             Luka's  POV:

Luka shakes his head as he says, "I am not going anywhere."  He stands there as he refuses to budge from the spot. He can tell his flashbacks are not as frequent as they used to be for him. He has a headache and thinks great why now?

Luka closes his eyes as his flashback begins.

        "  Luka's Flashback..."

Luka is fifteen years old and notices the beach is quieter than usual. He thinks it strange, but before he can say a word, he hears an ear-piercing scream. He turns to see a girl who stands on the shore, and realizes she is the one who yells, "No, he is dead!"

He runs in her direction and takes a closer look at the man face down in the sand. He sees the blood as it oozes from the man's back. He tries to console the distraught girl, but she takes off running.

Luka promises himself he will find a way to help her somehow.  He just does not know how or when.

Fast forward a few years, now Luka is seventeen years old and the girl herself reappears in his life. He looks at her in surprise as she runs past him once more. He thinks it is her.  He does not expect their paths to cross again.

Little does he know how wrong he is to assume anything.  Some things are not as they seem.

    " End of Flashback..."

Luka looks at the blunette in surprise when it dawns on him that today was not the first time he saw her. He knows it to be true, but is not sure he can tell her.  It would seem to strange even if he did say as much.  So, he remains silent after the flashback he just went through.

      Marinette's  POV:

Marinette stares at the boy in amazement. She thought for sure he would have fled by now. Yet, he still stands here and she does not know what to make of it.  It is so awkward for her to say the least. She is not used to anyone getting close to her.  Not sense that fateful day years ago has she had anyone speak to her in person.

She is sure her folks do not count as they gave up on her months ago. She can not say she blames them as her excuses did get rather far-fetched at times.  She knows now it was not the best idea to run away from how, but how else was she to protect everyone?

Marinette feels the next flashback take control despite her best efforts to keep it at bay.  Why does this always happen to her?  Why can not she make it stop?

        " Marinette's  Flashback..."

Marinette is thirteen and a half years old.  She smiles in her room as she feels her cheeks sparkle with excitment. Tomorrow, she turns fourteen years old. She can hardly wait as her folks promised her she can go to the beach for a while that day. She has no idea how much her life will change in just a few hours.

Time skip to the next afternoon, Marinette is done with her gifts. She wears the new shoes her mother gave her along with the dress she made for the occasion, and the cute bracelet given to her by her best friend, Tikki. She tries hard not to cry when she recalls how Tikki told her she was moving in  a few weeks.

Later that evening, she exits the house and makes her way to the beach. She takes a flashlight with her since it is rather late. She smiles to herself glad to be able to enjoy the sand at last.  No sooner does she get there then she goes for a swim.

A few hours later, she sees a boy on the shore and waves to him. She does not know his name, but what does it matter? She  is fourteen now so is no longer the shy girl she once was in the past.  She is about to approach him when she stumbles over a piece of wood. She stands up and brushes the sand off herself. Then, starts toward him once more only she sees something. She walks closer to it thinking it is shell, but shudders.  It is not a shell, but a body.

Marinette flips the man over on his back so she can get a closer look. Then, she sees the blood and screams, "No, he is dead!" She hears the boy approach, but does not care anymore. She is to afraid to stay or listen to anyone. She runs. She does not stop when the young man calls out to her.

She sobs in frustration, anger, guilt, and fear. She does not know who to turn too, or who to trust.

Two years later, Marinette is sixteen it was meant to be one of the happiest days of her life. She was supposed to get up the courage to confess to her crush today.  Only, she could not do it. She chickened out and another girl beat her to it. She thinks perhaps it is just as well because he never could see me the same way ever since I started my daily jogging rountine from when the sun comes out until it goes down at night.

Marinette sobs in frustration out of the pain of a lost love. She thinks it is what I deserve for being a freak, right?

      " End of Flashback..."

Marinette does not think to ask Luka what his flashback was about just now.  If she had done so she would have come to the realization that they were more alike than she first thought.  She has no idea that the flashbacks hold the key to answers about both their past and their future. She does not have any idea that the two are caught up in a mystery.  She focuses to much on her fears to notice anything else.

She gave up Adrien years ago since she is sure he gave up on her.  To bad she was to lame to realize how much he did not need her in his life or that she was to much of a bore for him to care.  She sighs as she hears the young wild hair style boy look at her in surprise.

"Luka, the flashbacks, they are all around us!" Marinette blurts out.

*Author's note: What do you think about clues to Lukanette's past? Do you think it will draw them closer over time or apart? What about the mysteriousness of it all?    It gave you something to think about anyway. No copycats allowed -Summer Cheng
