Seth stood a step outside the door.
She stood silently on the hut's cold floor.
Tide waits for none – and it has finally crashed ashore–
"It's time," thought the girl from the mountain hut.

"I must go now. It has been too long a wait.
Meeting and knowing you, Miss, were great."
He looked at her, his gaze soft yet straight–
He spoke to the girl from the mountain hut.

She stood there smiling, without a word.
She knew it was wrong to cage a free bird.
A certain, strange feeling, in her heart, stirred.
Silent, was the girl from the mountain hut.

"Seth, I hope to see you again.
It looks like you're going down the mountain.
Are you from the adjacent town, then?"
Asked the girl from the mountain hut.

Seth nodded. "Yes, my home's there.
I live pretty close to the town square.
It's not from far from here. It's just... There."
He said to the girl from the mountain hut.

"Back at home, my sister is probably buried in books.
My mother must be cooking, and father's keeping ready his hooks.
He'll go out for fishing, in the cold streams and brooks."
He said to the girl from the mountain hut.

"Your family awaits you. Go back home.
As for now, the next time when you roam
And travel, do stop by my home!"
Said the girl from the mountain hut.

"Not for long, so goodbye for now!"
Seth carefully made his way down the steep brow.
She quickly shut the door. Anyhow,
Once again alone, was the girl from the mountain hut.
