"Should I close my eyes?" Jeno asks, looking at Jaemin waiting for an answer. "Because I have a feeling this is one of those times I should."

The blond haired boy laughs wholeheartedly whilst shaking his head in response, "don't worry, you don't have to close your eyes on this one."

"But what if it is a surprise or something like that?" The younger boy raises a brow, a little suspicious as he starts assuming things.

To which he doesn't usually do, may I remind you. But something about right now has him doing so anyway.

"Trust me, if it was, you'd be disappointed." Jaemin snickers when Jeno pouts at him.

"Literally, no need to close your eyes. There's nothing spectacular behind this closed door." He says while knocking on the said steel door with his knuckles.

Jeno's pout remains on his face but he nods nonetheless, letting Jaemin open the door for them before he steps aside for Jeno.

"Any explanation as to why we are on the rooftop?" Jeno asks when they walked out a little more to the center.

Jaemin purses his lips, inserting his hands in his pockets as they stopped on their tracks, now facing each other with Jeno tilting his head in confusion.

"I... Uhm... Okay, I kind of wanted to do this at one of our houses... But," he quickly adds as if Jeno was going to interrupt him midway.

But the brunet boy was not going to do that, not when Jaemin seems like he's about to say something important rather than rambling about his worries of their relationship.

"I thought it would have been boring and that was honestly the original plan before we then decided to expose ourselves and let everybody else in this school know."

"I was going to ask you out on a date, but then we got a shit tone of homework to do... So that fucking sucks," Jaemin chuckles nervously.

He takes one of his hands out to scratch the nook of his neck while his lips stretches into a crooked smile. It has Jeno smiling fondly.

It warms his heart that Jaemin, who used to hate him (reluctantly so) and treated him like he was the enemy by acting like a total jerk (obliviously) or being cold, is now being sweet.

Which is funnily the same thing for Jaemin's perspective. Except; Jeno was not being an asshole to him, or even his friends.

Though Jeno had a confident and flirty image, Jaemin got to see his shy and tentative side.

"I also didn't really planned this out properly– I mean, yeah I did imagine things like possibilities."

"But, things got complicated with my friends interfering in the most immature way I could've imagined, I'm still really sorry about that." He mentions.

Jeno pouts once again hearing his genuine words, "before you continue, I just want to say and let you know that you really don't have the whole responsibility of their bad actions."

"Sure, you could influence them in a good way and things could have been handled properly, but obviously it didn't. Things went south."

"However, you're at no fault for what they did. Because that's them. That is their problem."

"If you're going to keep saying it was your fault for letting them do that, which you didn't by the way because some of it were unexpected. "

"You're basically just letting them continue to get to you, don't let that happen, Jaem. And certainly don't let that show, people like them could take advantage of that side of you."

Jaemin nods in understanding, fully listening and accepting what Jeno advised him.

Unlike to Renjun, he didn't realize the "advices" the elder boy gave not only to him, but to Haechan as well, weren't advices for the greater good.

Nor to help them with things in this school, especially as new students or transferees.

But to actually help himself, for a reason Jaemin can't really tell. Ego? Probably.

However, he is thinking it couldn't be a hundred percent loneliness or to gain more people on his side. Even those who barely know of the situation.

He sort of thinks it could be nothing but some sort of "revenge".

It is twisted in his opinion, but he doesn't really say it out loud.

Now that his perspective is clearer and not blurred with lies and unconfirmed rumors, he can tell the difference.

Biting the inside of his cheek, he meets Jeno's gaze for a split second before looking over his shoulder, staring at the blue bird sitting there on the nearby bench peacefully.

Jeno is quietly sulking, fighting the urge to whine at Jaemin for not meeting his eyes. Reminding himself that the elder boy is nervous right now, so all he could do is be patient.

"Jaem?" He calls out when the blond haired boy was being quiet, almost as if he had just completely forgotten what he was going to say.

Jaemin blinks several times and clears his throat, "I know we've been on a few dates... And we kind of agreed of what type of relationship we're currently in..." He trails off.

Jeno nods along at him, a little bit of clarification that what Jaemin said are true. Also encouraging him to continue slowly but surely.

"Although there were and still a lot of complicated stuff... I just can't take it anymore."

Suddenly, Jeno's heart drop. Feeling like it went down to his stomach, feeling it pound there in a brutal way that has him feeling like he was about to throw up.

He gulps, throat going dry as he tries to inhale steadily. But his mind is too full of negative thoughts.

Is Jaemin done with me?

Did I lose him?

Was it not working out?

Did I do something wrong?

Most importantly, did Renjun talk him out of it? Did he succeed?

Thankfully, his thoughts were interrupted by a hand suddenly coming up to his cheek. He blinks to see Jaemin smiling at him reassuringly.

"I assume it might have sounded wrong." He mutters, slowly gaining confidence now. "But I promise it isn't anything bad to what you had thought."

"Then....?" Jeno's nose scrunches when he was about to be cranky, getting impatient and bitter after he misunderstood.

Jaemin laughs at that in amusement as he then cups Jeno's cheeks with both hands this time. "I wanted to ask you if we could... Make it official?"

"As boyfriends?" Jeno widens his eyes, but his gaze was full of hope. Jaemin practically melts as he nods his head.

The younger boy then answers, "of course!" to which had them both grinning at each other like lovestruck fools.

The brunet boy then squeals, he couldn't contain it anymore and hugs Jaemin tightly, the latter chuckling as he rests his chin on top of Jeno's shoulder.

"You were lying when you said this was nothing," Jeno mumbles against his shoulder. "Because this was certainly a spectacular surprise."
