The entire village crowded around the two trolls, each of them giving Branch dirty looks as he held his arm, looking around in embarrassment and shame...

"You lost our food, you little runt!" one troll yelled out in pure rage, shaking his fist at the young boy. "Our livestock!" another screamed.
"All the dragons got away because of you!"

Branch shrunk down a bit at the harsh words being yelled so loudly at him, lowering his head as his ears drooped down in shame...

"Y... yeah..." the young boy stuttered softly, looking around once again in slight fear. "But I shot down a Night Fury..."

"Oh please, Branch!" Thorn yelled with a long sigh of disappointment. "Stop with your stories!"
"But... but this time it's true," Branch objected, looking up at his father with a hopeful gaze. "It went down over near the ridge. If we send out a search party..."
"Enough!"

Branch flinched at the harshness in his father's voice, shrinking back a bit in fear...

"I'm... I'm not lying, dad..." Branch assured softly, the slightest tinge of sadness echoing in his voice. "Please believe me. For once... just believe me..."

Thorn looked at his son with narrowed eyes, disappointed in the troll he had turned out to be...

"Just go home, Branch," the chief ordered, pointing off towards their pod in a harsh manner. "But, dad..." Branch started, but his father quickly interrupted with a stern shout of pure rage... "I said, go home!"

Branch lowered his head with a soft sigh before slowly walking past his raging father to head home in shame...

"Nice going, mate," a purple troll with blue hair that faded into a green at the tip taunted with a short chuckle. "You always know how to make me laugh!"

That would be Creek... We've hated each other since we were babies. He's always known exactly how to push my buttons... and even worse... he's the one Poppy's had a crush on since pre-k...

"You are such a freak," a pink troll with long hair that faded into three different colors sassed. "Total freak," said the bluish-purple troll she was attached to...

The twins, Satin and Chenille. They rarely got along with each other, always disagreeing with everything the other said... except on one topic... how much of a dork I was...

"You should know better than making up a lie like that..." said a big blue troll with really light blue hair. "No one's ever seen a Night Fury and lived to tell the tail..."

And Biggie... he always carried around a worm with him. Calls him Mr. Dinkles, and acts as if he could understand every word the little insect was sayin. And people call me crazy...

Meanwhile... Poppy stood leaning against a wall, the pink troll not saying a single word...

You already know Poppy... the angel of our village... She was different from the other trolls who would always ridicule me for every little thing I did... Though she hardly ever noticed me... when she did, she was really nice. Part of the reason I loved her so much...

The pink troll looked at Branch as he walked past, actually seeming rather sympathetic for the village failure...

Slowly, Branch walked by the group of trolls surrounding him, the young boy listening to all the mean jokes the others made at his expense before finally making it to his house and walking inside...
