At the desert, (Y/n) is passed out under the hot sun. Several vultures swoop overhead, cawing. They gather around her and begin to feast. Suddenly, Pumbaa charges at the vultures, with Timon riding in his mane. "Yah!" Timon and Pumbaa shoo the vultures away. "Get out! Get out! Get out of here!" Timon shouted. "I love this!" Pumbaa shouted. "Whoo!" Timon shouted. "Bowling for buzzards." Pumbaa said. "Hee, hee, hee." Timon dusts himself off. "Gets 'em every time." He laughs. "Uh-oh." Timon glances back at Pumbaa. "Hey, Timon, you better come look. I think it's still alive." Pumbaa said. Pumbaa said. "Ewww." Timon said with a disgusted look. Timon approaches, dusting off his hands. "All righty, what have we got here?" Timon sniffs (Y/n). He lifts her paw off her face with a grunt. Timon darts away in terror.

"Jeez, it's a lion!" Timon jumps into Pumbaa's mane and pulls his ears as if they're reins. "Run, Pumbaa! Move it!" He said. "Hey, Timon, it's just a little lion." Pumbaa ducks down to (Y/n)'s level. "Look at her. She's so cute and all alone." Pumbaa looks over one shoulder at Timon. "Can we keep her?" He asked. "Pumbaa," Timon tugs on one of Pumbaa's ears and shouts into it, creating an echo effect. "Are you nuts?" Timon darts onto Pumbaa's head and grabs his ears. "You're talking about a lion." Timon crawls onto Pumbaa's snout. "Lions eat guys like us." He said. Pumbaa bows his head, causing Timon to fall to the ground. "But she's so little." From the ground, Timon wags a finger at Pumbaa. "But she's gonna get bigger." "Maybe she'll be on our side." Pumbaa said. "Ha!" Timon stands. "That's the stupidest thing I ever heard." Timon dusts himself off. "Maybe she'll be..." Timon pulls up short and holds up a finger as he has a sudden realization.

"Hey, I've got it. What if she's on our side?" Timon gestures dramatically. He puts a pensive finger to his chin. "You know, having a lion around." Timon grasps onto Pumbaa's nostrils. "Might not be such a bad idea." "So we're keeping her?" Pumbaa asked. "Pfft! Of course. Who's the brains of this outfit?" Timon asked. Pumbaa lifts (Y/n) in his tusks."Uhhh..." he said. "My point exactly." Timon wipes his forehead. "Geez, I'm fried. Let's get out of here and find some shade." Pumbaa waddles off, with Timon in his mane and (Y/n) in his tusks. Later, (Y/n) lies beside a jungle pool, with Timon and Pumbaa nearby. Timon splashes water into her face, and she wakes up groggily and groans. "You okay, kid?" Timon asked. "I guess so." (Y/n) said. "You nearly died." Pumbaa said. Timon gestures to himself. "I saved you." Pumbaa turns on Timon angrily and snorts. "Well, uh, Pumbaa helped." Pumbaa beams. "A little." Timon added. "Thanks for your help." (Y/n) said as she began to walk away. "Hey, where you going?" Timon asked. "Nowhere." Timon watches (Y/n) walk away. "Gee, she looks blue." Timon said. "I'd say (F/c)." Pumbaa said. "No, no, no. I mean she's depressed." Timon said. "Oh." Pumbaa said.

Timon and Pumbaa stride after (Y/n). "Kid, what's eatin' you?" Pumbaa asked. "Nothing." (Y/n) halts and sits down. "She's at the top of the food chain." Timon starts laughing. Timon elbows (Y/n), who is unresponsive. "The food chain." Pumbaa looks on sadly. "Heh, heh. Ahem. So, where you from?" Timon asked. (Y/n) stands up and walks away. "Who cares? I can't go back." She said. Timon bounds in front of her. "Ah, you're an outcast. That's great. So are we." He said. Pumbaa sidles up next to Timon. "What'd you do, kid?" Pumbaa asked. (Y/n) sits down. "Something terrible. But I don't want to talk about it." She said.

Timon crosses his arms. "Good. We don't want to hear about it." He said. "Come on, Timon. Anything we can do?" Pumbaa asked. "Not unless you can change the past." (Y/n) said. "You know, kid, in times like this, my buddy Timon" Pumbaa nudges Timon. "Here says, "You gotta put your behind in your past." He said. (Y/n) looks at him with confusion and Timon waves his arms. "No, no, no." Pumbaa puts a hoof to his chin in confusion. "Uh... I mean..." he said. "Amateur. Lie down before you hurt yourself." Pumbaa slumps sadly. "It's "You gotta put your past behind ya." Look, kid, bad things happen, and you can't do anything about it, right?" Timon asked. "Right." (Y/n) said. Timon pokes her on the nose. "Wrong!" Timon gestures dramatically. "When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world!"

"Well, that's not what I was taught." (Y/n) said. "Then maybe you need a new lesson. Repeat after me. Ahem. "Hakuna matata." Timon said. "What?" (Y/n) asked. ""Hakuna matata." It means "no worries." Pumbaa said cheerfully. "Hakuna matata. What a wonderful phrase." Timon sung. "Hakuna matata. Ain't no passing craze!" Timon dances past (Y/n). Pumbaa struts past as well. "It means no worries." (Y/n) follows hesitantly. "For the rest of your days." Timon sung. Timon sits (Y/n) in a bush, while Pumbaa fans her with a leaf. "It's our problem-free" Timon sands down one of (Y/n)'s claws with a piece of tree bark. "Philosophy." Timon tosses the tree bark away. "Hakuna matata!" Timon sung. "Hakuna matata?" (Y/n) asked.

"Yeah. It's our motto." Pumbaa said. "What's a motto?" (Y/n) asked. Timon pops up at her side. "Nothin'. What's-a-motto with you?" Timon laughs and so does Pumbaa. "You know, kid, these two words will solve all your problems!" He said. Timon gestures at Pumbaa. "That's right. Take Pumbaa for example." Timon said, and Pumbaa beams. "Why... When he was a young warthog..."" Timon sung. Pumbaa stands in a spotlight. "When I was a young warthog..." Pumbaa lifts an arm into the air. Timon cleans out one ear. "Very nice." He said. "Thanks." Pumbaa grins, not picking up on the sarcasm. A flashback starts. Pumbaa's tail bobs through grass as he heads toward a water hole in the distance, around which many animals are gathered. "He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal." Pumbaa struts between trees. Behind him, monkeys fall to the ground, holding their noses. "He could clear the savanna after every meal." Timon sung.

Pumbaa approaches the water hole and bends to drink. "I'm a sensitive soul, though I seem thick-skinned." Pumbaa breaks wind. Behind him, the grass wilts and buzzing flies drop to the ground. "And it hurt" The animals around the water hole sniff the air. "That my friends never stood downwind." The animals flee. The flashback ends. "And oh, the shame!" Pumbaa said. "He was ashamed!" Timon sung from on top of (Y/n)'s head. Pumbaa walks into a spotlight. "Thought of changing my name!" Pumbaa sung. "Oh, what's in a name?" Timon asked. "And I got downhearted... " Pumbaa sung. Timon gets on his knees, with (Y/n) watching worriedly. "How did you feel?" Timon asked.

"Every time that I..." Timon hastily covers Pumbaa's mouth. "Pumbaa! Not in front of the readers." Timon said. Pumbaa grins sheepishly. "Oh, sorry." (Y/n) tilts her head in confusion. Timon pulls on a vine, lifting Pumbaa into the air on a swing. "Hakuna matata! What a wonderful phrase." (Y/n) watches Pumbaa ascend, smiling. Pumbaa swoops down and picks up Timon. "Hakuna matata!" Timon and Pumbaa swing back and forth in front of (Y/n). She gets up and shakes her rump to the rhythm. "Ain't no passing craze!" A spotlight shines down on (Y/n). "It means no worries." (Y/n) struts around. "For the rest of your days." Timon skids on his knees toward her. "Yeah, sing it, kid." Timon climbs onto (Y/n)'s head. "It's our problem-free..." (Y/n) and Timon sung. Pumbaa lands next to (Y/n) and Timon, with a spotlight shining on him. "Philosophy!" (Y/n), Timon, and Pumbaa lean against one another.

"Hakuna matata!" The trio sung together. Timon lifts a leaf, allowing (Y/n) a view of his and Pumbaa's lush jungle home. (Y/n) stares in awe. "Welcome to our humble home." Timon said. "You live here?" (Y/n) asked. "We live wherever we want." Timon said. Pumbaa leans in front of (Y/n), blocking her view. "Yep! Home is where your rump rests. Heh." He said. "It's beautiful!" (Y/n) said in awe. Later, the trio are striding side-by-side through the jungle. Pumbaa belches. "I'm starved!" He said. "I'm so hungry, I could eat a whole zebra." (Y/n) said. Timon stops in his tracks and laughs nervously. "Ah. We're fresh out of zebra." He said.

"Any antelope?" (Y/n) asked. Timon shakes his head. "Nuh-uh." Timon said. "Hippo?" (Y/n) asked with concern. Timon shakes his head. "Nope." Timon approaches her. "Listen, kid, if you live with us," Timon gestures to himself. "You have to eat like us." Timon strides away. He approaches a moss-covered log. "Hey, this looks like a good spot to rustle up some grub." Timon points at the log. Pumbaa lifts the trunk with his snout, revealing grubs. "Ewww, what's that?" (Y/n) asked. Timon holds up a wriggling worm. "A grub. What's it look like?" Timon asked. "Ewww. Gross!" (Y/n) said with a disgusted look. Timon licks his fingers. The grub is gone. "Mmm. Tastes like chicken." Pumbaa slurps a worm out of the ground and (Y/n) recoils. "Slimy yet satisfying." Pumbaa said.

Timon grabs a beetle off a dirt mound. "These are rare delicacies. Mmm." Timon takes a bite out of the beetle. "Piquant, with a very pleasant crunch." Timon said. Timon eats the rest of the beetle. "You'll learn to love 'em!" Pumbaa said with his mouth full. Timon strides alongside the log, holding a leaf full of grubs. He grabs a beetle and adds it to the pile. "I'm telling you, kid, this is the great life." Timon sticks his hand in a hole in the log. Grubs pour out of the opening. "No rules. No responsibilities." Timon hefts a beetle. "Ooh! The little cream-filled kind." Timon eats the beetle. He approaches (Y/n), still holding the leaf. "And best of all, no worries." Timon lifts the leaf into (Y/n)'s face. "Well, kid?" He asked. She hesitantly selects a worm. "Oh, well. Hakuna matata." (Y/n) swallows the worm with some difficulty. She smacks her jaws in disgust. "Slimy... " (Y/n)'s expression changes to joy. "Yet satisfying." She said.

"That's it." Timon said. (Y/n), Timon, and Pumbaa are later striding across a log. First, (Y/n) is a cub. Then she grows into a teenager. Finally, she becomes an adult. "Hakuna matata. Hakuna matata. Hakuna matata. Hakuna..." "It means no worries." (Y/n) strides toward Timon and Pumbaa. Timon climbs onto (Y/n)'s head. "For the rest of your days." She sung. (Y/n), Timon, and Pumbaa lean against one another. "It's our problem-free philosophy!" Timon jumps off a branch into a pool below. "Hakuna matata" Timon makes a tiny splash. "Hakuna matata. Hakuna matata." Pumbaa jumps off the branch into the pool. "Hakuna matata." Pumbaa makes a tiny splash. "Hakuna matata. Hakuna matata." (Y/n) swings on a vine. It breaks, and she falls into the pool. "Hakuna matata." (Y/n) makes a giant splash, which washes Timon and Pumbaa ashore. "Hakuna matata." (Y/n) trides out of the pool, soaking wet. "Hakuna matata." (Y/n) shakes her wet fur. "Hakuna matata." (Y/n), Timon, and Pumbaa stride off into the jungle. "Oooh!" "Hakuna matata. Hakuna matata" Timon sung. "Yeah." (Y/n) sung. "Matata. Matata. Ha, ha, ha!"

Back at the Pride Lands, The savanna is barren and gray, and hyenas lounge below Pride Rock. "Nobody knows." Zazu stands in a bone cage, while Scar lounges on her throne, picking her teeth with a bone. "The trouble I've seen. Nobody knows my sorrow." "Oh, Zazu, do lighten up." Scar tosses the bone at Zazu. It hits the cage and bounces off. "Sing something with a little...bounce in it." She said. Zazu glares at her but then pulls a small smirk. "It's a small world after all... " he began. Scar sits up abruptly. "No! No! Anything but that..." she rolls her eyes. "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts. Deedle dee dee. There they are a-standing in a row." Zazu sung and Scar dances along. "Bum, bum, bum, bum." Scar picks up a skull and uses her claws to make its jaw move. "Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head!" They both sung. "Oh, I would never have had to do this for (M/n)." Zazu said. Scar lunges at Zazu, causing him to back away. "What?! What did you say?" She asked.

"Oh, nothing!" Zazu said. "You know the law." Zazu covers his beak with his wings. "Never, ever mention that name in my presence." Scar sticks her muzzle through the bars of the cage. "I am the queen!" She growled. Zazu is thrown backward by Scar's muzzle. "Yes, ma'am, you are the queen. I...I... Well, I only mentioned it to illustrate" Zazu stands. "The differences in your royal managerial approaches." He laughs nervously. "Hey, boss!" Banzai shouted. "Oh, what is it this time?" Scar asked. She strides away from the cage. Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed enter Pride Rock. "We got a bone to pick with you." Banzai said. "I'll handle this." ShenzI said. "Scar, there's no food, no water..." she rolls her eyes.

"Yeah. It's dinnertime, and we ain't got no stinkin' entrées!" Banzai said. "It's the lionesses' job to do the hunting..." she said. "And? You're a lioness aren't you?" Shenzi snapped. Scar quickly turns to glare at her. "And the others won't go hunt." Banzai added. "Oh," Scar gestures at Zazu. "Eat Zazu." She said. Zazu waves his wings dramatically. "Oh, you wouldn't want me. I'd be so tough and gamey and ewww." Scar chuckles. "Oh, Zazu, don't be ridiculous. All you need is a little garlic." She said. "I thought things were bad under (M/n)." Banzai mumbled. Scar jerks around. "What did you say?!" She snarled. "I said, "(M"..." Shenzi nudges Banzai. "I said, uh, "Qué pasa?" He asked. Banzai and Shenzi grin innocently. "Good. Now get out." Scar said. Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed shuffle past Scar. They pause in the entryway of Pride Rock and look back at Scar. "Yeah, but we're still hungry." "Out!" Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed flee.
