Down on the street, Eric hails a taxi. He gives the driver the directions and we put our stuff in the back, then pile into the car. Finally, we are on our way.

"Why would a bunch of kids want to go to the forest?" the driver asks.

"None of your business," I reply curtly. The driver turns to look at me, shock written across his face.

“How did you hear that?" he whispers, his voice trembling.

"What do you mean? You said it out loud," I say. I look at my friends for help, but they are stunned to.

"He didn't say anything..." Jordan says. I finger the necklace Eric gave me. What is going on?

"What's wrong with her?" Dawson mutters.

"You're a jerk!" I say, then proceed to stare out the window.

"I didn't say anything!" He protests. "This is getting really freaky."

“Serena?" Kylie asks.

"What?" I snap.

"Oh my goodness. You can hear our thoughts!"

"What do you mean?! You said it out loud!"

"I didn't say a word. I thought that." We drive in silence for the rest of the way. When we arrive, the driver throws our stuff and drives away as fast as possible.

“Well, now what?" Eric asks.

"We go in." And with that we enter the forest.
