Normal POV

Green Hill (continued from last chapter)

Aura was about to lose his grip and fall to his doom while everyone else was distracted.

The blue wolf thinks. 'So this is it? This is how I go down? Falling to my death while my friends are helpless to save me...'

The ledge starts to crumble to pieces, his hand barely gripping onto the surface.

Suddenly, Blaze felt something wasn't right, like there was something urging her to drop the fight she had with Shadow.

She then realized her anger had distracted her from the real problem: Aura's safety.

Blaze calls over at Sonic, who had just recovered from Shadow's attack. "Sonic! Keep Shadow busy! I'm going for the real win!"

Sonic nods and throws a long punch at Shadow to get his attention. "Hey fancy pants! Why don't you fight a real challenge?"

Shadow glares at the Werehog and dashes at Sonic, attempting to knock him out for good.

Sonic just swings out of the way and kicks Shadow in the face, landing on the dark lord.

Blaze took the opening and ran towards the ledge, worried for her friend's well-being and hoped she wasn't too late for him.

The tip of the cliff collapsed, causing Aura to fall off and start his descent to the ground below.

Blaze jumped off the ledge after him, closing the distance between herself and Aura.

She reaches a hand out to him. "Grab my hand! Please...trust me!"

Aura hesitated at first, but took the shadow cat's hand, somehow touching it despite being a shadow.

Blaze extends whatever was left of the wrappings she had on over to a small branch, latching on and stopping them from hitting the bottom.

They hit the cliff side together and slowed down their swinging in order to stop and catch their breath.

Blaze looks at him. "I am sorry I kept myself from you.... I thought you would fear the real me."

Aura looks back at the void in front of him. "I understand....though I'm not afraid of you entirely. But I want to know more about you now that I know what you are.....and also what I have to do with you."

What felt like a smile beneath all that darkness came on her face. "Of course. I am done keeping you from the secrets."

Meanwhile on the surface, the tables had turned on Shadow as Sonic and the other Were creatures outnumbered and outmaneuvered Shadow's swift attacks.

Shadow crosses his arms at their annoying attempts to destroy him. "I will not need that pitiful pet of yours. Keep him! That wolf will do no good to defeat me. Next time we meet Sonic.... I will have the edge over you. Then all will acknowledge me as the Ultimate Lifeform!"

The vampire lord disappears from sight in a swarm of bats, fleeing into the night sky.

Silver had already given up at that point, trudging away while knowing he couldn't get Aura onto his side.

Sonic was worn out, but still had enough strength to stretch a hand down to help pull Blaze and Aura to the surface again.

Blaze looks at Sonic. "Thank you Sonic."

Sonic gives a clawed thumbs up. "No problem Blaze."

Fury fires a holy cross at Blaze, but Aura gets in front of it and gets impaled on the shoulder.

The green wolf calls out. "What are you doing?! They're going to make you their slave!"

Aura looks at the hunters. "No...they are my friends. Even the vampire rabbits."

Knuckles was practically ready to tear the monsters apart. "Are you insane?! You'd risk darkness ruling the world...just to be with your "friends"?! The same ones who lied to you about their past?!"

Aura glares at Knuckles and Fury. "They earned my trust overtime with effort....which they may have to gain again, but I'm sure they have all eternity to fix that. You two, on the other hand, may have gotten me away from them...but you lost my trust when you showed how far you'll go to harm my friends."

The blue wolf then pulls out his bo staff. "You may be able to take on hoards of monsters, but I doubt you can take on one who's had years of ninjutsu under their belt."

Fury glares back at the ninja. "You rather side with them than the rest of the world?"

Aura nods. "I'd rather become a monster with them....then become one of you."

Fury growls through his gas mask. "This isn't over. Whenever I see you again Aura.....I'll have a tombstone ready for you."

Fury and Knuckles get onto a military Jeep that sped near them, the ride taking them into the distance.

Aura pulls out the metal in his shoulder painfully, the damage hard to resist.

Amy came up to him. "Did you really mean it? You want to become a monster?"

Aura looks at Amy and smiles. "Yes. Even when I didn't know what you were, all of you kept doing anything to have me know you for your personalities."

Tails tells him. "If you become one of us, there is no afterlife for you until someone kills you. You'll be immortal....forever. Even Hell won't accept you."

Aura puts a hand on Tails' shoulder. "I'll gladly trade mortality for immortality if I get to be around you and my friends. Besides.....Hell already betrayed me when they let Lord Rai free."

Cream runs over and hugs Aura, overjoyed he would spend eternity with them. "Mr Aura! I can't wait for you to be with us when I grow up!"

Aura smiles and pets Cream's head. "I bet you will grow up to be just as beautiful as your mother."

Sonic walks over and asks him. "So what monster will you become?"

Aura thinks about it for a while, a hand to his chin as thoughts rang out in his head.

Should he join Sonic as a Werewolf?

Should he give Cream the honor being the first one to change into a vampire?

Even being Tails or Rouge's servant sounded interesting at this point.

But then he looks over at the last one he hasn't thought about and then gained his conclusion.

Aura tells them. "I'll pick Blaze."

Sally asks with curiosity. "You wish to become a mummy?"

Aura nods in response to the question. "Yes. Not just that, but also a shadow like Blaze too."

From what the wolf could tell, Blaze's face looked filled with excitement at his answer underneath all that pitch black mess.

Aura then asks him. "Could any of you explain what my mark is about though? It's been on me ever since I was born under the purple moon."

Blaze took a closer look at it and smiles upon telling him. "I know. I will explain it to you back at the palace while we work on your ceremony."

Aura nods and looks at the rest of them. "I will see you later once Blaze is done with me."

The gang waves bye to him as the pair left for their next destination.

Normal POV

Blaze's palace (Catacombs)

Aura walks with Blaze down the halls filled with the corpses of numerous people of different backgrounds, including specially marked coffins holding kings and queens.

He asks her as they near their destination. "So what is my mark from?"

Blaze tells him with pure honesty. "Years ago, my mother passed away from the gods deciding her time had come to reach the afterlife. But they decided that our kingdom needed a new immortal couple to rule for the rest of reality. So they requested of me to cast a spell that would find the perfect mate for me that would make our rule powerful."

Aura asks her with certainty. "And that spell picked me?"

Blaze nods and gets closer to him. "Yes. You are my long lost soulmate and the destined king of this kingdom....as well as king of the world."

Aura looks down at the ground, realizing the weight of what he was going to be given.

Billions of people will rely on him to protect them and have his compassion, something bigger than he expected.

Aura asks. "What do you mean by king of the world?"

Blaze tells another history story. "My kingdom used to engulf most of the world, until what we call Eggmanland today spawned out Shadow, the king of vampires. If we can claim our control over the true evil.....all nations will gladly let us rule over them."

Aura thinks on this past that was revealed to him.

If Shadow and other versions of evil are out there, he needed to get stronger and stronger until the world can be free...for good this time.

Blaze adds for him on what the goal is. "The light AND the dark need to come together if we want the heartless to be destroyed. You are also the darkness's chosen one....while a chosen one of the light will come to help us."

Aura nods in agreement. "That's true. We need the night in order for the day to have purpose."

The two arrived at a massive chamber filled with candles and some booths to hold tons of people.

Aside from them, the room had the booths filled with people in special garments and some wearing hoods to conceal their faces.

These robed people must be some of her citizens....or maybe it was an entire cult that was meant to worship whatever gods watch over them.

A man dressed in the finest outfit bows to Blaze while shielding his face. "Your highness, none of us are worthy to gaze at your true form. How shall we commence the ceremony if you are not hiding your darker self?"

Blaze tells the priest. "I will have the wrappings on again soon. You and your followers may as well enjoy this moment while you can, because no one else in history will see me like this ever again....unless I deem it so."

The priest sighs in relief as he and all of the followers uncovers their eyes to see Blaze as her shadow form.

Blaze tells them. "Time is short at the moment. My lover's purple moon is about to set into the night, and we need to finish the ceremony before the clock reaches 1 AM."

The priest nods. "Right away. Is this the one?"

Blaze nods and reveals the marks that Aura had on his chest.

The first few symbols had appeared on the priest's stone tablet in a white glow.

The last one was on Aura's chest, confirming with the tablet that he was part of the prophecy.

Blaze showed Aura's back to the priest, revealing another set of marks.

All of them were on the tablet again, but Aura had one of them.

The eye was on the back of Aura's head of all places.

Aura asks. "What do they mean besides my destiny?"

The priest answered to him. "The eye on your back with these symbols means Orisis has gifted you with his power over the life force, just like how two goddesses gifted Blaze with their powers."

Blaze shows off the symbols on herself, spread across her body in various marks.

The priest tells Aura on this set. "Ra gifted Blaze with his fire powers......as well as his sacred Sol Emeralds."

The next symbol repeated itself alone, with no companions to accompany it.

The priest answered Aura's confusion on it. "The goddess Nephthys gave Blaze her shadow form through a spell she did."

Blaze added with him. "Two centuries ago, Rouge helped me learn how to make the spell happen. Though I almost had to sell my soul to Nephthys in exchange for this power."

Aura asked her. "What happened? Did Ra intervene?"

Blaze shrugs. "Kind of. The rest of the gods didn't want her to get any ideas, so they made me keep my soul, in return for giving this power to my soulmate."

The priest then added awkwardly. "That and plus God didn't like the idea in the first place, and no one wants to get wiped out by him."

Aura asked him. "What about the front set?"

The priest tells him. "Those belong to the God of death, Anubis."

Aura asks him. "Isn't death a dangerous deity to share powers with?"

The priest sighs. "How do I tell you this? It's an actual birthmark....meaning it was inherited through your father's genes."

Aura was surprised at this. "I am related to Anubis?"

A booming voice speaks. "Yes. You have finally figured it out."

Everyone looks around, as the priest asks. "Have you come to see your grandson's ceremony?"

The voice responds back. "Of course. Ra and God have graciously gifted me with this opportunity that I intend not to waste."

A figure appears in the room in golden light, nearly blinding the followers.

Anubis had appeared in his full form to everyone.

Aura looks at him. "Why did you choose to have and leave behind my father to have me years later?"

Anubis looks back at his grandson. "Aside from a family, it was to unite life and death into one being that would bring balance to the surface and the Underworld. Now join Blaze in the ceremony or else I will have to take you from losing too much blood."

Aura nods as Blaze got into a sarcophagus big enough for two in the center of the chamber, some wrappings in her arms.

He asks Blaze when he reached the edge of the sarcophagus. "How will this work?"

Blaze answered. "I can't share my powers by anything outward like bites or spells, so I need to bathe you in my own until you gain it. I am going to pull you inside and let the shadows flow into you."

Aura nods. "No turning back now. But I'm glad this change is with you."

Blaze smiles back and nods in return. "I feel the same."

Aura steps in as Blaze's wrappings went around Aura, pulling his body into her shadowy form bit by bit.

His legs quickly disappeared into the black mass as the wrappings went around it, Blaze's original legs in both of their's place.

Aura's arms sank into Blaze's, followed by his chest and torso going into her's.

As this was happening, the followers were chanting a phrase over and over that Aura couldn't understand, though Blaze might tell him later.

Blaze smiles up as his head nears her's. "I love you."

Aura finally smiles back. "I love you too."

The last of Aura disappeared into Blaze's mass as her original feline face from before returned, looking like she never lost her mummy form and with Aura completely gone and inside her.

The priest and another follower close the lid on the sarcophagus, sealing Blaze inside to rest as her inner self went to work on Aura.

It would be a while afterwards, but the people knew that once the next night returned...

...their new king and queen would arrive.
