TODAY WAS OUR LAST DAY HERE 😫

BUT it was a two show day on Broadway and therefore it was a two show day for my family as well!

we saw the matinee performance of Carousel and the evening performance of Mean Girls, and first of all, before I saw anything else

*inhales deeply* WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR PEOPLE TO BE GOOD AUDIENCE MEMBERS??

today during Carousel, Jessie Mueller's character was sobbing on the ground onstage and what do we hear? why, a fun little ringtone, of course! Joshua Henry singing emotionally about his feelings? another ringtone! Tee Boyich (aka the wonderful Cady Heron standby) telling her friends about how a girl she trusted brutally betrayed her? you bet we heard someone snoring from the row behind us!

it's. not. that. hard. you hear an announcement to turn your phone off, you turn it off! you pay over $100 for a ticket to a Broadway show, you don't fall asleep in the middle of it! that's just common decency, folks. 

okay. I'm done with my rant 😂

SO I knew nothing about Carousel going in, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised and I'm so in love with that show now. Jessie Mueller and Josh Henry are PERFECT live, and Lindsay Mendez 100% deserved her Tony Award, I was grinning every time she was onstage. Also, I don't know how many of you know about Carousel, but the story took a turn that I did NOT expect it to take but I loved it, it was just really amazing 

MEAN GIRLS first off, I love Mean Girls fans, I was wearing a shirt that said 'On Wednesdays we wear pink' (because it's Wednesday, of course) and on the way to the theater, two teenage girls on the street yelled "I LOVE YOUR SHIRT WE SAW THE SHOW LAST NIGHT" and I yelled "IM ON MY WAY TO SEE IT RIGHT NOW" and then we kind of just squealed at each other before moving on

SO THE SHOW ITSELF it definitely exceeded my expectations and I had HIGH expectations. The staging was amazing and the cast members were BRILLIANT. Tee Boyich was on for Cady, and she killed it, and Nikhil Saboo was on for Kevin G, it was only his third show in that role, and I'm now obsessed with him

(and of course our boy Ben Tyler Cook was flawless as per usual)

AND THE STAGE DOOR WAS SUPER FUN we talked to some super nice folks and a lot of the cast came out and they were all so sweet oh my goodness

a fun little thing, when Nikhil got to us he said that he saw me from before the show when we were waiting outside and that he recognized my shirt 😂 he was just great, so was the entire cast I just love them

AND THATS IT

we're flying out tomorrow and we've got tickets to see Bandstand tomorrow night (AHHH) and it was a great trip, it was super fun, I'm sad we're leaving, but I'm excited to get writing again and start tearing out all your hearts again! yay!
