Anika and her father are having dinner when Mr Mehta [Mm] gets a call from his friend vivek khanna who asks anika's hand for marriage with his son Daksh khanna who had seen anika helping people in a flood relief camp and has developed lust and obsession for her 

anika is reluctent and isn't aware about daksh's evil intensions and agrees for the marriage as it was to be held in the oberoi mansion because daksh is shivay best friend.

for Mm anika is his daughter and he was unhappy with her for agreeing because he knows daksh is a bad person he always wanted someone like shivay for her but was helpless and agreed 

the next day...

shivay was very happy hearing the news 

he had never seen anika till now but had forced daksh to keep the wedding in om

he thinks daksh is a positive person .ie a very good guy

all other people in om were overjoyed
