I was barely getting home and was starting on homework. I was barely partway through history homework when I let the charade end. "Come on Akeno. I know your there."
"Well. Thank you for pretending you didn't know I was here." She placed a cup of juice next to the now very very small stack of Math, English and History homework.
"Thank you Akeno."
"Your welcome Daniel."
After I finished the homework assignments. Akeno's phone rang.
"Hello. Yes we'll be right there." She hung up. "Stray devil alert. Seems I'll be able to see you in action." She cooed.
"Well let's go." I stood up and put on a chain mail and plate lined trench coat. And followed Akeno through a transport circle. And walked into the front of a park.
"Akeno, Daniel." Rias said. My wristband flashed and the Celtic War Axe appeared in my hand.
"Rias." Me and Akeno replied. "Whatever is in that park is powerful. My War Axe wouldn't have activated otherwise."
"Any suggestions on strategy?" Rias asked.
"First off I need to see what we're dealing with."
"Well since that's your stance on it. Issei, you and Kiba take the right flank. Koneko and Asia take the back and Xenovia you and Akeno will take the left flank. Daniel your with me."
"Understood."
We all took our spots and started entering the park. I kept close to Rias as the stray came into view. I had a bad feeling about it.
"Rias. Hold here. I got a bad feeling about this." I looked to her. "Stay in cover. Say what you need and I'll get a closer look."
"I'm the master of this group."
"True but your not the master of me. You step out of cover with me. You are responsible for anyone that gets hurt. Especially yourself." I started approaching the stray and held my War Axe at the ready.
Rias came out a few feet behind me and before she could say anything the stray attacked me. I buried the War Axe into its back which made it scream in pain. The others started attacking the stray and I regrouped after rolling and picking up the War Axe from the stray next to Rias.
"You are good."
"We're not done yet." I evaluated the creatures patterns and found its weakest points.
"You got a plan don't you?"
"Risky plan yes." I grinned. "Akeno!" She flew down to me and I whispered my plan into her ear. She giggled and smiled. "Ready?"
"Oohhh. I'm getting so hot just thinking about it."
"Let's go." She flew up with me in her arms and when I was high enough. I told Akeno, "I hope I survive this. Drop now." She did and I replaced the War Axe around my wrist and clutched the Claymore pendant and the stray opened up its mouth and I flew into its mouth and everyone was shocked except for Akeno of course. She observed from where she dropped me and started summoning strong lightning bolts waiting for my signal. The stray started groaning and coughing up blood until a sword blade protruded from its stomach. Akeno took that as my signal. And with one well placed and powerful shot of lightning with the point of the sword being used as a lightning rod. The stray shrieked and screamed as it slowly started dying from the united attack of me and Akeno. After a little while, the lightning stopped and the stray fell unconscious and I cut myself free and walked out of the hole I carved in its stomach. "The rest is up to you." I smiled and Akeno flew down and landed next to me.
Rias started saying her speech. After she finished and eliminated the stray. She looked at me.
Akeno held my left arm in her right and left hand. "Wow." Rias started, "You are good."
"Well I would like to think of it as a team effort."
"Your very right. So everyone get some rest and see you all at school tomorrow." We All bid each other farewell for the night. Rias, Issei and the others went one way. Me and Akeno walked through a teleportation circle and were taken directly to my room.
"You did really well against the stray Daniel."
I grinned at her compliment. "Couldn't have done it without the rest of the ORC. But mainly, I couldn't have done it without you, Akeno." I placed my drool and slime covered coat in the hamper and started turning down the covers. After doing so I started changing from my street clothes and into some Batman pj bottoms. I got in bed first and Akeno slid in next to me wearing not a stitch on her. I was too tired to complain or argue the point.
"Good night Daniel."
"Good night Akeno." I yawned as she wrapped an arm around my waist and laid her head on my chest as we fell asleep.

The next morning...
I woke up to be eye to eye with Akeno's chest. I shot upright and looked over at the sleeping Akeno. "She looks so adorable when she's asleep."
I crawled out of bed and leaned down and kissed her cheek gently and she woke up. "Morning Daniel."
"Morning Akeno."
"Sleep well?"
"Well aside from your naked cuddling. Yeah."
"You didn't like it?"
"In time I might but for now no."
"Well at least your honest." She got up and got dressed as did I after she finished tying her hair. After we were ready for school. We headed to school. I carried Akeno's bag along with my own. I reached for my flute and started playing an old three note tune. She grinned as I played. After the school came into view I put the flute away and extended my arm and Akeno took it. To say the rumor mill worked overtime on explanations as why Akeno was with me. That would be a vast understatement.
But I didn't care. The day was pretty normal until I reported to the ORC building after school. Akeno met me at the door.
"Hey Akeno what's going on?"
"Right this way." She led me to the parlor. Where Asia, Issei, Xenovia, Kiba, Koneko and Gasper were seated. I sat near Koneko and Akeno sat on the other side of me. I looked around and everyone was smiling, which made me nervous as all hell. Then Azazel and Rias came into the room and stood at the head of the room.
"Daniel Boyce."Rias smiled.
"Yes ?"
"Please come forward." I stood up and walked up to Rias. "It is with great pleasure that I give you the position of rook."she held a rook piece over my chest and it evaporated into me. After a few seconds black scaled wings appeared from my back.
I smiled as I shook Rias' hand and Azazel's hand. "Welcome to the family Daniel."
Akeno got up and ran into my arms. I was so happy to have an actual family finally. But it was short lived.
