My name's Hiccup. Great name I know. But that's not the worst of it. I'm not just the runt of the tribe. Disappointment to my father and the Haddock family name. I'm also blind. I was born blind and when I was younger my dad used to tell me my mother loved me. She taken away when I was 3 years old. When I started to become adventurous, my father started to think less of me. I wanted to help with the dragon invasions but apparently a blind Viking is completely useless when it comes to fighting or helping. But what my father didn't know was that I found another way to get around the village without having someone by my side 24/7. I walk around barefooted. I feel the vibrations in the earth so i know what people are doing around me and so i know what part of the village I'm in by the different textures on the ground. I started learning how to do this when i was 10. My favourite place to visit is the forest. No one is there to tell me what to do or to tell me I'm about to run into something. Guess what i know it's there. I just had my 16th birthday a few weeks ago. Not like anyone cared about me anyway. I have no friends,my father only cares about me when he doesn't know where i am at all times and the girl i have a crush on doesn't know i exist. My life couldn't get any worse right? Wrong. It gets much worse.

I thought I'd post the first chapter of this book today and I'll post the first proper chapter on the weekend. The front might be a bit of a challenge but I'll figure it out.
