(A.N. Sup y'all! This is where y'all get the REST of the answers. Just like I promised. Here y'all go!)

"Like all great stories, one must start at the beginning before advancing. My beginning to be precise. I was an average girl just trying to fit in, always doing things to be normal.

"Around the age of 11, my parents noticed that I has an amazing singing voice. So they took me to see my first Broadway show, The Little Mermaid.

"I was astonished by how incredible the whole thing was. There was a little boy who played Flounder, oh he was amazing! He really brought Flounder to life!

"Scuttle was hilarious! Any time he was on stage, he made me smile. I had the same reaction to Sebastian.

"And then there was Ariel. Oh, she was so dazzling and life like! The actress had nailed her role to perfection! That's when I discovered my love for theater.

"It became my whole life.

"Eventually, after high school and college, I began singing at the Burlesk Theater and now I own it. I was livin' the dream! Singing for people 6 out of 7 days a week, becoming more and more famous."

"Oh! So that's where I've seen you. My family went to see you perform last year. You're fantastic!" Katherine complemented.

"Why thank you dear! I'm glad you think so. Yes fame is nice, but it's better when you have someone who loves you for you and not your talent."

Katherine nodded solemnly, knowing exactly how she felt.

"I found this out the hard way. Maybe two years after I became internationally famous, I was walking down the street to the theater when I heard rustling in an alley as I was passing by.

"I went to investigate and found a little boy about the age of 10, rummaging around in trash cans for food. He had dark hair and stunning blue eyes. He was very thin and I took pity on the poor boy.

"I asked him for his name but he was reluctant. I offered to buy him food if he told me his name, he nodded and said his name was Jack Kelly."

"What?! That was- Whoa."

"Yes. I sometimes have trouble believing his transformation from shy boy to brave and bold leader.

"Anyways, I bought him food and he stuffed his face till he couldn't eat anymore. A few hours later, I asked him where his parents were and that's when his face dropped. I figured he was an orphan.

"So I contacted Child Services. They told me he was a runaway. They had been looking for him since he ran away from his fifth foster home about two months before.

"In the short time I had known him, I fell in love with the boy. He was a bright kid and had a lot of potential. He was so kind and so I inquired about adoption.

"They gave me information and my request was set in motion, but they had to "collect" him, as they put it. I had to force myself not to cry when they came to get him. He looked so dejected and downcast as they led him away, but not before giving me a huge hug and thanking me for being so kind to him.

"Maybe one month later, I was finally able to adopt him. And in these last 7 years, he has made my life full if adventure and excitement."

Katherine was soaking in this data. The more she processed, the more questions she had.

"Wow. That's some story. But there are some things that confuse me. Like, how did Jack and the others get their abilities? Where did the other boys come from? Who were those brutes that kidnapped me? How do I fit into all of this?"

Medda stood up from her chair and moved to sit on the bed next to Katherine.

"Those are some very good questions. I guess since the boys haven't told you yet, it's up to me.

"Well, to start off, I was the one who granted them each powers. I've had mine my whole life. I can look into a person's heart and determine whether they're worthy of the responsibility of powers.

"Each and every one of those boys has passed my test. In fact, you have too."

"What?! What test?! I haven't done anything but sit here and listen to you talk."

Medda let out a small giggle. Katherine gave her a slightly offended look.

"I'm sorry. But you've done much more than that. You've brought out a side of Jack that I've never seen before. He has this...I don't know what to call it. But I like this change in him."

Katherine blushed. Her? Bring out a different side of a guy she barely knew? That was going to take some time to settle in.

"When I grant abilities, sadly they don't manifest until you're in dire need of help. When everything seems bleak and hopeless. That's when your power or powers will be bestowed on you."

Katherine was doing her best to keep up, but it was a little difficult.

"And "those brutes", as you put it, were Oscar and Morris Delancy. They are henchmen to the villainous mastermind Snyder.

"They despise anything good in this world and will stop at nothing till Jack and his friends are out of the way, for good.

"As for how you fit into this... I have no idea my dear. I've been trying to figure this out myself." Medda finished.

"Whoa. T-This is a lot to take in... D-Did you give me powers?"

Medda nodded solemnly. "I don't control when I give them, just WHO I give them to."

Katherine started taking deep breaths, trying to calm herself.

"If that is all the questions you have, we can rejoin the boys." Medda said.

Katherine nodded, still in shock. She was going to get powers, but she had no idea when or what they would be. Her life was turning upside down.

(Whoo! Done with that! Okay, I hope y'all are satisfied with this chapter. It took forever to finish it. I kind of unintentionally showed Katherine's vulnerable side, but we all know that it won't last long. Also, I based Medda's theater experience on my own. I've never seen a show on Broadway, but the first stage show I ever saw was The Little Mermaid. The kid who was Flounder was impeccable, Scuttle was hilarious, Sebastian was amazing, and Ariel was perfection. Okay, I'm done. Panda out! 🐼)
