Shruti took out her handkerchief and while cleaning her glasses said, "I have suspicion on that Bhimu, he must be the Midnight Killer."

"How so?" Mimi asked, they walked side by side. Mimi's house was just some houses away now.

"That dude's a total freaking psycho, haven't you seen his eyes, the way he looks at us like a an animal looking at it's prey, fucking creepy! We should report him to the police Mimi." Shruti said, putting her glasses back on and looking at Mimi's direction who had a solemn face.

"I don't want to get involved with the police. You know right that if it turns out that he's not the killer then you'll be the next person they'll arrest as a suspect." Mimi said with a serious face and Shruti lowered her eyes with despair.

"I know but—"

"Just two days ago they arrested an old homeless woman as a suspect because she was wandering alone at night." Mimi said looking at her right but to her shock Shruti wasn't next to her, she quickly turned back only to find Shruti standing still, four steps away from her, looking at her right, at an closed children's park that they were passing by, the see-saw had vines grown over it and the swings were broken, there were long grasses in between the park and some hopeless people has lately started using it as a dustbin, filling it up with piles of trash.

"Shruti, what happened?"

Shruti looked over at Mimi and her face was dim like a flower sulking down after not getting enough sunlight.

"You see, Mimi, ever since I have been here, I never saw kids play outside in the evening or any carnival taking place in this town. Even when I went to school everyone looked so sad and terrified all the time. I never got to enjoy my school life since every now and then my classmates and even my teachers would go missing never to be found again. Everything looks so dead here, even the living humans look like dead bodies. I'm tired of living like this."

Mimi sighed looking at Shruti with a tired look and half open eyes, she licks clean the stick of the popsicle she just finished and threw the stick inside the park contributing to the trash hill of the park.

"It has always been here like that, Shruti, for who knows how long, maybe for more than a century, this place has been cursed is all I believe, because I don't think a serial killer could live for more than 100 years otherwise it's a monster or something, or maybe a cult who knows. Illuminati shit, you know." Mimi said shaking her head but Shruti still looked very much in pain, her eyes down and shoulders dropped, Mimi sighs coming towards Shruti and holds her hand dragging her away.

"Literally every week at least one person gets missing, just get used to it already, will ya?"
