The trio stood at the steps of the Notre Dame, their weapons in their hands. They had followed the moth as far as they could before a feather escaped the bracelet Marinette had given Adrien, and it disappeared. He had worn the bracelet ever since she had given it to him, especially after he made her one too. "Ugh... we have to go in." They'd been waiting almost an hour to be stopped at the entrance, but there was nothing hindering their ability to enter the cathedral.

"Yeah." Alya nodded at Chloe, the summoned both her and Adrien. If anyone were out on the street, they would see Rena Rouge leading Queen Bee and a male Ladybug into the grand doors of the Norte Dame. The door creaked with the wither of age, and the sound echoed throughout the entire cathedral. Alya's eyes glowed yellow in the dimly lit interior, which made Adrien and Chloe anxious for the upcoming battle. The building hid many secrets, and many strange sounds were omitted from every corner and crevice. "Adrien... Where do we go from here? Adrien scanned the area, taking careful looks at everything he could see.

"I-I think it's somewhere... over there?" he pointed at one of the many staircases leading downwards. It was a good place to start. "Come on." Adrien led from that point, jogging everywhere in anticipation. The stairwell was slightly musty, despite the great condition the main building was. Everything seemed unnatural: the stuffy air, the decay, and the demonic feel of the church. The staircase led them to two or three levels below the main. "It's too light here... maybe there's another staircase?" They searched around the floor they had come out on, but only found more staircases upwards.

"Adrien, maybe you don't remember? It's okay if you don't." Chloe said placing her hand on his shoulder. He grunted in frustration.

"No, no, no! I-I remember. Just... hold on." he ran back up the staircase that they had come from, but who knows for sure if it really was? Alya and Chloe followed, their miraculous omitting a slight glow to aid in their search. They arrived just in time to see Adrien trip over the legs of a candelabra.

"Adrien!" They ran to him, hitting the floor with their padded soles with no sound whatsoever. He held his hand up at the very last second, a sign of his consciousness. Alya and Chloe put their arms under his armpits and lifted, bringing him off the floor. He groaned, and attempted to separate himself from their arms. "Are you okay?"

"I-I'm fine. I just need..." he trailed off, leaving something to be desired from the conversation. Adrien stood straight up, shrugging them off as he gradually got better at standing. Suddenly, he started walking to the left, leaving the candelabra on the floor behind him.

"Um... Adrien?" Alya was worried to say the least. What was he doing? "Adrien!" Alya and Chloe ran up to him, grasping his shoulders like they had before. He only shushed them and continued walking. "Adrien, what are you doing?" Alya whispered. Adrien said nothing. He only pulled out his yoyo and turned on the screen. There was lighter in the room now, but Alya was not affected. Her foxlike tendencies from the miraculous provided her with the ability to see in low light. Adrien's head perked up, almost hitting Chloe in the face.

"I know where we are."

"What?"

"I-I know where we are! Follow me!" Adrien ran down a corridor with a large staircase at the end. Instead of going to the large staircase like Alya had expected, he went to a torch on the wall, twisting it to reveal a secret passage.

"Wow." Chloe said. "This is the kind of thing out of movies..."

"Well, so are super heroes." Adrien said as he slipped into the passage. It was a comfortable humidity, but the noises were terrible. They were quiet as first, but as they neared the end of the passge, they arrived at a small staircase. The sounds of screams, laughs, and crying echoed throughout the passge, bouncing off the stone walls like a trampoline. Adrien shivered.

"It'll be okay Adrien. We'll get them out, and we'll keep them out." Chloe said with certainty.

"W-what if they take me again? I-I know it sounds selfish, but I'm not even worried for them anymore. I'm worried for myself." Alya was surprised. She had never known Adrien to be like this.

"Ladybeetle, Chat Noir, Adrien, whatever you want to be called right now, you won't be taken. It's normal to think of yourself, but you don't need to. You've got the best protection known to man, and you are strong enough this time to stand up to your father." Adrien sighed, then nodded. They began their descent down the stairs, the sounds becoming louder with every step downward. Adrien tried not to, but he began crying as they stepped off the last step. He was scared. There were sounds of footsteps, and laughs following that. Then they stopped. Everything was quiet. Until it wasn't. Adrien closed his eyes to try and cut off his tears, when he heard a whisper right behind his ear.

"My sweet baby boy. Come to mama." The voice of Emilie Agreste was as quiet but as powerful as a hunting snow leopard. Chloe heard as well, and tears formed in her eyes. Alya heard it, but remained as stiff as a board. She had never heard the voice of Adrien's mother, but she could infer from the words and the reaction that it was indeed, Emilie Agreste's voice. "It's okay. I'm sorry."

"N-no you're not! You left Adrien all alone with Gabriel, and we don't even know if you left, or if you're dead!" Chloe shouted at nothing. Nothing. There was no response from Emilie, and the trio was left in shadow again.

"Alya, please... h-help me."

"N-Nino!? Nino! Where are you, I'm coming!" She looked around, but could see him nowhere. "Nino!" Alya was trying to think of where his voice could be coming from, but another edged through the dark.

"Chloe, if you don't get me out of here right now, I'm leaving for good." Audrey Bourgeois. Chloe yelled and ran in the direction of the voice, right through the dark doorway in front of them. Adrien and Alya looked right at each other and nodded, running after her. Voices surrounded them as they ran through the catacombs, going down more stairs and deeper into the labyrinth of secret passages and years of death.

"Chloe!" since the padding on their feet prevented sound, they only heard the sound of their own shouts. It didn't take long for Adrien to get out of breath. "Zch... ow." He gripped his ears in pain from his still fresh piercings. "Rena." Alya turned around to see Ladybeetle bent over gripping his ears. It was silent as she walked back to him, and right as she was about to say something, they heard whimpering in a room beside them. Their breath hitched, and they slowly walked into the room.

In front of them, there was Chloe on the ground, and a figure above her. The figure's hair was greasy and long, hanging in their face like a curtain. It was a dark color, and almost impossible to tell for sure, except for the blue-ish highlight where the light of Adrien's yo-yo shone. The figure was female, and skinnier than Alya had ever been. She wore a skin-tight jumpsuit that was in strips of different materials. One section was teal with white dots, one was black with flowers and one was pink with patterns all over. There was a half-mask on the girl's face, which was teal with two and a half white dots on it. The girl looked up from Chloe, and to Alya and Adrien's horror, they knew who this was. But this wasn't her. This wasn't the bubbly, kind girl they knew. This wasn't Marinette.
