It was later in the day. Tiny had never been happier in his entire life. He was delighted to have his family back. The Russell family homestead was full of life once again. Stories had been exchanged. Everyone told Tiny how boring London was and claimed that he got out lucky. The basset hound puppy then told his family what he had done while he was alone. Of course, he left out some major details. If his parents knew that he had to take on a pair of robbers, they would have a heart attack for sure. His family was still surprised when they learned he had gone shopping.

"Dinner is ready!" Max called from the kitchen, carrying a platter out to the dining room table. Laying on it was a roasted turkey. On the table was more food. Mashed potatoes, corn, beans, bread, etc. It was all there. Norman had even gotten a bowl of candy canes set out. Now it was time to eat. The Russell family was taking their seats just as someone knocked on the front door. One eyebrow raised, Daisy murmured, "Who was that?"

"Oh! I hope you guys don't mind but I invited someone over for dinner tonight!" Tiny exclaimed. Everyone looked at him as he ran over to the front door. Throwing it open, the young pup smiled happily when he saw who was standing on the other side. Holding a wreath of holly, Chloe smiled nervously as she asked, "I'm still welcome here for dinner, right?"

"Of course!" Tiny yipped. He jumped up and hugged Chloe. A purr rumbling deep within her throat, the tabby cat returned the embrace while the rest of the Russell family entered the foyer. With her husband Max standing by her side, Gidget smiled as she spoke softly, "Come on in before you catch a cold dear, it's chilly out there." Wrapping his arm around his wife's shoulders, Max nodded his head and added, "And you're just in time for dinner."

"Thank you for having me here everyone," Chloe meowed. Leading her inside the house, Tiny held her paw. "Thank you for coming," he replied, wagging his tail. The gray tabby ruffled the fur on his head with a gentle hand. Following them, Hu woofed happily. Sitting at the table, Norman spread his arms out as he declared, "God bless us everyone!" Tiny smiled when he heard that.

This was the best Christmas ever.
