(Ash's POV)

Last night was horrible. I literally only got three hours sleep. The scene of Serena running away crying just kept on replaying in my head. I hate seeing her like that but I just can't have another heartbreak. I just can't.

The sound of a knock echoed in my room. I walked over to the door, hoping that it isn't Serena. I opened the door to see Clemont and Bonnie holding their bags.

"Are you ready?" He asked while pushing up his glasses.
"Yup, all set." I responded with a little sigh.
"Oh do you know what happened to Serena? She hasn't come out of her room yet." Bonnie asked me with a worried expression on her face.

"N-no, maybe she's still asleep. Why don't you go check on her?" I lied. I knew that Serena was mad at me and I get that so I was just giving her some space.

Bonnie skipped over to Serena's room and knocked three times. No answer. She knocked again but still no answer. Clemont and I exchanged a worried glance at each other as Bonnie opened the door and walked in. About a minute later she came back out, with no sign of Serena.

"She's gone."

(Serena's POV)

"Gosh I'm such an idiot." I mumbled to myself as I threw a small rock in the lake, it sinking deeper and deeper into the water.

"Sylveon!" She protested, trying to tell me that I'm not an idiot.

"No but I am! I thought he liked me, but I was wrong. It was all just a stupid mistake." I told Sylveon, while sitting down on a bench. She put her chin on my hand and looked up at me with her light blue eyes. I gave her a weak little smile as she wrapped her ribbons around my arm.

"Serena!! There you are!!!"

I turned around and saw Bonnie running towards me, her side ponytail bouncing up and down as she got closer to me. Clemont and Ash were running behind her trying to catch up.

"We've looked everywhere for you!Serena what are you doing here?" She asked, panting a little bit.
"Oh I was just getting some fresh air." I told them, trying not to make eye contact.

"Serena is something wrong?" Clemont questioned.
"No no I'm fine, I'm doing great. Are we leaving already? Yes? Alright let's go." I quickly said, not waiting for their response as I got up and walked to the front of the Pokémon Center.

(Ash's POV)

"You take care Ash and promise me you'll be a Pokémon Master." Clemont told me as we shook hands, saying our fair wells.

"You bet! And promise me you'll continue creating amazing inventions."
"You can count on it!" He said with a huge grin on his face.

"Bonnie promise me you'll take care of Dedenne no matter what." I heard Serena tell Bonnie. Bonnie let out a little sniffle and gave her a big hug. "I'll miss you so much, Serena." She managed to say.

"Serena I'll miss you too." I looked deep into her eyes, trying with all my will not to look away. But once she made eye contact with me, she looked away.
"Yeah, me too." Serena told me but not even bothering to look at me.

It wasn't long before we gave our final hugs and headed our own ways.
Bonnie and Clemont going to his gym back in Lumiose City, Serena going home in Vaniville Town and me going home back at Kanto.

After riding a long plane ride, Pikachu and I finally got to our awaiting house in Pallet Town.
"Ash you're home!!!" My mom gave me a big hug while messing with my hair. She then gave Pikachu a hug which he was trying his best not to electrify her.

I looked around the house. Everything was just like how it was before I left. But I got a feeling that something was different. Like if I had forgotten something.

"Ash are you hungry?" My mom asked me, interrupting my thoughts.
"Yeah let's eat."

We sat across each other at the table with Pikachu sitting on the side.
"So how'd the journey go? Tell me everything!" My mom excitedly said.
"It was great! I traveled with some new friends named Serena, Clemont and his little sister Bonnie." I stopped myself with a frown.

"Ash is everything okay?"
"I don't know. I just get this weird feeling that I'm forgetting something but I know I have all of my things."
She looked at me with a smirk on her face.

"Ash, did you happen to meet a girl that you began to like?" She asked very casually. I could feel my face get hot of embarrassment. My mom's smirk grew wider.
"If you like her that much go back to her! Don't let her go." She got up from the table and walked over to the kitchen with our plates.

She's right. I was so hurt from the past that I didn't want to be the one who gets heartbroken. But now I realize that Serena was the one who got heartbroken. She's the one who helped me the most even if I didn't need it.

I got up from my seat and ran to my mom in the kitchen.

"Mom take care of Pikachu. I'm going back to Kalos."
