Monday...

We spent the rest of yesterday hanging out by the fire, enjoying each other's company, which was a welcomed change...

After everyone woke up, we packed our things and headed to our respective vehicles.

"Brunch, Friday, I'm looking at you two." Madison said, pointing to Gwen and I.

"Trust me, we'll be there." I replied.

Madison flashed me a smile before pulling me into a tight hug. Then, she turned to Gwen, awkwardly moving her arms.

Gwen put her hand up. "A handshake will do fine."

Madison nodded, shaking Gwen's hand. "Thank god."

They shared a laugh before Madison headed back to her car, Winter stepping up shortly after. "I don't know how to thank you guys." She said.

"Just, make sure she stays happy." I replied.

Winter nodded, pulling me into a hug. "You got it."

She gave us a wave before heading over to Madison's car.

Jo and Lola walked up then, hand in hand. "Thanks again for coming, guys." Lola said.

Jo rubbed the back of her neck. "Yeah, we probably would've killed each other if you weren't here."

Gwen and I laughed. "True." I said.

"Bri's the one that deserves all the credit, though." Gwen added, flashing me a warm smile.

I returned it. "C'mon, I couldn't have done it without your support."

She took my hand then, moving closer to me. "True. We make a pretty good team, huh?"

I closed the distance between us, pressing my lips to hers. "That we do."

"Alright, I think that's our cue." Jo said.

We all shared a laugh as Jo and Lola waved us off, heading to their car.

Gwen and I hopped on her bike and took off after everyone else.

I watched the ocean pass us by, a little smile still on my lips...

My mom greeted us as we walked through the door. "Hey, girls, how was your weekend?"

Gwen and I shared a look. "Interesting." She said.

   I nodded. "Yeah, no kidding."

After filling my mom in on our weekend, we headed back to my room.

Gwen turned the radio on as I sat on the edge of my bed. "Who's this?" I asked.

She started bobbing her head to the beat. "Blue Öyster Cult. Cities on Flame with Rock N' Roll, baby!"

I started laughing as she head banged along to the song, playing an imaginary guitar.

"You're crazy, you know that." I said.

She faced me. "Crazy for you."

I let out a yelp as she hauled me up, twirling us around in a loose rhythm.

My laughter continued as she belted out the next lyrics. "Let that girl, let that girl rock and roll!"

Then, she pulled me close, pressing a fierce kiss to my lips. "I love you, Bri."

I blushed. "I love you to, but what's gotten into you?"

She turned the radio down, sitting on the edge of my bed.

I sat down next to her as she spoke. "Remember the conversation we had at the beach house?"

I nodded. "About moving in together?"

She nodded back. "Well, remember I said there were some things we had to do first?"

   "Yeah..?"

She suddenly got down on one knee. "Those things were this. I know this is gonna sound crazy... But, will you marry me?"

I stood up quickly, my heart beating faster. "Wait what?"

"Briana, I love you. I love so much I don't even know what to do with myself sometimes... I wanna spend the rest of my life with you, Bri..." She said, hopefulness in her eyes.

I felt a single tear roll down my cheek. "Where is all this coming from?"

She let out a sigh as she stood. "Watching you these last couple days. The way you helped everyone... Listening to their stories... We only have one life to live and most of us spend so much time worried about what other people think that we never stop to think about ourselves... I know I love you and I know you're the only girl for me... Why wait? Why overthink it?"

A little smile tugged at my lips. "You really are crazy..."

She lowered her head, rubbing the back of her neck. "Yeah, maybe you're right..."

I let out a small laugh. "I am... But, my answer is yes."

   She looked up quickly. "Really?"

I nodded. "Like you said, I know I love you and I don't ever wanna lose you."

She let out a happy laugh as she pulled me into a tender kiss.

The door suddenly opened and my mom poked her head in. "Girls-"

She stopped herself short and quickly turned around as we pulled apart.

"Sorry, mom... We were, uh-" I started, but my mom raised her hand.

"It's ok, no need to explain." She said.

"Actually, Pam, we probably should." Gwen said.

My mom looked quizzically at us. "What do you mean?"

Gwen and I held hands, sharing a look. "Gwen just proposed..." I said.

Gwen flashed her an uncertain smile. "Surprise."

My mom stared blankly between the two of us.

"She's gonna kill me." Gwen whispered.

"Not if she kills me first." I whispered back.

Then, my mom pulled us into a giant hug. "Oh my god, are you serious!"

   "Uh, yes." I said.

She pulled back then. "And? What'd you say?"

   "I said yes."

   My mom squealed. "Holy shit."

   "Mom." I scolded.

She covered her mouth. "I'm so sorry, honey, but I have to call your grandmother. Holy shit."

   I started laughing. "Mom, relax."

She covered her mouth again, a few tears welling in her eyes. "I love you, sweetie." Then, she pulled me into another quick hug before bolting out of the room. Presumably to make a few phone calls.

Gwen and I stood in silence for a second. "I guess it's official, huh?" She said.

I nodded. "Yeah, I guess so."

She stood in front of me then, taking my hands in hers. "Now's your chance if you wanna back out." I said.

She chuckled lightly. "I appreciate the offer, but I'll have to pass, Mrs. Hawkins."

I laughed in return. "Then, welcome to the family, Mrs. Cole..."

Ah, the bad girl. The girl who did whatever she wanted and didn't give a shit what anybody thought. Like, proposing to me at the young age of nineteen. I know it sounds crazy and some people may think we were being foolish. That young love as a whole was foolish.

Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but we don't really give a shit what you think...

The End
