Thunder is the wolf above. (Enlarged)

Ember curled in a ball. The night air chilled her to her bones. Her fur was only just growing its winter coat. "Mother? Can you here me?" She whispered, wishing she had her brother and parents to comfort her in the chill of the wind.

She sat in the cave, away from the grieving pack. She wondered how the pup named Duck that she had switched places with would feel about the death of her father. She mentally shrugged. It wasn't her worry to worry about, but she felt sympathy and empathy for Adder and Misty. She knew how it felt to lose those you love, even though they were just across an imaginary border.

She perked her head up when she heard a wolf howling. She looked towards the entrance. Every wolf was still laying in place, oblivious to the howling. She pressed her nose into the soft snow-dirt ground. It would be a long night.

Ember awoke with a shiver. She wasn't the only one in the cave anymore. It seemed as every wolf was busy, leaving to hunt or playing around and talking with friends and family about who would become beta. To her, it didn't matter who became beta. It wasn't hard to know she didn't like being in the ForestPack. She never talked to anyone. She only hoped that it would be a kind enough leader to give mercy on her former pack when times were tough.

Ember noticed her tormentor's fur weaving around a group of wolves, consisting of Claw, Wind, Dawn, Cave, and Tree. Ember scowled. She could see them all whispering quietly, heads huddled close and eyes flickering from wolf to wolf.

She shook her head, and walked away when she saw Adder glance at her. She mentally scowled. He was such an annoying furball!

Ember scratched at the ground, trying to make a small dip in the earth and snow for her to get comfy in outside. The sun was just warming, slowly melting snow and ice that entered its rays of light.

Fox and Berry, the peacemakers, also a few of the only wolves that welcomed her as an equal, padded outside the cave, side by side, whispering to each other, then stopping and speaking louder. Ember angled her ears to over hear. "We should tell Alpha, straight away," Berry murmured. Fox nodded in agreement, both of them going towards Alpha Pine who sat with Sky, Sun, and Clover.

"Yes?" Pine asked, looking away from his conversation with the four long growls.

Ember was unable to hear the rest of what had been said, but wasted no time trying to be nosy. She stood up and shook her fur before walking over to the prey pile. She was finally given the right to eat prey whenever she wished, as long as there was enough for everyone else not to starve. She nodded to herself, picking up a dead rabbit. With it half in her jaws, half on the ground she began to drag it when she noticed to pairs of eyes watching her, one made of anger, the other made of sympathy.

She growled. The white she wolf turned frowned at Adder, nudging him forward. Snow was trying to make Adder torment her! But then she thought about it. Adder growled and said something under his breath, no doubt a snarky remark, and turned away, obviously angered. Snow must've been trying to persuade him to be nice, maybe.

She laughed in her mind. Him? Be nice! He can deal with me, its I who can't deal with him!

Ember dragged her rabbit back over to her soft patch of earth. She nestled in, ready to take a bite of her prey.

"Wolves of the LakePack, gather here to be informed!" Alpha Pine let out the call that summoned the pack. He was standing on a tree stump, clearing away snow off of it with the help of Sun.

Ember sat where she was, able to get a glimpse of her new pack leader's orange fur. "Fox and Berry have had a dream, and now the new ForestPack beta has been clarified." Cheers went throughout the pack.

Unexpectedly, a black wolf with daring amber yellow eyes stood up, his lips curled into a growl.

"You're weak! You foolish leader! What kind of leader are you, going off of dreams?" It was Cave. Ember noticed among the other pups, that were only a few tail lengths away from her, Adder was the only one growling.
Mentally, considering she had no one to talk with, she asked herself what his problem was.

This time it was Fox who stood up growling. Ember noticed some of the wolves that seemed close to Cave were standing. The wolves standing were Dawn, Night, Dusk and Claw and Wind, standing beside Cave in a supportive way.

"You're to weak to lead us anymore." Cave snarled. Gasps from all around the group were breaking the threatening silence. Pine growled defensively. "What right do you have to question my authority?" He snarled.

"He's got a point, join us!" Claw growled with a gleam of joy in his eyes. Cave was now smiling, a threatening glare also in his eyes. Frost stood up as well. "What point has he made?" She asked confused, not necessarily saying she was against the rebellion that was appearing, but neither saying she was going to support her rightful leader.

Alpha Pine growled again. "Cave, sit down. Listen to your leader." Sun, sitting near the stump, said with authority most wolves didn't posses.
"Why should I? All he ever does is sit around and tell us what to do." Cave retorted smugly.

The way the pack was reacting to the scene wasn't all to surprising for them. Ember noticed a few wolves thinking about what was happening. Some wolves, like Yowl, Sun, Ash, and Seed, were huddled together murmuring anxiously. Ember noticed the oldest wolves, or long growls, were calmly sitting, as if they were expecting something.

"I wonder what the long growls are going to do," She overheard Misty mumble to Sand and Storm.

Ember hadn't noticed until this point that she was even closer to the group of other pups. "Why didn't Alpha Pine banish him yet?" Thunder asked. "Because he's a long growl, coyote brain." Misty nudged the black tom playfully. Ember watched as Alpha barked and Sun, Dust, Leaf, Sky, Dawn, Flower, Fox and Berry gathered.

After a few long moments of unreassuring ease and tense growls and claws scuffing the ground, Pine barked and the group dispersed. Leaf, Dawn and Flower all sat grudgingly and uncomfortably. All wolves watched the orange leader intently.

"Sun will be the new beta of the ForestPack. No arguments are allowed or suggested, and I will not tolerate it either. Cave, your acts were selfish and innopropriate. I hope we have no future disagreements on my choices or my authority," Alpha barked, and Sun's eyes lit with honor and wisdom.

"Sun, I wish to speak with you." Alpha sweeper his tail and jumped off the stump and walked to a small corner near the cave entrance, shielding their conversation.

"What do you think they're saying?" Ember jumped. She turned around to find Misty looking at her with curious eyes. With a jolt, she saw Adder staring as well, his ears flat from a distance and anger boiling inside. The he wolf turned away and marched into the cave.

"Uh, probably leader stuff," Ember murmured cautiously. "Leader stuff, huh." Misty replied softly. "I'm sorry to hear about Stone," Ember whispered. Misty nodded, her fur glistening in the pale moonlight that was slowly turning into sunlight.

"We were never to close, actually." She turned to her tormentor's sister with grief. "Oh. I see, it was Duck you were close with, wasn't it?"

Misty never replied, but stalked off into the cave. When Ember went to turn back to her meal, it was gone. "Huh?" She asked threateningly, ready to attack any sort of coyote or enemy. "The bugs started getting at it, so I brought you a mouse." Thunder, a black he wolf, said casually, just then appearing in her sight.

Ember noticed a small brown creature at the wolf's paws. He slid it forward. "Thanks," she murmured happily, then began rapidly eating. "See you around." The wolf barked, chasing off over to Oak and Storm. Sand was busy following a scent trail to notice anyone.

Ember quickly finished the mouse and walked into the moonlit cave. Dawn was coming, and she wasn't looking forward to it. A bright sun would show her face to every wolf around, including Adder, and he was as bad as it got.
