[IMPORTANT AUTHORS NOTE]

Some of you may know that Rebel Victor and Stay Alive were stolen and put on Fanfic.net. The stories have been dealt with and are no longer problem. But I'm still very upset by this, because that means one of my readers took the story. Because you can't read books on wattpad unless you have an account. So please, I am begging you that if you even read a story that seems a lot like any of my work-- PLEASE TELL ME. And if you are the person who have taken the story, please message me. I'd love to discuss this with you.

Stay classy!

________

Command: Finn Benson (Peacekeeper, D2, Soldier), Jules Haymenn (Capitol Radical, Soldier)

Third Rank: Quinn Maverick (D4, Victor, Face of Squad), Dylan Samuals (D13, Soldier)
Scouts: Jakob Lancaster (D12, Soldier), Penni Holmes (D8, Soldier)
Communications: Taylon Kingston (D3, Soldier)

Quinn scanned her eyes over the list on the screen before her multiple times. Ten people were in the squad, there were nine people that could die if she made the wrong choice. There were nine other people that could make the wrong choice and get her and the other eight killed. Quinn had gotten to the Command room a bit early, but when she had gotten there-- Finn and Jules had been discussing something. Something that Quinn clearly wasn't supposed to hear, at least not yet...because the two of them excused themselves and let Quinn sit and study the list.

She already didn't like the position she had been put in. Not only was she in the last squad she wanted to be a part of, but she was supposed to be the face of the squad? What did that even mean? She felt drained, there was nothing else she could do to be the face of anything...

"You're here a bit early, aren't you?" President Coins' voice filled the command room.

"Yeah," she replied, "I didn't want to be late." she said simply.

Coin nodded a bit as she took a seat next to Quinn. "It doesn't seem real, does it?" she asked, "Finally, we only need to get a grip on District Two and then the rebels are practically unstoppable..."

"It's taken long enough." Quinn retorted, and then let silence fill the room again before letting her curiosity get the best of her. "Why am I on First Response?" she asked, "I'm not necessarily skilled at anything from training..."

Coin let out a long sigh as she sat back in her seat. She crossed her arms and sat still for a moment, examining the list of members that were a part of the squad.

"Put yourself in the position of an orphan in say...District Eleven," she began and Quinn simply stared at her with a confused expression. "I'm serious," she paused, "Imagine having your parents gone, and you live with the other orphans-- and now you know District Twelve is gone. Your district is the lowest anyone can get, you're hungry, can't find work, gave up on school--"

Quinn felt sick to her stomach.

"I know the feeling. You don't need to remind me--"

Coin held up a hand as if to silence her, "But then Quinn Maverick, the first tribute to even think about fighting Snow, she escaped her own district, went out of her way to rescue rebels in Four. She survived being held captive in the Capitol-- she's the embodiment of everything the rebels are doing. Standing up for the people who can't do it for themselves, encouraging people to do the same."

"Madam President--"

Again she motioned for her to stay quiet, "Quinn's gone through so much, she has lost virtually everything, but she's still insisting on being the first to do things if it means fighting back."

Quinn sighed heavily and sat back in her seat, thinking. She put herself back in the old warehouse-- ignoring the fact that it was burned to the ground. She knew that if she hadn't been reaped, and Katniss had still done what she done-- she would have placed Katniss on a pedestal. She would have admired anyone who fought back, and she would have wanted to help-- she would have had hope. But that wasn't how things had gone, somewhere along the way, things went horribly wrong and Quinn had less than no hope left. She couldn't imagine Panem without the Capitol, she couldn't imagine a Capitol without Snow. She just couldn't. The way she saw things, Snow was too strong and the Hunger Games were destined to continue. So how was she supposed to give people encouragement and hope when she didn't have enough for herself.

"Quinn, you do best when you don't know what's coming." Coin said simply, "That's how you've survived so long, you've wanted to hang on just to spite the the Capitol. And that's the type of people I want on this mission. It's the type of people I want to lead into the Capitol when the time comes."

Quinn frowned, she understood why she was on the squad now. She was unpredictable, impulsive, and stubborn-- it didn't show that often anymore, but she was.

"Won't there be less of a...affect when people see that Orion and I aren't on the same squad?" she asked.

Coin shrugged a bit, "That's a possibility. But you had too big of an affect before you met him too," she paused, "You've forgotten why and what you are fighting, Quinn. And I think, being on First Response will remind you. You're squad isn't random, Quinn."

Quinn rose an eyebrow, "What do you mean?"

"Everyone on First Response was impacted by you." she said, "Finn Benson became a Mockingjay Drifter after your first interview, Jules Haymenn was part of Orion's group who got you out of Four," she paused. "You're the reason she's a Commander now. Coleman Ayres, you two grew up together and if it wasn't for the fact that you wanted to help him get out of Four-- he'd probably be dead. Arcturus Thread, another Capitol citizen that understood the cruelty of the Capitol after watching Snows' panic about what to do with you..." she explained, "Marcus Benson, he believed in what you stood for before you did. That's why he helped Orion's group. Dylan Samuals, you have family that you need to fight for. Jakob Lancaster, he volunteered for First Response. Penni Holmes, you helped get her out of the hospital in Eight--"

Quinn sighed, "So what? This squad is...is dangerous." she sighed, "If you want me to help wouldn't it be better for me to be on Star Squad?"

"Number one, I don't trust Orion all that much after everything that's happened. And if you still can't trust him like before and work as a unit-- then why would we want you on the same Squad?" she replied, "Number two, like I said-- you do best when you don't know what's coming."
