Bel's POV:

Then next morning Jer leaves early to finish packing. I head over later to say my final goodbyes. I stay on the porch. Elena stand there and glares at me, but I pay no mind. When he walks out I give him one last hug. "Remember, call everyday." "Of course." "I'm gonna miss you Jer."

"I'll miss you too." I hear footsteps behind me and see Bonnie running up behind him. I nod to her and then take it as my cue to leave. "Goodbye Jer." I say. He nods. With that I walk away. I don't look back. Not looking back signifies that I won't forget you.

I did the same thing when I left over a year ago to get away from this place. Now the roles are reversed. He knows what it means. I get into my car and drive to my apartment. In light of the only family member I have leaving I decide to take the day to myself.

I ignore all phone calls sent my way. I bask in the ability I have to just block the world out, even if it is just for a short while. I need this. I spend the rest of the day doing normal tasks. Doing laundry, cooking, baking specifically, cleaning up. It's nice to be normal for a day.

That is until I get a phone call late at night from one Klaus Mikaelson. It's the fifth one in the last five minutes. "Why weren't you answering? Are you ok?" He asks in a rush. I roll my eyes. "I'm fine. I just needed some time to myself. What's up?"

"I need you at the house, immediately." "Why? What's wrong?" "Nothing's wrong, I got my coffins back and I want to celebrate." My eye widen. "What? How did you get them back?" "Stefan gave up the location. Thing is, they manages to keep the most important one."

"You mean the one with your-" "Yes, now, will you please come here?" He asks, this time nicer. I sigh. "Sure, just give me a few minutes." "Great. See you soon love." With that I hang up. I push myself off my couch and grab my keys. This better be good.

I quickly arrive at the finally finished Mikaelson Manor and head into the living room only to hear crashing. "EASY! I JUST FINISHED RENOVATING!" I hear Nik yell. Confused I rush into the room. My eyes widen when I see Nik engaged in a fight with another man.

I gasp when Klaus flips the lid open on a coffin and pulls a dagger out, pinning the other man down. "Don't make me do this to you again Elijah!" He yells. "Do it, then you'll have Kol do deal with." The man, Elijah, snarls. Klaus backs off.

He looks up and his eyes widen when he sees me. "Bel." "Don't act so surprised to see me. You called me remember?" I smirk. The other guy looks shocked to see me. "Annabella?" I shake my head. "I'm Jezebel Gilbert. I take it you're one of Nik's brothers?"

He nods, shaking my hand. "I'm Elijah." "Pleasure." "Mikael is dead." Nik blurts. "What did you say?" Elijah asks, shocked. "I killed him. With his own weapon. He's gone Elijah, forever. " He reveals.

"Why do our family remain in these coffins? Finn for over 900 years, Kol for over a century." "Because of Stefan Salvatore. He holds the one thing keeping me from freeing them. There are things that you do not know about our past Elijah." I bite my lip, smiling.

He's going to come clean. "Our mother's death. Things I never wanted you to know, but I am ready to tell you now." Nik reveals. He walks over to the white oak ash urn. "I only ask that you remember the oat of loyalty that you once swore to me." He says.

"What are you doing?" Elijah asks as Klaus places the dagger back where it came from. "Always and forever. I need you to stand by my side. Be my brother. Help me...destroy Stefan, and I promise you our family will be whole again." With that Nik slams the coffin lid shut.

Elijah turns to me. "And what role does Miss Gilbert play in all of this. I wasn't aware Elena had a sister." "Oh no, Elena's no sister to me." "So there's another Gilbert family?" I shake my head, looking him straight in the eye.

"No, don't think Elena's some precious little saint. She isn't. She destroyed my life. Nik is my best friend who is helping me build myself back up again. I'm here for support." "Friend? Niklaus?" He asks. I smile and nod.

"He's pretty good at it if I do say so myself. Anyways, I'm guessing that the celebration of you getting your family backs postponed. Call me if you need anything." I say. He nods and kisses my temple. "Goodnight love." "Night Nik. Good to meet you Elijah."

"You as well Jezebel." I smile and nod, leaving the manor.

Elijah's POV:

As young Jezebel Gilbert leaves I turn to my brother. "Who is she really to you Niklaus?" I ask him. "What do you mean?" "I haven't ever seen you look at anyone that way since Lydia. Tell me, what is she to you?"

"She's a friend. A loyal one. One that doesn't see the monster I pretend to be. We're both broken people trying to help each other. She deserves the world and has gotten nothing but hate and cruelty." I say. "Why do you say that? Who was so cruel to her?" I ask, curious.

"I want to show you what she has told me they did to her so yo understand my need to protect her. I need your help protecting her." I nod. I may be furious with my brother right now, but one thing is clear. This girl is a bright light in the darkness of his life. She could be his hope.

I won't let him lose that. "Show me."
