This story is not a modern-day tale of Romeo and Juliet. It is a tale of decades of enmity between two families, the Shergills and the Oberois. Enmity over land, power, and money. Tracing their roots to small opposing villages in Karpurthala, Punjab, the Shergills and Oberois have fought for decades over neighboring farmlands they have held which are connected to one another in the two villages. The enmity gone to a level that it has entered the halls of justice and law where they have fought for a particularly expensive piece of land which the Shergills and Oberois have filed a lawsuit against one another. However, this enmity runs deeper as there are family secrets that both Shergills and Oberois hold. Beyond such, over the years, the Oberois have come to strengthen and increase their power in Karpurthala and rest of Punjab while the Shergills have further slumped into debt and loss. Thus, an imbalance of power calling for a tragedy to occur.

This enmity has come into question with the fourth generation of Shergills and Oberois seen in the forms of Anika Shergill and Shivaay Singh Oberoi. Over the years, Shivaay Singh Oberoi has helped to expand the Oberois' grasp on power by buying more farmlands, creating textile factories, dairy farms which have expanded their power hold in Punjab. Indeed, Shivaay acts out of the norm from rest of his family as he spends most of his days in Jalandhar with occasional visits to his home in the local village.

Seeing her family in debt due to losses in crops, Anika takes up a job at a textile factory-that is all her family knows with them being unaware that she works for Shivaay Singh Oberoi. Circumstances push Anika's childhood attraction for Shivaay to further solidify. She fights against such desires, but fails. On the other hand, Shivaay is forming some soft corner for Anika which he lacks to be aware of, but is seen.

Indeed, the story will unfold at a critical point when Shivaay's father passes away due to Anika's close family member. The love story begins from such tragic point where the true meaning of enmity and marriage will be questioned as Shivaay and Anika will be bond in marriage and stuck at crossroads on what choices they should make and what to choose at the end, is it family or only one another?
