Once the party was over and everyone else went home, Webs and Quentin followed the fake Gabi back to her apartment under absolute discretion. Webs sneaked past the door right before Millicent closed and locked it. Not knowing she was being watched, Millicent rolled up her sleeve and pressed a few tiny buttons on her wristwatch.

“Hello, Millicent!" Marmalade greeted. “How are things going?"

“Good, except I have some concerns," she admitted.

“So, it is Marmalade," Webs said angrily.

“Concerns? Does anyone know you're not really Gabriela?"

“I don't think anyone suspects anything," Millicent answered.

“Then you have nothing to worry about," Marmalade assured her.

“But sir," she argued, “I'm just not sure how long I can keep this up. Everybody just expects a lot from me... Gabriela, but I can't make my own wedding dress or be a good friend to her friends or pretend to love someone I barely even know... Although he is funny and sweet and scary and cute and..."

“Stop right there, Millicent," Marmalade interrupted. “You do make an excellent point. Tell you what? I'm gonna go find a way to speed things up and get all of this over with quicker. All you have to do is convince Mr. Piranha and the others to move up the wedding. Can you do that?"

“I don't know... but I can try."

“There's a good girl," Marmalade said. “Oh, and one other thing. Tonight at 10:30, would you be a dear and kill whoever's at this address?"

“Yes, sir," Millicent replied as she memorized the coordinates on the watch. Once Marmalade hung up on her, she decided to take a shower and took off her watch before heading into the bathroom. As she heard the water turn on, Webs opened the door back up and Quentin quietly slithered inside.

“And what do you think you're doing?" a familiar voice blurted out. Webs and Quentin turned around to find Diane standing behind them with her paws on her hips.

“Governor Foxington?" Quentin said in surprise.

“Diane, we can explain," Webs insisted.

“No need, I can see what's going on here," Diane confirmed. “Quentin, I suggest you go home to your family. Now."

“Yes, Madam Governor," Quentin said quietly, slithering out the door.

“Diane, you don't understand," Webs tried to explain. “Gabi is..."

“Missing, I know."

“You know?!" Webs exclaimed.

“Keep your voice down," Diane said in a hushed tone. “Now, let's get that watch."

With that, Webs crawled on top of the dresser, grabbed the watch, and connected it to her laptop. After a little hacking into the watch's call history, she managed to get the coordinates of Marmalade's location.

“Is that Serenade Cliff?" Webs asked. “That's where Marmalade is?"

“Very clever," Diane admitted. “Hidden away in a place where teenagers sing to their sweethearts. Now, let's get out of here before she gets out of the shower."

“Say, Diane, how did you know that she wasn't really Gabi?" Webs asked as they left the apartment.

“I called and told her about the jailbreak last night, and I had a hunch something was up with her," Diane explained. “If this was the real Gabi, she would've been a lot more terrified. Then, at the party, I noticed that she didn't have her scar, so it had to be someone pretending to be her."

“Her name is Millicent," Webs informed her. “I also found a street address and heard Marmalade tell her to kill whoever lives there."

“Of course!" Diane said. “Scientists have been studying genetic editing to see if they can alter certain genomes to save people who might inherit terminal diseases. Marmalade must've rewrote the DNA of another angelfish so it would perfectly match Gabi's and tampered with her brain so she would obey his every command."

“But why would Marmalade want to make a clone of Gabi?" Webs asked.

“Only one way to find out," Diane replied. “But first, we need to warn whoever Marmalade told Millicent to kill."

“I should kill you right now," Marmalade said angrily as Gabi writhed in pain from another shocking. “If Millicent develops a conscience, I may lose control over her and all my hard work will be ruined!"

“What did you expect?" Gabi asked once the shock ended. “She's surrounded by people who care about each other. All you ever cared about is yourself. I wager you were horrible to her."

“Horrible is a strong word," Marmalade pointed out. “But no matter. The sooner Millicent marries Piranha and frames him for her own death, the sooner the Bad Guys will go to prison and I will have my revenge."

“You monster..." Gabi panted.

“Gabriela, don't call people names," Marmalade warned as he electrocuted her again, though not as strong as the other shocks. “Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to find somewhere that'll be available for a wedding tomorrow."

“No one can prepare for a wedding in just one night..." Gabi pointed out. “It's impossible."

“My favorite word."
