The two walked close and hugged.

"D-D-D-Dad? I-Is it really you? Y-You're alive?" Luz stuttered.

That's when Luz pushed away.

"Why didn't you come back!?"

"I wanted to... but I couldn't." He said, "This place needs my help."

"Needs your help? What help?" Amity asked, making herself known.

"Who is this, Luz? Is she the mate I've been told about?" He asked, looking at Amity and Ghost. "And the feline? I sense it's....different somehow."

"Fiancé and I'll answer that later. Back to the question, what "help" are you talking about?" Luz asked.

"This area of the forest... people are trying to tear it down."

"Tear down, you mean like construction companies wanting to develop here?" Amity asked.

"Exactly. They want to build a pointless mall or skyscraper and forced the animals here out of their rightful home." Nathan said.

"I've been here, doing everything to keep them away."

"And you've been here this whole time? Not even trying to reach out to me or mom after we were devastated at your "death?"" Luz asked him.

"I thought it would be better if you thought I was dead, someone I trusted tried to kill me, if I showed back up, she may have tried to kill you as well."

"Well, it would've been nice to have someone to tell me about my power." Luz said, "I was a child, I barely knew you! And after you died I could suddenly speak to animals!"

"I can understand that it was a lot to take in but-"

"Don't fucking "BUT" me! You have no idea what it was like! It thought I was losing my mind !" Luz shouted at him, "Not to mention that mom got re-married!"

"Remarried?" Nathan repeated in shock.

"You didn't think she would just be a widower forever, did you?! She moved on while you've been here being Tarzan!" Luz shouted at him.

Amity covered her mouth to not laugh at the joke, this was not a moment to laugh. Especially with several deadly animals around them.

"Luz, why don't you take a breather, okay, honey?" Amity said, putting her hands on Luz's shoulders.

"I agree with mother. This might not me the best moment to process negative emotions." Ghost said, gesturing towards the other jungle creatures. "They might not be so friendly if you are yelling at their master."

"No, I deserve it." Nathan said, "Luz, I should've somehow told you, I am sorry that I wasn't there, but I'm needed here."

"And you weren't needed back home?! You weren't needed by your wife and your daughter?!" Luz shouted, being held back by Amity.

Nathan put a hand on Luz's shoulder and pulled her into a hug.

"I'm sorry. I can't say anything more than I'm sorry, Luz. To both you and your mother." Nathan said.

"I missed you." Luz said.

''Even though I'm still fucking angry at you!' Luz thought.

"I know." Nathan said, "So, how about you introduce me to the person you brought with you."

"Right." Luz said, pulling away and holding Amity's hand. "Dad, this is Amity. She's my fiancé."

Nathan looked at Amity.

"I see you inherited my romantic taste." He said.

"Romantic taste?" Luz asked, confused.

"How so, exactly?" amity asked as Ghost tilted her head.

"Because, you have fallen in love with a beautiful young lady." Nathan said, "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Oh, thank you!" Amity said in surprise, blushing.

"Mother, your face is heating up." Ghost said, poking Amity's cheek.

"And I assume this is your kitten? I've never seen a feline with a white coat and blue eyes." Nathan said.

"Yeah, she's... different." Luz said.

"Mmm, how different? Not that it's a bad thing but still, I'm curious about her." Nathan said, rubbing his chin.

"I sense it as well, she is not like other felines I have come across." The jaguar from before said, approaching Amity.

"Let's just say... I've learned a lot since dating Amity." Luz said.

Nathan was curious about this and wanted to ask more before a small canary flew into the hut!

"Master! They've returned!" She said.

"Damn it." Nathan said.

"Who's returned? The developers?" Luz asked the bird.

"No! The destroyers!" The canary said!

"Amity, wait here." Luz said.

"Hell no." Amity said, "I can help with this I'm a witch."

"A what?" Nathan asked in surprise.

"A witch?" The rest of the animals asked in surprise.

"Dad, this is a private conversation, and I need to talk with her." Luz said.

Luz grabbed her wife and pulled them away from Nathan and the animals, moving outside the hut for privacy.

"I'm not going to talk you out of this, am I?" Luz asked.

Amity smirked and shook her head, not making a single sound.

"But if you do this, you'll reveal to the world magic exists." Luz said to Amity.

"Maybe but they won't know WHO is casting the magic if I cover my face." Amity said as Ghost transformed into her staff form, "I'm not letting you fight this by yourself."

"And if you get hurt?" Luz asked.

"I know a little basic healing magic thanks to Emira." Amity said, squinting her fingers.

Luz let out a sigh.

"Fine."

Amity smiled as she kissed Luz's cheek.

"Thank you. Now, let's go save some animals." Amity said.

"The things I do." Luz mumbled, "And how do you think we'll explain this to dad afterwards?"

"We'll think of that after we push off the developers." Amity said, being the carefree one for once.

'I don't like the role swap.' Luz thought.

"Now let's get to it. The sooner we deal with these guys, the better everyone here will be." Amity said as Nathan walked out of the hut.

"Agreed. Flutter, lead the way." He said to the canary on his shoulder.

The bird flew off with the animals following. Luz and Amity rushed to follow, hopping on the staff to ride it as Nathan hopped on a panther to ride.

'Yep... this is my life.' Luz thought.

"What sorcery is this?" A monkey asked in shock, looking to Luz and Amity.

"Questions later, if they help, I don't care." A parrot said.

"But this is-" the monkey said until a smaller monkey landed in his shoulder.

"The master's cub will explain after we drive the destroyers away!" The smaller monkey said.

"You know, Amity, these animals are even more interested in your magic than your giraffes." Luz said.

"Really? I guess that's understandable since the giraffes knew about it more before other animals on Earth." Amity said with a shrug.

'Still don't see them as demons.' Amity thought.

Though Amity had to wonder if other animals knew giraffes were demons for years or just thought they were normal herbivores. A question for later.
