Chapter 9
Betrayals and Depressions

Rosemary walked briskly in the dark alleys of New York. Even after living here for almost her whole life, she still felt uncomfortable walking there. Due to her pace, she almost stumbled.

Newt held her arm, and steadied her. Rosemary still wasn't fully recovered, and after Alex left, no one except for Newt could balance her.

Her jacket fit snugly against her skin, as she tightened the straps of her backpack. It was a chilly evening, and Rosemary didn't like them very much.

Tina led the way through the confusing paths, and it led down to a subway opening, only it was blocked by a wall with a graffiti sprayed on it.

Tina and Queenie put their wands out, and pointed it at their clothes and flicked it. They both changed into skinny dresses, and strapped skirts.

They both looked at Rosemary, who looked at them wide-eyed. "No way." She muttered, yet Queenie flicked her wand at Rosemary, and she was wearing a snugly fitted navy blue dress that reached until her thighs. "Ugh."

Newt pointed his wand at his collar, and it fixed into a bowtie. "That would have been better." Rosemary muttered to herself, and shivered. She wished that Queenie could have at least left her jacket with her.

Tina knocked on the wall. There were a bit of rumbling at the background, when the eyes of the graffiti woman were opened, and a new set of eyes appeared instead.

"We've come to see Gnarlak." Tina said, the wall then opened, and they all went in with a nervous look on their face.

They didn't notice the blonde traitor eyeing them with suspicion in his eyes, before Disapparating.

Rosemary shifted uncomfortably in the bar. There were lots of people, men in formal wear, while the girls wore bare dresses that showed a huge amount of skin, which made her wrinkle her nose.

She hated parties, for one. Rosemary never liked a big audience, and would preferably be alone in the corner, doing her own thing. Yes, she would like that very, very, much.

"What do you want." She whirled to see a house elf glaring at her. Rosemary acted at once. "Oh! Just... wine." She requested quietly.

The elf slid down a bottle of it, and a cup filled with ice. Within a few seconds, the bottle filled up the cup with wine, which Rosemary took.

"Thanks." She said, as she took a shot of it. Rosemary wasn't really susceptible to drunken madness, so she could manage to drink 5 shots of wine.

Tina and Newt tried their best to negotiate for information with Gnarlak, who looked unimpressed by their offers. He shook his head.

Rosemary's gaze changed to a young blonde man on the corner. He had his black hood on, and was fiddling with his wand. Curious, Rosemary approached him warily.

"Um, hello." She greeted him awkwardly, the man looked up at her, and for a brief moment, they locked eyes together. Rosemary's hazel eyes, with his chocolate brown eyes.... Which looked familiar to her.

He looked down immediately. "Hey." was all he muttered. Rosemary raised a brow as she went to side. "Okayyy.." She mumbled quietly as she left.

Gnarlak was holding Pickett in his sloppy hands. Poor Pickett looked sad and forlorn. Newt sighed quietly.

"Ah. A Bowtruckle. They're indeed valuable." Gnarlak said in sheer amusement, as he examined Pickett.

They talked for a bit, and at the corner of Rosemary's eye, she saw the blonde man stand up, and remove his hood.

And Rosemary felt horrified, as her mouth gaped open, and in terror she shouted. "ALEX!"

He turned to her, and his eyes were furious when he saw her. "MACUSA!" Someone came running and Disapparted. There were more Aurors coming by, and more customers Disapparating to a safer place.

"Rosemary!" Newt grabbed her arm, as she froze on her spot and stared at Alex. "Alex.." She said softly, her tone sounding forlorn and depressed.

"Rosemary! We gotta leave!" Newt shouted at her, and she snapped out of her daze, and ran with Newt.

They all Disapparted away.

Alex watched Rosemary, as she vanished in thin air, and gritted his teeth in anger. "He will pay."

Tina decided they go to Macy's, since that's where Gnarlak told them to head for the other creatures of Newt.

"What are you doing here in New York, anyways?" Rosemary asked Newt, who just shrugged. "I came here to buy an Appaloosa Puffskein." He said, yet again, with the same excuse.

Rosemary didn't push him any further. She didn't feel like it anyways, as she knew that someone needs privacy. Well... Rosemary needed privacy.

Upon seeing Alex a while ago, it felt like someone stabbed her in the chest, and she couldn't properly breathe. She never thought that he would even ever betray her. They were good friends.

Rosemary pondered on one thought ever since he left her. Has their friendship ended like this?

Tina put her hands in her coat's pockets, as she tried to search for the Macy's store. Queenie and Jacob just conversed for a little bit, but stopped too, at the end.

Newt was unusually quiet, well, he always is anyways, and Rosemary didn't like it. "Huh."

Newt bit his lower lip and turned to Rosemary, who kept on walking. "I saw the way you were looking at him." He said in a soft tone. Rosemary gave him a raised brow. "Alex, I mean."

Rosemary mouthed an oh, before she stared coldly at the ground. She knew that Newt was concerned, and as far as he is concerned, she is way depressed.

Lucky that Newt isn't a Legilimens. "I'm totally okay, Alex just had to leave. He never even wanted me, anyways." Rosemary felt hot tears form behind her hazel eyes. Newt just shrugged.

"I'm sorry." was all he said, before turning his back at Rosemary. Betrayals and Depressions was the right word to explain what she is feeling at the current moment.

Rosemary had the urge to call Newt. "Newt." She said quietly, and he looks at her with soft eyes. "What?"

"You have to understand. I can't be with you, my father..." Rosemary swallowed back her sobs, before Newt hugged her tight.

"Sh.. Sh., shh.." He hushed her, with a worried look on his adorable face. Newt gripped Rosemary's shoulders. "Don't say that, Rose, don't say that."

But Rosemary was already cursing herself inside. "No, Newt. I'm sorry! Percival Graves is my father, and he'll not stop finding you!" She raised her voice, as it almost reached the peak.

Newt suddenly turned to her. "Rosemary Graves. I do not care if you are the daughter of the head of the Magical Security." He said, with firm determination in his voice.

Rosemary opened her mouth to protest, but Newt put a finger to his lips, signaling her to be quiet. "Because, Rosemary.., because.."

"What because, Newt?! WHAT!?"

"I've seen you now, and I can't forget you, Rosemary Graves."

And here we have it! I just had to add the quote I made up for Newt to say it, because it's almost part of the whole story. I hope you enjoyed it, and tomorrow, I might have updates, but it'll come up a bit late for I still have homework! But I will get to you guys, so thanks for the votes, and reads! Keep on reading and voting, and please suggest this to your friends!!!! 😆😆😆
