Roni's POV:

After walking through various hallways Steve and I finally come upon the Phase 2 room. "I'm not authorized to be in here, but the doors aren't strong. Flimsy metal, which I told them not to use." I say. He nods, understanding what I mean. He grasps the doors and pulls them open. 

Well that didn't take as long as I thought it would. We walk slowly into the room and see that most of the stuff is on the top level. "Mind giving me a hand?" I ask him. He nods and makes a cradle with his hands. 

I put my foot into it and he hoists me up onto the next level before gracefully jumping up as well. "Ok, no need to show off." I mumble and he sends and slight grin at me. He opens a box and his eyes widen. "Roni, come see this." He says. I walk over to him and look in the crate. 

"No friggin' way." I breath. Steve grab the gun out of the box and we set off back towards my lab. When we get close we here Tony talking. "-what is Phase 2?" Steve slams the gun down on a table, alerting the others of our presence. 

"Phase 2 is SH.I.E.L.D. uses the Tesseract to make weapons. Sorry the computer was working to slow." Steve says angrily. "Rogers, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract. That doesn't mean-" "I'm sorry Nick, what were you lying?" Tony asks, confirming what Steve had just said. 

"I was wrong Roni, the world hasn't changed a bit." Steve says. Nat and Thor walk in. "Did you know about this?" Bruce asks Nat. "You want to think about removing yourself from this environment doctor?" Nat asks. "I was in Calcutta, I was pretty well removed." Banner says.

"Loki is manipulating you." Nat says. "And you've been doing...what exactly?" Bruce asks. "You didn't come here because I bat my eyelashes at you." Nat says, getting closer to Bruce with each step she takes. 

"And I'm not leaving because you're getting a little skittish. I want to know why S.H.I.E.L.D. is using the cube to make weapons of mass destruction." Bruce says. "Because of him." Fury says, pointing to Thor. "Me?" 

"Last year earth had a visitor from another planet that had a grudge match that leveled a small town. "We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned." Fury states. "My people want nothing but peace with your planet." Thor says. 

"But you're not the only people out there are you? And you're not the only threat. The world is filling up with people who can't be matched. That can't be controlled." Fury asks. "Like you controlled the cube?" Steve asks. 

"Your work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is a signal to all the realms that earth is ready for a higher form of war." Thor says. "A higher form?" Steve asks. "You forced our hand, we had to come up with something." Fury says. 

"A nuclear deterrent. Cause that always calms everything right down." Tony says. "Remind me again how you made your fortune." Fury says. "I'm sure is Mr. Stark still made weapons he'd be neck dee-" "I'm sorry, how is this now about me?" Tony asks. "I'm sorry, isn't everything?" I ask.

"You really want to do this now Veronica?" He asks. "No, Anthony, I don't." I snap. "I thought humans were more evolved than this." Thor says. "I'm sorry, do we go to your planet and blow things up?" Fury asks. "You treat your champions with such distrust." Thor snaps. 

"You are not my champions." Fury says. "Are you boys that naive? S.H.I.E.L.D. monitors potential threats." Nat says. "Wait, Captain America's on the list?" Bruce asks. "We all are." Nat says. "Wait, you're on that list? Are you above or below angry bees." Tony asks Steve. 

"Give it a rest Tony." I say. "Oh, don't act like you on that list either. Your just a little girl with intelligence, you aren't a soldier, Veronica, you're a desk worker. So stop acting all high and mighty" He says. 

"You have no idea about anything to do with me. I'ma field agent dumb ass. But of course you wouldn't know that. I mean, how long has it been since we've talked, huh? 5 years? I was a baby  when mom and dad died and you weren't there." I scream in the midst of the fighting.

"I haven't considered you my brother in decades." I snarl. He looks shocked. Suddenly we hear Bruce's voice. "That's his MO isn't it? What are we, a team? No, we're a chemical mixture that makes chaos. We're a time bomb." Bruce says. "You need to step away." Fury says. I then see it.

Banner is getting closer and closer to staff. "Why shouldn't the guy let off a little steam?" Tony asks, clapping Steve on the back. "You know damn well why, back off!" Steve snaps, knocking his hand to the side. "I'm starting to want you to make me." Tony says. 

"Big man in a suit of armor, take that off and what are you?" Steve asks. "Genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist." Tony says. "I know guy with none of that worth ten of you. I've seen the footage. The only thing you fight for is yourself." Steve says. Tony looks angry now.

"You're not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lay down on the wire and let the other guy crawl over you." Steve says. "I think I'd just cut the wire." He says. "Always another way out. You know, you may not be a threat, but you better stop pretending to be a hero." Steve says. 

"A hero? Like you? You're laboratory experiment Rogers. Everything special about you came out of a bottle." Tony says. "Put on the suit, let's go a few rounds." Steve says. Thor chuckles. "You people are so petty and tiny." He says. "Yeah, this is a team." Bruce says sarcastically. 

"Agent Romanoff, would you please escort Dr. Banner to-" "Where, you already rented out my room." Bruce says. "The cage was just in case-" "Just in case you needed to kill me. Well you can't because I tried." He snaps. We all look at him in shock and pity.

"I got low, I didn't see an end so I put a bullet in my mound and the other guy spit it back out. So I moved on. I focused on helping other people, I was good. Until you dragged me back into this freak show and put everyone here at risk." He says. I see him grab the staff and hold it tightly. 

"You want to know my secret Agent Romanoff, you wanna know how I stay calm?" He asks. "Bruce, put down the scepter." I say softly. Then a ringing echo throughout the room. "Got it." Tony says. 

"Sorry kids, you don't get to see my party trick after all." Bruce says, putting the scepter down. He walks over to the computer. "You located the Tesseract." Thor states." I could get there faster." Tony says. "The Tesseract belongs on Asgard, no human is a match for it." Thor says. 

"You're not going alone." Steve says. "You gonna stop me?" Tony asks. "Put on the suit, let's find out." Steve says. "I'm not afraid to hit an old man." Tony says. "Put on the suit." Steve snaps. "Oh my God." Bruce says, looking out the window. 

"What is it?" I ask, moving closer to the door, ready to run if need be. Suddenly there was a giant explosion.
