Rant Number Twelve: Reading Lists Titled "Read Later".

So, as promised, here's a more generalized Wattpad-in-general rant. This is something that drives me endlessly insane for no good reason. At least, I'm guessing how it'll appear to some people.

But anyway, here it is: I. Mother-fragging hate reading lists titled "Read Later" or anything of the sort. And frankly, I feel kind of insulted when people put my stories on those lists.

Why?

Because, I don't know for sure about you, but based on my experience I'm going to guess that what you really mean by 'read later' is more like "Oh, well this looks sorta interesting right now. I'll put it on a reading list and forget about it for a while and later delete it without reading it because I can't even remember how I came across it in the first place."

I have done that. So many times. Not even with Wattpad books but with hard copies of books I have around all the damn time.

Why do I forget them? Not a clue. I love them. I start all of them and get busy or can't commit.

So what happens?

"Oh, I'll read it later."

*Next millenia passes*

"Well shit. What ever happened to that book?"

Do you see my point? If you're not going to read now, are you going to read it at all?

If you're a notorious "ghost reader" who never votes or comments then it's even more confusing because even if it's on your list "Read Later" we assume 'later' never came because you never gave any notification that it did.

But ghost readers are a rant in themselves and I think I'll just wrap this one up for now.

~Show some humanity before deciding an author isn't good enough for 'now'.
