"We're better suited as dragon slayers." Sting said, as I nodded. "Allow me to explain! Natsu and friends are known as first generation dragon slayers; they got their dragon slayer magic from dragons. Your Laxus and the Oración Seis' Cobra are second generation dragon slayers; they've had dragon lacrimas implanted in their bodies that let them use the magic. As for Sting, Cloud, and Rouge here, they've not only been raised by actual dragons like you, they've also been implanted with dragon lacrimas! They're third generation hybrids!" Lector said proudly. "Third generation?" Natsu asked. "In other words, they're the ultimate dragon slayers!" Lector said. "Ultimate dragon slayers?!" Natsu said. "There's a huge difference in skill between the first gens and the third gens. You don't even begin to compare to them." Lector sighed. "Did your dragons vanish in the year 777 too?" Natsu asked. "Well, in a manner of speaking..." Sting said. "I'll be frank." Rouge said. "We personally eliminated the dragons that taught us dragon slayer magic." Rouge said. 'They may have, but I didn't... I guess I have to play along...' I thought. "In order to become true dragon slayers." Rouge finished, as the three of us smirked. "You... Killed your dragons?!" The blonde girl said, with a surprised look. "Humans... Did that to dragons?" The blue cat asked. "You killed your own parents?!" Natsu shouted, enraged. "Well, if we get to fight during the games, we'll give you a taste of the power that took down actual dragons!" Sting responded confidently.

<Later... Back at the hotel...>

"You guys are aware that I didn't kill Thundrum, right?" I asked, standing on the balcony of Sting and Rouge's room. "You didn't?" Sting asked. "No." I said, looking down. "Well, you played along as if you did, so keep it up." Rouge said, as I sighed in relief. "You guys ready for the games?" I asked, smiling. "Yep. Always have been." Sting said. "Same here." Rouge said. "I'm wondering if something will happen at midnight." I said, pondering at the fact that we had a curfew. "Speak of the devil." Rouge said, pointing to the clock. It had just became midnight. A few seconds later, a bell tolled throughout the city. "Attention, Guild members who've gathered for the Grand Magic Games!" A voice was heard. "What the hell?" Sting asked, as he and Rouge stood up and walked onto the balcony. There was a big screen in the sky, a projection using lacrimas. There was someone wearing a pumpkin mask. "G'morning!" He said. "The preliminary round to narrow the 113 participating teams down to 8 will now begin!" The pumpkin guy said. "Huh. So that's why they had a curfew." I said. "With more and more guilds entering every year... "The games are getting boring," is all I ever hear... So this year only eight teams will vie for our cheer!" The pumpkin man said in a singsong voice, as he did a small dance. "The preliminary round rules are simple!" He said, pointing to the air. The ground began to shake. "What the..?!" I said, nearly losing my balance. "Look!" Sting said. I looked down, and the hotel's around the city were escalating into the air. "Oh wow..." I said, getting a little worried. "You will now participate in a race! The Domus Flau stadium is the goal!" The man said. "Races? I love races!" I said, getting excited. "The first eight teams to reach it will qualify for the games!" He said, as paths appeared from the balconies for us to walk on. "You're free to use magic, there are no limitations! Only the first eight teams to reach the goal will clear the preliminary round!" He said. I looked over and saw a different path on our hotel. 'Must be for the other members in the team...' I thought. "Also, we are not responsible for any loss of life that happens in the labyrinth." The pumpkin continued. "Let the Grand Magic Games' preliminary Sky Labyrinth round begin!" He said, as a huge sphere appeared at the ends of everyone's' paths. "Just looking at that thing makes me sick..." I said, as everyone began to run up the paths. Orga, Yukino, and Rufus' path intersected with ours, so we were united before we reached the maze. "Let's do this guys!" I cheered, as we all ran to the maze.
