Mayuzumi Chihiro: Books

by Leader Coracchi // Cora-chan

Doubt slowly started to sink in as you waited in Mayuzumi's room. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. You glanced at the clock and gulped. It was too late to turn back now.

The first of March was a mere ten days away when you began planning your surprise for your basketball-playing boyfriend. This task was a difficult one considering how isolated your darling beloved is. You only had yourself to rely on since he didn't care for speaking to others.

After lots and lots of brainstorming, you decided to buy him a book. The problem is after you bought it, you began to worry. What if the book wasn't good enough? So you bought another book. And another. And another.

Ten days passed and here you are nervously fidgeting around in your boyfriend's room with over a dozen books wrapped up in brightly colored paper and bows. Your empty wallet cried in your pocket and you felt like joining it. What if he thought you did too much?

You jumped when you hear the front door to the house open and panic. Mayuzumi's footsteps grew louder and louder as you search for a place to hide. You pressed yourself against the wall and held your breath. He entered the room and you could see confusion fill his features as his eyebrows pulled together and his lips parted.

"Happy birthday!" You greeted loudly.

Mayuzumi flinched in surprise then turned around. Relief chased away his confusion, and he grinned. "Did you do this?"

"Yeah," you laughed sheepishly and scratched your cheek. "Do you like it?"

"I have to open them first." He said, his tone light and amused.

The silver-haired boy set his backpack down then sat on the bed. You followed him and gave him his greeting kiss — you didn't miss his blush. Mayuzumi grabbed the first book closest to him and paused.

"______-chan, how much did all of this cost?" He asked.

You rolled your eyes. "That doesn't matter! Just open them!"

Mayuzumi shook his head then proceeded to open all of the books. You noted how his gaze lit up upon seeing certain series and sometimes he'd let out small comments. By the end of the unwrapping, he had a giant grin on his face and you were extremely proud of your book selecting skills.

"Thank you," he said and kissed you on the cheek.

"You're welcome," you beamed.

You kissed him on the lips and he wrapped his arm around your waist, eliciting a yelp from you when he fell back with you on top of him. Giggles ensued and he had a very happy birthday.
