Trenton

The snake opened its massive mouth in preparation to devour me. I yelled at Kathryn both mentally and physically for help and she threw the machete at the snake. It pierced it right in the eye, and it screamed in pain. I left Kathryn’s consciousness and reached out to Dawson’s. I found it, even though he was miles away, and tapped into his energy reserve. I phased right through the snake and continued to run to Kathryn. I yelled at her to throw the knife at the slenderman and she complied. I focused on the knife, and, sure enough, it stuck into slenderman with a sickening thud in the arm. He immediately collapsed and smoke began pouring out of the wound. I shifted my concentration to me and slammed into one of the zombies. It shrieked as we collided into the wall. Kathryn jumped forward towards the other zombie, brandishing two butterfly knives. This zombie started evading her, and occasionally striking back. I turned my attention towards Megan, slipping out of Dawson’s mind and quietly into Kylie’s. I tapped into her energy pool and instantly became more focused. I knew Megan was going to strike first, with a solid punch to the gut. Almost immediately after these thoughts, Megan did that very thing. I sidestepped her and grabbed her arm, pulling it towards the ground. Her head followed, but I kept my knee out. The bottom of her chin connected with my knee with a loud crack as her head jerked backwards. A small white object fell out of her pocket, and I scooped it up and ran towards Kathryn, who had received her knife from the slenderman. Three zombies were lying on the ground, pools of blood spilling on the ground. The slenderman was nowhere to be seen. I left the Kylie’s mind, feeling the energy draining out of me. I staggered and fell to the ground on my hands and knees. I vomited and stood back up. Everything spun around. I leaned against a wall until I felt better. I looked around and found a set of double doors. We ran towards them and shoved them open. Cool night air rushed into the warehouse. We ran out into a forest that surrounded us. We ran and ran until we had stitched in out sides, then ran faster. We finally stopped in a small clearing with a large stump. We sat down on it and rested out weary feet.

"That was a close one," Kathryn says as we sit down.

"Yeah," I begin to say, but go silent. A twig cracked, like someone had stepped on it. Kathryn jumped up brandishing a hunting knife,

"Who's there?” she said cautiously. A shadowy figure steps out into the clearing. The moonlight shines on his face, revealing a boy of about fourteen. He comes towards us with his hands up, showing empty palms. I step forward and dive into his consciousness. He’s caught off guard and staggers to his knees. I review everything about him to prove he’s safe. I receded out of his mind and nodded towards Kathryn to show that he was safe. I didn’t leave completely, but tapped into his energy reserve. I hold my hand up and a tunnel of flames erupted from it. Kathryn and the kid jumped back. It sputtered to a stop stepped back. I set up a telepathic link between us so we could talk to each other without making noise.

“Kathryn. Meet Nathaniel.” I say.

“Is he one of us?” she asks cryptically.

“Yes.”

“Woah, woah, woah,” he says. “One of who?” I explain to him about everything that is transpiring, and explain to him our missions.

“Being in contact with us has made you a target. Stay with us and you will be safe.”

“Sounds good. Well better than dying at least. Now tell me how you did that flame thing.”
