-Two Days Later-
The heat-words hung in the air where someone had stood.
'Kinda hot to be honest'
The blonde male raised an eyebrow, thinking, 'It's actually pretty cold out,' then pointedly continuing on. Unless his stalker was gonna do something, there was no reason to really pay attention to him.
Still...
He sat down to eat, in the middle of a clearing, near one of the river's runoffs. He grabbed an apple and cut a slice of bread with one of his twin hatchets.
+grooowwwwl+
He stifled a laugh. That must have been his stalker's stomach. Poor guy. He thought for a second. 'Maybe, just maybe...'
He tore a bother chunk of bread and sat it on a clean leather piece behind him, then turned away.
"If you're there, please, eat. I promise I won't look."
Footsteps. Hesitation. Then sitting and starting to eat.
A few minutes later, the blonde spoke up.
"Why are you following me?"
Chewing.
"Seriously?"
Swallow sounds.
"..."
Bite noise.
"At least tell me what your name is. Or say something."
"... This bread sucks, you know."
"What nice first words!" Lachlan retorted sarcastically, "I made this bread myself, I'll have you know."
"Wow. No wonder it sucks." The voice said chuckling. It had a nice accent. The blonde couldn't tell where it was from because of the mandatory memory-wipe, but it was nice.
"Please tell me your name? I'll tell you mine, you creepy stalker man." The blonde persuaded. The voice was silent for a moment, then spoke up.
"I am the Game Over. My name is Vikram Barn."
"Lachlan Power. Nice to meet you, Vikk... can I call you that? But what do you mean 'game over'?"
Footsteps, and Lachlan turned.
The voice was gone.
In the air, the words hung: 'Doesn't matter, Lachy.'
"Heh. Nice nickname" Lachlan murmured, and started to pack up to move.

Preston was just thinking to himself when Rob returned.
Following him was a boy no older than me- terrified. His face looked like blue porcelain- cracked and fragile.
"Who is that?" The kid asked.
Preston stood and went over to him.
"I'm Preston... Are you okay?"
He flinched at Preston's question. He gingerly lifted his fingers to touch the cracks stemming around his eye.
"I-I'm fine. It'll go a-away," he stuttered, "I'm M-Mitch, by the way..."
Rob pitched in, "He ran into me a while ago. I brought him back because he's the only newcomer that survived."
"What'd you mean survived?"
"I mean, he's the only one that escaped the beast. Not unscathed, but escaped."
"It- it's been tracking m-me."
Mitch pulled his ruined hoodie sleeve down to reveal a large bite wound in his shoulder. It was all red and hadn't been dealt with- so it was starting to get infected.
Preston instinctually backed away, not wanting to be near Mitch anymore.
Rob had clearly had something in mind to do, because he wouldn't have brought Mitch here otherwise.
Now curious, Preston asked Rob a question he hadn't thought of before.
"What was it?"
Rob flinched from the sudden question. "What was what?"
"The beast. What was it before?"
Rob looked at him weirdly.
"Before? How do you know there was a before? And why ask me?"
"I thought you'd know- being the first to be in here and all... But seriously. Do you know?"
"I do."
"Oh!? Well, what was it?"
"... There was a short time. A short time where it was actually human. Just call him Ace if you encounter him, or better, stay out of his way."
"That his name or something?" Mitch asked.
" You could say that. Close enough."
"If that's his name, it still doesn't answer a question I have." Mitch concluded.
"And what's that?"
"What happened to him?"
Something in Rob's expression hardened, "Ya know what, Mitch? Go ask him yourself. Go. Now."
Mitch's face deadpanned- mildly surprised and mildly concerned.
"Wait what?! No! Please!"
"Go. If you wanna know, go ask him. But the second you leave- Don't. Come. Back. Now go!"
Mitch looked upset, but left slowly, holding his arms close to his chest in fear. "O-Okay? I- bye?"
Preston stared at Rob. Rob's face held no emotion, and he finally moved from where he stood the instant that Mitch rounded a corner.
Rob looked around, and took a deep breath. He finally retained a smile, and completely ignored what he'd just done.
"Well... Okay then..."
