Since then, Vincent stopped treating his stepson badly and started bonding with him. Caleb spent most of his time performing good deeds, and now his subjects love him just as much as they love Hugo.

Hugo and Sapphire had been boyfriend and girlfriend for a few months now, and they really loved each other. Caleb sensed that the time had come.

"You really love Sapphire, don't you?" Caleb smiled.

"Very much," Hugo sighed happily. "I think the time has come to propose."

Caleb loved the sound of that. "Oh, how delightful," he gushed. "An occasion like this requires good apparel. I can help you pick out the best suit to wear."

"Thank you," Hugo grinned.

A few days later, Sapphire arrived at the palace in a beautiful dress. She wondered what the occasion was. She met up with Hugo, who was ready to ask her.

"Sapphire, when I was in distress, you were the one who made me very happy," Hugo admitted. "I don't know what I would do without you. I love you with all my heart."

"I love you too," Sapphire smiled.

"I'm glad you feel that way because I have an important question to ask you," Hugo declared.

Hugo took Sapphire's hand and led her to a chair. Sapphire sat down, and Hugo knelt down on one knee. He pulled out a little box, and inside was a three-stone diamond ring. "Sweet Sapphire, will you marry me?" he asked.

Sapphire was surprised by this question, but all she could say was, "Yes! Yes, I will!"

Hugo took Sapphire's left hand and slipped the ring on her finger. It was official—Hugo and Sapphire are getting married.
