Helena's POV

The crowd applauds and screams ensure with approval at Xander's outstanding performance. Now I see why people try their best to watch him live because this feeling running through me can only be brought about by his amazing voice and beautiful lyrics.

While the crowd cheers, I'm standing limply, too stunned to join in their actions as electricity buzzes in me. A smile is prominent on my face and a blush on my cheeks as he blesses the crowd with a heart-gripping wink.

Like a true gentleman, he waves as he climbs down, and with the help of my 6inch heels, I observe him being slapped on the back by Justin Bieber. Hailey offers him a kiss on the cheek before he exchanges pleasantries with Wizkid, Tems, Selena, and a few others who arrived after he got on stage.

I wonder how clueless he was to invite Selena Gomez, don't get me wrong, she's a wonderful artist and a beautiful woman at that but I can understand how she may feel being in the same space as her Ex and his wife.

Speaking of, it's Justin's turn to go up and now I can't locate Xander's midnight curls with the mass of people that seem to have multiplied in just a few minutes. Hopefully, the bouncers are still doing their job because I'm sure the more the news spread in this small town that we've got celebrities around, the more people we expect to see.

Allison ditched me immediately after Xander's ending note to dance with a cute guy, and now all alone in this mass of humans, I conclude to go and find him instead of waiting around for him to show up hence with the number of people swarming around, it'll take a decade before he reaches me.

Holding on to that thought, my feet begin moving as I brush a few shoulders and separate a few couples while at the same time muttering the words "excuse me," for what may be a thousand times.

"Finally," I breathe, reaching a part of the room that isn't swarming with adults thus everyone is drawn to the stage like a moth to a light. Gathering my composure, I run my hands along my thighs that are concealed by the sleek black dress to help smoothen any creases that must have appeared by the hassle I've through.

"You can do this," I tell myself, shutting my eyes for a moment and opening them to scan from this angle in the hopes of seeing him. Luckily I do, and excitement pulses through me as I sight him looking as handsome as ever.

His orbs happen to be scanning the perimeter and I take this to my advantage as he appears not to have spotted me yet. Smiling nervously I slowly catwalk toward him only to come to a stop when a female blocks me from him.

Though I'm not getting a view of her face her figure sure is one to die for. Her silky hair falls elegantly on her back and the gold dress she's donning, that's if it can be called that, clings to her curves and halts an inch below her ass.

Her legs are situated in knee-length leather boots and she appears to be in a serious conversation with Xander. It seems not to be working out as the minutes' tick by while I stand with arms folded.

It gets to a point when she flips a hair behind her shoulder and catches me watching them. Her gaze lasts only for a second rather she must have guessed I was waiting for her arm candy because the next thing I see is her lips locking on his.

I don't think much about it hence she might be one of his psycho exes or a crazy fan but what hurts me is the fact that Xander doesn't push her away. I can't see if he kisses her back or not, but their lips remain locked.

My heart feels like it's being sliced and I discreetly notice my lips tremble as her hand goes to circle his neck and press him down to hers. Tears cloud my vision and I turn away at that precise moment while shaking my head at the crazy thought I had that maybe I mean something to him.

"Let's get out of here," I croak out as I spot Allison conversing with that same guy close to the exit. She pauses at the sound of my voice thus the crowd seems to be quiet and entranced by Wizkid and Tems performance of Essence.

"What's wrong?" She inquires, squinting her brows in confusion and worry like a good bestfriend.

"I just want to leave," I mumble, circling my arms around myself in the hopes of keeping my heart from breaking by the second.

"Okay, darling." She nods and immediately abandons the dude to place her hand in mine. Holding myself from falling into a pool of despair, I walk beside her black leather skirt and red off-the-shoulder-clad figure till we arrive at the red carpet.

Reporters swam us immediately but she manages to weave us through them. My head remains down as questions are thrown from angles.

"I said no comment!" She screams at a stubborn female journalist who doesn't seem to give up. Surely that does the trick as she steps away from our view and no other newsman or woman hinders our movement till we arrive at Allison's car.

I'm glad she came with hers hence we would have been stuck searching for a ride if she didn't. She crosses over to the driver's side and enters, unlocking the passenger door from within.

"What exactly happened?" She implores as she puts the engine to life and swerves out of the premises.

"I caught Xander kissing a lady," I blurt, staring out of the window.

"I thought you didn't care for him that way," she responds, coming off as perplexed.

"I guess it's true what they say, the relationship that hurts the most is the one you aren't even in yet," I say, realizing I sound so stupid.

"Where did you read that?" She interrogates.

"I think on Instagram or something." I shrug, inhaling a deep breath.

"You know it might not be what you think right?" She asks, and I feel her gaze briefly on my skin before she turns back to the road. "The guy's a celebrity so he's bound to have crazy exes and psycho fans."

"Same thing I thought but he didn't push her away, you know what that means," I argue.

"Still, just have a little faith in the guy," she insists and I keep mute, not thinking that statement deserves a response as I get lost in my head.

Should she have faith in our Xander?🌚
