This chapter may contain very sad, disturbing images that may scare younger children or fainthearted readers. I suggest that you read the less disturbing description of Percy. I will put a notice so that you will know. Also, this whole chapter will be in the mermaids point of view.

Bella's POV

I woke up to see the swinging lantern of Annabeth's cabin. Emma stood over me.

"Wake up, Bella. It's time to go." I nodded and got up, getting dressed. My other friends had already left, leaving me and Emma behind. I pulled on my shirt and turned to leave. My eyes landed on a picture of my boyfriend, Will. I picked it up, tears brimming in my eyes. I had left so hastily that I only managed to send him a text message and I hadn't contacted him since. Emma placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry, Bella. You'll see him again soon. Remember, we've got the best heroes of the age with us. And the sea god." I nodded thankfully. I took her hand and led her outside toward the deck. The rest of them were already there, gathered around two people. I recognized one as Nico, the son of Hades. The other was a girl, fifteen or so with shoulder length black hair. She had electric blue eyes and wore punk like clothes. Annabeth had her in a tight hug and was sobbing steadily into her shoulder. We went to join the group around them.

Thalia seemed to be comforting Annabeth who was still crying. "Shh. Annie, it's fine. Let's just go and rescue Perce and then after we can beat him up together for being such a Seaweed Brain, k?" After we had calmed Annabeth down, and after we introduced ourselves to Thalia, daughter of Zeus, we turned toward the island looming out of the fog. It was saddle shaped, with a rope bridge hanging from one end of a cliff to another. As we neared it, I felt a wave of dark energy roll over me and I shivered. Leo docked the ship in a quiet cove.

"All, right. As you all know, we're here to rescue P-Percy. I know we can do this so let's go." Annabeth disembarked the ship and we followed, weapons in hand. Poseidon brought up the rear, trident raised. We trekked toward the rock face where a large boulder blocked the entrance from the cave. Fifty meters away from the rock, Poseidon slammed into something invisible. We turned to look back at him. He was running a hand through his tired, lined face. Ever since Percy had disappeared, he had slowly aged until he looked like he was in his seventies. His black hair hung limply and was graying at the roots. He looked surprised and kept trying come through toward us.

"I can't get through!" He growled angrily. Annabeth came back toward him and whispered something in Greek. They seemed to be arguing about something. After a moment of two, Annabeth walked back toward us. Poseidon sat down heavily on a nearby rock, leaning on his trident for support. We continued to walk to the cave entrance. We stood in front of the rock and Hazel stepped forward. Concentrating, she held her hands out. A good sized hole appeared. Hazel dropped her hands tiredly.

"Good job." I placed a hand on her shoulder. She glanced gratefully at me, golden eyes flashing. She followed Frank and crawled through the hole. I glanced at my best friends, Emma, Cleo, and Rikki. I crawled through the hole, towards darkness, and Percy.

Rikki's POV

I followed Bella through the hole, wincing slightly as I grazed my palms on the rough surface. I dropped down into the cavern floor and brushed the dirt and grime off. I retied my pony tail as the others crawled through. After we all stood in silence, Hazel closed her eyes and cloaked us in mist. When I looked again we were hideous monsters. I had a sleek seal like body with a dog like head and human hands. I could see that the others were the same as I was.

"Let's go." Annabeth led us toward the right tunnel which led us into more darkness, determination glinting in those grey eyes of hers. As we walked, we passed a couple of other monsters but they didn't spare us a glance. They hurried away, eyes darting behind us. Soon, we could hear echoing screams of pain. The twelve of us glanced worriedly at each other and jogged swiftly toward the sound. I know, I know. Usually, you wouldn't run straight toward the sounds of pain and obvious torture. But these are demigods we're talking about. Of course they'll run straight towards trouble.

After following the screaming down the stone passage way, it stopped abruptly. We halted, breathless as the sounds of pattering footsteps reached our ears. Thalia waved us toward a rock where we all stooped down and hid. I peeked over the edge of the rock to see a tall, 20 foot giant with long blue-black dreadlocks. A trident was held in his large, meaty fist. Small snakes kept falling from his long hair and slithering after him. Beside him walked a sandy haired guy with a deep scar across his face. He had pure gold eyes, not unlike Hazel's. Annabeth and Thalia sucked in their breath at the sight of him.

We watched as they walked down the corridor, laughing gleefully. We crept out of our hiding spots. "Who was that?" I asked.

"Polybotes," Thalia's voice wavered a bit, "And Kronos."

"Oh." I searched my mind for the names. "Kronos was the titan lord right? So why is he a teenager?"

"It's a long story." Annabeth said. "Maybe we'll tell you sometime but right now we have to get to Percy." I nodded in agreement. We ran the rest of the way to Percy's cell. The tunnel veered to the left and we followed it. Jason, Piper, Hazel, Frank, and Leo, who were in front of me stopped abruptly. I peeked over Leo's shoulder to see a body. Percy's body.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ A BLOODY DESCRIPTION OF PERCY, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT READ THIS PART. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED SO DON'T BE MAD AT ME. SERIOUSLY, DON'T BE MAD AT ME!!!

He lay inertly on the floor, blood pouring off in waves. Open wounds were all over him, some so deep that I could see the bone. His right arm was bent and twisted at an unnatural angle and some of his ribs had been punched/kicked in. His left hand hadn't been left unmarked either. Three of his fingers were broken too. He was shirtless though the remains of his shirt were strewn around the cave. A large hole in his stomach greeted my eyes. It was ragged as though it had been sliced through again and again. His skin was pale and looked clammy though he was obviously sweating a lot. Cuts and bruises marred his face. His eyes were screwed tightly shut and his face was in an eternal grimace of pain. Then my eyes moved toward his midsection. He had transformed and his beautiful tail had been mutilated to an almost unrecognizable pile of scales and blood. His scales were ripped and hanging off in some places. His fins were almost cut through and again I could see the bones and tendons. Bones were protruding out of the scales showing that it was broken. Worst of all, all of his cuts were tinged a horrible, poisonous green. His beautiful sea green tail was also tinged a poisonous green and looked so painful. I couldn't even imagine the pain Percy was in. A pool of blood surrounded his still form.

READ THIS DESCRIPTION IF YOU DID NOT WANT TO READ ABOVE DESCRIPTION! IT'S LESS GRUESOME AND BLOODY!

Percy lay inertly on the floor. A pool of blood surrounded him. He had cuts all over his body. Most of his ribs were broken and his right arm was twisted at an unnatural angle. His left hand had 3 broken fingers. A large and ragged hole was cut through his stomach. His skin was pale and ghostly white though it was obvious he was sweating. His eyes were screwed tightly shut and his face was also cut and bloodied. My eyes moved toward his midsection where it had changed into his tail. Cuts and wounds were all over it. It was obvious that it was also broken, and all of his cuts were tinged a poisonous green. I couldn't imagine what kind of pain my friend was currently in.

Annabeth rushed forward tears streaming down her face. She was about to kneel down next to Percy but before she could, Percy opened his eyes.

"Annabeth," His voice rasped painfully in his throat. "Don't... Poison." He used his unbroken fingers to gesture to the pool of blood around him. I peered closer to it and saw a tinge of the same, poisonous green. Annabeth fell to her knees, just outside of the blood. She reached toward Percy, crying openly.

I sniffled, wiping my tears away. I needed to focus. Behind me, I could hear and see my friends crying or trying to stop the flow of tears.

Annabeth ran her fingers through Percy's unruly black hair. She whispered a few things into Percy's ear. He paled a bit but nodded. Annabeth waved my friends and I toward her. Emma, Cleo, Bella and I walked shakily to her and Percy. She quickly explained the plan to us and we turned toward back Percy, palms raised.

"Sorry about this," I said. Cleo controlled the water in the pool of blood. The red liquid floated away, leaving only the poison. With Bella and Emma, I worked to destroy the deadly poison. Soon, it was all gone.

Emma answered Percy's unspoken question. "Your Dad helped enhance our powers." He nodded silently in understanding. The demigods behind turned to watch the door, weapons raised. Annabeth helped us to lift Percy. Emma and Cleo carried his torso while Bella and I lifted his tail. I grimaced as my fingers touched Percy's scaly, wounded tail. In no time, all our fingers were stained red with Percy's blood. Through all this, Percy had kept quiet, not uttering a single sound though by the look on his face, it was hurting quite a lot. We maneuvered Percy through the door while our friends surrounded us protectively, murderous looks on their faces. I shifted my grip on Percy's tail and we continued walking down the corridor. We rounded a corner and unluckily, I tripped on a rock.

My hands slipped from Percy's tail and it dropped, hitting the ground painfully. Percy tried to stifle the scream but the damage was done. Hazel lost her concentration on the mist and our disguises flickered and died. Ten monsters poked their heads into the corridor to find fourteen teens staring at them in shock. They roared a battle cry, instantly alerting their comrades. The demigods closed up around us, weapons ready to hack and slice. I picked Percy up again, head down. "I'm sorry!" I cried. Percy nodded at me grimly, smiling a little. Then the battle started.

Emma's POV

The sounds of clanging and monstrous roaring echoed in the stone corridor. We moved slowly forward as the demigods pushed the monsters back. I saw Annabeth whirling through the hordes of monsters, a celestial bronze dagger in one hand and her drakon bone sword in the other. She sliced a monster across the chest with her dagger and stabbed a seal hybrid with her sword. Frank and Hazel worked side by side, Frank turning effortlessly into animals and attacking while Hazel used her powers with the mist to disorient the monsters. Jason, Leo, and Piper did the same, working as a trio to run down the monsters. Leo blazed through with fire while Jason sliced and hacked through the waves. Piper used charmspeak to make the monsters stab themselves while she stabbed at other monsters too. Nico and Thalia worked together, watching each others back. With two children of the Big Three working together, they were a formidable team. Skeletons kept popping out of the ground while gusts of wind blew through the army, courtesy of Thalia and Jason.

Slowly, we made it through the army of monsters coming toward us. Percy lay in mine and Cleo's arms, eyes closed. Bella and Rikki heaved his heavy tail behind us the best they could. His mangled tail fins still dragged on the ground though. The monsters suddenly thickened around us. The demigods were slowing down. Annabeth swung both her weapons tirelessly, though a little slower than before.

"We can't keep this up much longer!" Hazel yelled over the deafening noise. We nodded in agreement.

"It's okay! We're almost there!" Thalia cried while blasting an empousa back with lightning. We struggled through, avoiding the demigods fighting around us. I suddenly felt a cold, spine tingling feeling. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Feeling a whoosh of air, I spun around, looking in shock.

Behind me was a Scythian Dracaena with a spear in her hands. From the way her hands were positioned, she had been aiming her weapon at me and was about to thrust it into my back. Except for one thing. There was a spike of pure ice through the middle of her breastplate. She slumped against me before dissolving into gold dust.

I turned back to Percy who had dropped from my arms. He was paler than before but his eyes were open. "Thank you, P-Percy." I whispered unable to keep the tremble out of my voice. He nodded again and closed his eyes. I picked him up gingerly hands supporting his back. I met the eyes of my friends. They were widened with shock, probably from seeing me almost get killed. I owed so much to him now, he saved my life.

After thirty more minutes of fighting through the monsters and occasionally using our enhanced powers to defeat a monster, we had made it out. Hazel widened the hole in the rock and we carried Percy through, arms aching. He was heavy. We stumbled down the hill towards Poseidon. The other demigods were nursing their numerous wounds though none of them were too serious. It seemed that the only serious injury was Frank's. He was limping from a bad cut on his ankle and a cut up arm.

The moment Poseidon saw us, he leaped up from the rock he was sitting on. "Percy!" He yelled, holding his arms out to him. As soon as we had crossed the invisible barrier separating us, Poseidon took Percy and cradled him in his arms. Poseidon took one look at all of Percy's injuries. Slowly he looked up at us. "Who did this? Who did this?! WHO DID IT!?!?" He bellowed angrily, his yells making the sea thrash, responding to his murderous mood. We looked away from him.

Finally, Hazel answered. "It was Kronos and Polybotes, my lord." Poseidon stroked Percy's face with one hand as he shifted his hold on him.

"Let's go." He commanded us and started jogging away from the hill. We followed wearily behind him struggling to keep up. As we reached the Argo 2, a yell of anger sounded from the hill. Polybotes and Kronos stood there weapons raised.

Poseidon handed Percy to Annabeth. She took him up in her arms and carried him into the safety of the ship. I marveled silently at her strength. It had taken the four of us alone to carry Percy.

Cleo's POV

We ran aboard to get extra weapons from the hold. The four of us then ran toward the others who were fighting viciously against the monsters. We passed Percy's room where we could faintly hear the sound of melodic singing. I ran past brandishing my weapon, a sword. Thalia and Nico were still fighting together but this time Hazel and Frank had joined them and were fighting against Kronos. Poseidon, Leo, Jason, and Piper were fighting against Polybotes. I joined Piper while Emma fought with Jason and Leo. I slashed at the monster's arms while Piper rolled under its feet and stabbed it in the stomach.

"Good job!" Piper gasped while turning to face Polybotes again. Poseidon had grown to his godly height which was twenty feet and was swinging his trident at Polybotes who swung his trident back. Spurts of sea water and poisoned water flew around as they fought. Jason and Thalia ran and jumped into the air simultaneously harnessing the winds. Poseidon stabbed Polybotes chest as Jason and Thalia called down a blast of lightning. A flash of light later, Polybotes was a pile of REALLY huge golden dust. At the same time, Nico, Leo, Piper, Hazel, and Frank had subdued Kronos. He was just barely alive as he croaked out his last words.

"He won't survive the next day." Then he cackled hysterically as he crumbled into dust. We stood in stunned silence. What did his cryptic words mean? We turned in unison and trailed wearily back toward the Argo. We met Annabeth inside the lounge. She was sitting with her head in her hands and though we were were a few feet away, we could hear her sobbing.

Thalia went forward, and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Annie what's wrong?" Annabeth waved her away and wiped away her tears.

"It's-it's fine. I'm good. How was the fight?" She asked still sniffling.

"It was fine. How's Percy?" Jason asked, sitting down in a recliner.

"He's asleep now. But I-I can't get the poison out. His tail is still there." Annabeth started crying again.

"It's alright Annabeth. We'll have Apollo look after Percy," Poseidon replied and dropped into a nearby chair. "Oh, and girls," He said looking at us. "Good job with the rescue. Here." He raised his hands, palms up. A blossoming glow of ocean blue sprang from his hands, aimed directly at the four of us. We were engulfed in the blinding blue light. As it faded, we all slumped to the floor suddenly exhausted. Hazel slowly helped me back to my feet while the others were helped up by Leo, Jason, and Frank.

"What just happened?" Rikki asked dazed. I blinked the stars out of my eyes.

Poseidon smiled back at us. "I blessed you so that when water touches you, you'll no longer be mermaids." We looked at each other uneasily. Sure, being a mermaid was hard but we wouldn't trade it for the world. "But that's not even the best part," Poseidon continued. "Whenever you wish too, you can transform!" We gasped and looked at each other excited. We wouldn't have to be careful around water any longer. "I also enhanced your powers so that they'll be stronger. It will be at the caliber of a demigod child of a minor god now."

"Thank you, Lord Poseidon! We'll never be able to repay you!" I exclaimed ecstatic.

"No, thank you, girls. You helped save my son." He opened his arms up and accepting the invitation, I hugged the god of the seas.
