From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for trusting me with your characters and for all the lovely, hilarious, sad and appreciated comments.

Writing is a form of escapism for me. I can get out of the parts of my head where I'm over thinking every little thing.

I wanted to let you know what I've learned from every character, and how they have helped me.

ISAAC
This boy has taught me so much about myself. I relate to him on such a deep level and his character growth has been the most inspiring to me. He's vulnerable and awkward- something which, in our society, males 'shouldn't be'. Yet here he is, making friends and being so supportive of his friends.

_________

KENNEDY
I aspire to be more like Kennedy.
I'm very much the 'mom friend' in my group, but her kindness and general ability to treat people like they're her family is very admirable. Like Kennedy, I also have anxiety and I'm not a big fan of change. Through writing Kennedy's storylines, I've learned a lot more about how I can cope with change in my own life.
And let's be honest, 2020 was just one big curveball.

________

ELI
This boy basically doesn't exist. He's constantly there for his friends and, in all honesty, he's kind of superhuman. But then you look at his past, and realise that it helped shaped who he is today. He pushed his friends away when he needed them most at the start, and I think that's the most vulnerable we've seen him.
He's another character I want to be like. I also love his ability to be affectionate with other males as well, because it's not something that we see a lot. It should be normalised though.

_________

WERONIKA
She is very goal-orientated and determined, but I love that she doesn't throw any friends under the bus to get what she wants. She values her friendships and doesn't give up. If I had even half the determination that Weronika had, I'd have finished writing hundreds of books by now.

__________

AMETHYST
Amethyst is such a complex character and I've loved writing her. She has taught me that the grieving process can impact people in so many different ways, so it's important to be there for others. It goes to show how much friendship can mean to someone. I also admire how she doesn't trust people so easily. That's something I've been working on for a while. Of course, it's not good to be completely distrustful of people though.

____________

STANLEY
Stanley is just so precious. He starts off being quite unsure of himself. The only thing he knows is that he needs to look out for his friends. Stanley is one of those people who has so many feelings and conflicts inside him but he doesn't tell anyone because he just wants to support others. His storyline was an emotional one for me to write. I love the growth Stanley had. He went from being in the closet to being proud of who he was. He's a great role model for the younger generation.

_________

DARIUS.
He started off as a comedic relief kind of character. I read his backstory and already had a storyline planned, but for the most part, he was just used for humour at the start.
Then, we learn how loving he is and his bond with Stanley is one I think males nowadays don't think they can have. He really breaks down the toxic masculinity in our society and, like Stanley, he's a great role model.
Also, his ENERGY is the BEST.

__________

MAXON.
Maxon's a realist and that's something I want to adopt more. I think it's important to find a balance, and Maxon has done that well. He also stepped out of his comfort zone with dance, but it's the fact that he did it for his team that I think is so amazing.
Although it makes him upset, he doesn't let his dyslexia define him.
He also re-defines what it means to be 'cool'.

_______________

CAMRYN
Camryn's creative side, and how she is so passionate about doing things she loves says so much about her. Her sexuality storyline is also one that I feel needs to be normalised more in books at media, because that's exactly what it is- normal.
Her friendship with Isaac is so beautiful and a great example of friends LIFTING EACH OTHER UP. There's no real drama with them. Camryn's past has meant that she prides herself on making meaningul friendships, because she only ever really had her brother. Her social class also shines light on the way she thinks about herself. Despite not having much, she is still determined to make something of herself for herself and her brother.

I'm so excited to be going on the journey that is Book 2 and 3 with you!
