Jaden climbed into her car, Aria running behind her.

"Jaden, you know I support you, but please reconsider!" Aria said, brushing her dark hair out of her face.

It was shoulder-length, with a few purple highlights. Her green eyes were shining, as she frantically waved her arms trying to get Jaden's attention.

"Look," Jaden said, putting her sunglasses on so they covered her bright blue eyes. "I know you're against this, Aria-"

"I most certainly am!" Aria interrupted her, laying her hands on the top of the half-open window. "In fact, I highly object! You're only 21-"

"And?"

"They'll never let you on!"

"Aria. It's not that I haven't heard you- the few million times you've said that- but this is what I want to do. And besides, I can just keep my helmet on the whole time. They'll never know I'm a girl until after."

"Problem," Aria took her hands off the window and crossed her arms. "You don't sound like a guy."

Jaden cleared her throat. She didn't speak in her normal soft, but yet assertive voice, instead in a deeper and more guy-ish tone. "How about now?"

Aria's eyes widened as she unfolded her arms. "Well...."

"Any more objections?"

"Yes!" Aria raised her voice. "Altogether, they'll be able to tell! Just look at you! You're a pure girl!"

"Cmon. Many women have pretended to be guys, at some point-"

"..Halloween is different-"

"Not that- oh! I'm going to be late! Bye!" Jaden yelled and drove off, leaving her best friend staring after her.

"Sometimes, I wonder why I even try."
Aria sighed and walked back inside.

Later.....

Jaden pulled up into a parking spot, making sure she has the whole uniform and helmet on.

She then walked up to the stadium, gulping.

"I hope this works," She said and walked in, to find about 10 guys standing there.

"Great," The coach slouched. "Another one. Seriously, there's only like five spots open peoples!"

Jaden hid a laugh under her helmet and walked up to the others.

She saw a few of them talking in groups, while there was one standing by himself, staring at his feet.

She didn't know how welcoming he was, but she took her chance and walked over to him.

"Nervous?" She asked, trying to use her fake guy tone, but making it sound friendly.

"A little," The guy answered in a surprisingly soft tone. "You?"

Jaden fiddled with her fingers for a moment.
"Yeah."

She could tell he was smiling under his helmet.
"I'm Isaac," He stuck out his hand.

"I'm...." She paused for a moment, silently trying to remember whether or not Jaden was a boy name too.
"Jaden," She stuck out her hand too, shaking his.

"Nice to meet ya," He smiled.

"Nice to meet you, too."

"Alright! Everyone listen up!" The coach yelled as soon as everyone else arrived. "I'm looking for the toughest, bravest, and strongest among you all.
Will you cry? I certainly hope not.
Will you fail? I don't think so, or else this was a total waist.
Will you make the team?"

"Yeah!" The others- not including Jaden- yelled.

"Are you going to be tough?" The coach yelled.

"Yeah!!!"

"Are you going to be fast?"

"Yeah!!!!!!!"

"Are you going to poop your pants?"

"Ye- oh..um...no!"

"Are you going to prove yourselves?"

"YEAH!"

"Okay, then. This will take longer then I thought," The coach sighed.

"Is that a bad thing?" Jaden whispered to Isaac, but he shrugged.

"Alright, first things first, we need to separate you. People trying out for defense, here." He gestured to the middle. "People trying our for offense, here." He gestured to the right, Jaden and Isaac going there. "And people trying our for the quarterback, here." He gestured to the left.

"Alrighty," The coach scratched the back if his head, making his brown hair messier then ever.
"First up- offense." He pulled out his clipboard.
"First up, Patterson, Isaac."

"Good luck," Jaden whispered to him.

"Thanks," He said.

"Okay. You'll each take turns running past our defense tryout-ers or whatever, to score a touchdown. Got it?" The coach told them.

Isaac nodded.

"Alright, line up, defense." The coach said, and the defense lined up, occasionally tripping over each other.

Once they were all lined up, the coach handed Isaac the ball.

"Ready, hut-hut!"

Jaden watched in amazement as Isaac swirled around them, jumping over some on the ground, dodging their attempts to stop him, and ran to the end zone.

"Touchdown!" The coach shouted. "Well done, Patterson!"

"Thank you, sir," Isaac said, running back to Jaden and fist-bumping her.

He took his helmet off, revealing his sweaty face, with his ginger hair drooping over his face.

"Next up, erm, can't read this...Hawk...moth? Anyone know a hawk moth?" The coach looked around.

One of the boys walked up and looked at the clipboard. "That doesn't say 'Hawk Moth,' that says, erm....'Gabriel Agreste'....no....."

"Okay! Can anyone read this?" The coach held up the clipboard.

"I can," Jaden walked over to it. "Compared to my dad's handwriting, this is beautiful penmanship. It says Rooney, Austin."

"That's me," Another boy raised his hand.

After Austin and a few others had gone, (and only Austin scored a touchdown) the coach called:
"Next up, Williams, Jaden."

Jaden gulped and didn't even hear Isaac whisper "Good luck."

She took the ball from the coach, and turned to face the defense guys.

She gulped one last time as the coach yelled, "Ready, hut-hut!"

She let out a little squeal as they all cam running at her, and she swirved to the left, dodging person after person.

She got past quite a few of them, thick beads of sweat running down her face as she ran as fast as her legs could take her.

She could almost sense the people behind her; but she kept running, almost feet away from the end zone.

She ignored how tired she was getting, everything seeming to go in slow motion.

Suddenly, she came to an ubrupt stop as her feet landed in the end zone.

She turned around, to find everyone staring at her, shocked.

"What?" She said, then realized.

Her helmet fell off when she landed in the end zone.
