldn't be your problem as she's not your real mother, but you'd still stop everything you're doing to make sure that she feels loved and wanted."

He nestles his face his in my neck again. "She's the only mother I ever knew and just because she's been acting a bit nuts doesn't mean I'm going to turn my back on someone that needs help. Just like you wouldn't turn your back on anyone that needs yours."

He's right. I would never turn my back on those that need some help.

Chad's phone starts going off with messages and he turns towards me. "They all reached out to me. It's the first time they've cared about anything." He opens the first message.

Benson: I'm sorry about, Dad. I'm glad you were there instead of Mom. I hope they throw away the key to the fruit loop.

That's not a nice thing to say about your mother.

Chad reads the other three put and they all seem to be sad that their father has passed away, but they couldn't care less about what's happening to their mother. He doesn't look too happy. "They're ungrateful brats. Gwen did everything she could for them and they don't care that I have to be the one in charge of her wellbeing."

We have a funeral that we need to plan now. I'll do everything I can to make this easy for him.
