Aura's narration

I couldn't believe what I saw. I just couldn't believe it.

My whole life was a lie, and everyone, even the now dead Espio, knew it.

I thought the main issue with the world was politics and war, but it's not.

Not only did I see the true world in the span of a few hours, but I lost one of my friends in the process of learning it.

And not just that, but that all of the world's issues with monsters traced back to me.

If being responsible for a dead clan wasn't enough, now I got the blood of MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of people that died whenever they came out under MY purple moon on my hands.

Ki should have told me this so we could have prevented it.

I should have killed myself after defeating Lord Rai, which was a choice of one life over countless others.

Now the world is at risk of eternal darkness if any of them get their hands on me.

The big confrontation begins at midnight...

Normal POV

Green Hill

(Midnight)

Aura tries to catch his breath after an hour of fleeing from the battle between the hunters and Shadow.

He had no idea where to go next.

Could he hide on an island?

No. Tails could reach him as his "normal" self, while Shadow, Rouge, Cream and Vanilla could just fly.

Maybe a mountain range will work?

No. Sonic, Amy and Sally could all reach him by climbing.

Is the Arctic Circle an option?

No. Blaze and Silver would probably reach him with fire power and immunity respectively.

The only other option was space, which Planet Wisp would be the most hospitable planet.

Unfortunately, Tails could just take himself and other monsters with him on the Blue Typhoon.

Plus the Wisps won't do much or any to stop them from getting to him.

It was getting hopeless....but maybe there was one final escape option...

Death.

If he killed himself now, the purple moon would cease to exist, giving humanity an edge over the monsters.

Thankfully, there was cliff nearby that wasn't very stable at the edge.

All he had to do was get to the end and let gravity do the work.

After that, humanity would be free from tyrants like Shadow.

Aura makes his way towards the cliff, ready to end his own suffering and the world's torment.

A female voice calls out to him. "Aura! Don't do it!"

He turns to see it was Sally who gave that plea to him, who was accompanied by Sonic and Amy.

Amy agreed with her. "You can't just do it because Shadow and others are after you! Let us help you!"

Aura glares at them as Tails arrived alongside them. "All of you knew that this world was full of monsters and none of you told me! You could have warned me so we could avoid this!"

The wolf then shows Espio's brace from his left arm that he grabbed before Espio flew out the house.

"Espio is dead now because all of you kept me in the dark!"

Tails answered his accusation. "If we told you earlier, you would've never gotten to know us as true friends! You would be looking at us as if we were bombs ready to blow!"

Sally adds with Tails. "If we wanted to use you or feed on you, we would have done it years ago!"

Aura's glare deepened. "That still doesn't excuse you from not trusting me with the truth!"

Sonic steps forward in response. "I know....we're all going to have to live with that mistake for eternity."

Sonic adds something from the past to explain. "I did stuff behind Tails' back, and he hated me for that. Our friendship was almost broken one day and we fought each other. I admitted that what I did was wrong...that sometimes I'm a jerk underneath it all. Kind of ironic being a Werehog now."

Aura seemed barely loosen up at Sonic admitting his horrible mistakes, but he was still on guard.

Sonic tells him. "You know the truth that none of us are innocent.....but it's up to you to forgive us."

Aura asks him. "What about all of the people you harmed over the years?"

Rouge arrived on a flying broom. "Oh please, they only eat wild animals. They are part wolf after all. It's the vampires and zombies you got to worry about."

Amy corrects her quickly. "Except Cream and Vanilla."

Aura replies to that. "Actually...they ate Vector and Charmy."

Amy shrugs at that comment. "To be fair, Vector is a pervert and does illegal stuff sometimes."

Vanilla arrives too. "And Charmy took after Vector while also stealing our food."

Cream was with her mother. "Mr Aura! Please come back with us!"

Blaze arrived moments later. "Aura....I know it was wrong to hide myself from you, but I wanted you to look past my wrappings for who I am. Do you remember?"

Aura definitely could recall the times where Blaze comforted him in his dreams, which was true.

But how did he know if it wasn't another attempt at mind control?

Aura reluctantly nods. "Yes, I do."

Blaze practically begs at him. "Then please....get away from the ledge and help us fight Shadow and Silver."

Before he could make the choice, Shadow arrived and knocked back most of them, only failing to take out Sonic and Blaze.

Shadow smirks at Aura. "If you're done hiding, then come with me." He says as he tries to hypnotize Aura.

Aura felt his mind get weak as Shadow tries to penetrate his psyche.

Shadow's voice echoes in his mind. "Come to me my loyal servant."

Aura starts to walk over mindlessly, unable to control himself.

Suddenly, another mind entered in to fight Shadow's influence.

Blaze's voice echoed inside Aura's head against Shadow's. "Leave. Him. Alone!"

Aura suddenly stopped, holding his head in pain as his mind was torn between Shadow trying to move him....and Blaze trying to free him.

Shadow felt rotted arms hold him in place as Sonic came in and punched him in the face.

The zombie Silver had arrived and was trudging his way towards Aura.

Silver moans out. "Must....get him...."

Amy came in and whacked Silver with her hammer, which the spikes dealt good damage on him.

Suddenly, a bomb filled with some kind of powder hit the area, causing everyone to cough from it.

When it cleared, Fury and Knuckles were there with weapons drawn.

Fury glares at all of the monsters there. "None of you are touching that wolf. Period."

Knuckles got his spikes ready and watched most of Were creatures while Fury handled the vampires.

Sally asked Fury. "What was in that bomb?"

Fury smirks. "It has chemicals that affect bat and wolf genes. All of you are incredibly vulnerable to average weapons now."

Shadow crosses his arms. "Hmph. As if a pathetic mortal like yourself could slay me? Don't make me laugh!"

Tails tries to strike Fury with one of his tails. "You forgot about me, bullet head!"

Fury reacted quickly enough and cut the tail with a tomahawk.

Tails yelped in pain and looked at where his tail used to be, tearing up from how much it hurts.

Sonic growls at Fury in rage, with Amy and Sally joining in seconds later.

Even Aura had to glare at Fury, knowing that crossed the line for him.

Aura would understand harming the vampires, but Tails didn't do anything to him!

Knuckles threatened them all. "Try anything else, and you'll get a one way ticket to hell!"

A three way battle royale began immediately between all sides.

On one side was Sonic, Tails, Amy, Sally, Rouge, Blaze and Cream, who were all trying to bond with Aura as their true selves.

On a second side was Shadow and Silver, who were pretty much threats to the opposing sides.

And the last side was monster hunters Fury Van Helsing and Knuckles, who were trying to save the world, but were extremely brutal doing it.

The fight started with the first team overwhelming the others easily, but that advantage didn't last long.

Fury broke out the big guns with a mini gun filled with Holy bullets, blasting both sides with them.

Shadow had taken millenniums learning to control his powers, so he was easily able to dodge every bullet with no effort.

As for Silver....Fury wasn't gonna aim for the head with rapid fire, so the zombie was fine just heading towards Aura again.

Knuckles got in Silver's path and punched him far away, making the trip back all the more miserable for the hedgehog.

Amy tried to protect her team by deflecting bullets with her hammer, but it obviously wouldn't stop Shadow from kicking her off her feet.

Sonic and Blaze tried to double team Shadow, but Blaze was getting thrown around the place, leaving Sonic to go solo.

Unfortunately, Sonic's form was way too slow compared to his daytime self, leaving Shadow to punch him into a tree and axe kick his head.

Sally and Rouge tried to kick Shadow at the same time, but Shadow teleported in the last second, leaving them to knock each other out.

Cream jumped on Shadow bit at him on the shoulder, which only annoyed Shadow.

The vampire king smacked Cream away, shocking her mother and causing to run to her side.

Aura growls at Shadow. "How dare you! That's my Cream!!!" He yells as a massive blue energy bursts out of him.

Shadow turned around to see Aura run at him and punch his face extremely hard.

The vampire king was sent flying into a boulder, the entire stone breaking to pieces.

Aura didn't give him a break, choosing to kick him into a tree that falls onto him. "You b******!!!"

Shadow felt along his mouth at the feeling of blood leaking out.

The vampire king admits to him. "Not bad....that's the best anyone's ever done to me."

Aura was about to attack again after that, but Shadow caught it and gut punched him, followed by piercing him with an energy blade of some kind.

Shadow then kicks Aura towards the ledge in a roundhouse kick, causing the wolf to hang on by his hands.

Blaze hissed at Shadow and glowed with pure darkness, shadows everywhere darkening as her wrappings came off.

Once her changing was done, her true self was on full display.

Aura's mouth hung open in awe at what his best friend was beneath it all.

Not only a mummy, but some kind shadow monster or something!

Blaze went to attack Shadow up front, but disappeared, her attack a diversion to hit Shadow in the back with a kick.

The two went at each other while Fury and Knuckles fought the rest of the monsters.

Meanwhile, Aura was just hanging on a ledge, close to his death.

He was now unsure of what he should do.

Aura did still feel scared and wanted to either die or stay with hunters, though Fury's behavior also frightened him.

His friends may be monsters, but they never wanted him as prey.

He had to make a choice soon before Shadow or Silver found an opening to get him....or before gravity decides to act first.

Should he side with the hunters to save all mortals, despite their cruelty?

Should he side with his friends? Maybe even become a monster himself?

Or should he kill himself to end the fight happening?
